- Two years ago in Berlin, the first wraparound smartwatch came into my life in the form of the “Nubia Alpha,” an inspiring but early prototype of a wearable that fully leaned into the curved-screen concept. While the Nubia Alpha did eventually make it to market, the company is already following it up with the simpler, (slightly) svelter sequel, the “Nubia Watch.”
If you’ve watched MrMobile's "Into The Fold" series you know I’m obsessed with folding screens … and a screen with a curve this pronounced is a pretty close cousin! @rrobertt13 It doesn't seem to be. Notice the shadow under the phones by the charging ports. The shadow isn't there where the surface changes. That indicates that there isn't a surface present for a shadow to land on. Meaning, the phone is hanging over the edge.

I honestly didn't think I would have any real need for a wearable until I got my Galaxy Watch and was free to move around the office and not lug my phone everywhere. Additionally its a lot less rude to glance at your wrist than pull out your phone during client lunches/meetings. 😂 This wrap around is a neat concept. I hope they do push something more polished to market.

I've always wanted my phone to be wrapped around my wrist when I'm not holding it in my hands, since the time Nokia demonstrated the concept in a video featuring their take on phones of the future. This is one step closer to that dream.
I love the concept; and, when all the bugs and kinks are worked out, I would be happy to purchase this watch, for a reasonable price. I like the creation of the screen, the battery life and the watch strap. When all the kinks are worked out, wow what a great product it Will be!

The original Gear Fit from 2014 had a curved display and that was one of the major reasons I got one right after it was released. It had issues but in terms of design, it was way ahead of it's time.
I had one as well and agree. I have the galaxy 3 watch and it has treated me well love it. But i just purchased a bulova curve and omg smart watches need a slight curve the fit is just phenomenal suuper comfortable
Great and thorough hands-on as usual. It's a very interesting product and even more promising product category. Even though it isn't completely convincing I am very interested in the way they iterate on the product or how other brands will maybe try to do something similar🤔

I currently wear a bulova curve and what ud give for a smart watch with a slight curve it fits absolutely amazing
This is very similar to a concept I had, where you take a skinnier than normal flagship phone, and make it able to wrap around your wrist. So instead of it going into your pocket, you just wrap it around your wrist and then when you want to use it as a phone you just bend it back into a flat phone again. The parts of the screen that bend around your wrist can turn off and only the middle area B usable like on a watch.
Folding and curved screens are the most premium feeling screens !!

I wouldn't buy this specific watch due to the price and bugs but boy do I hope they do well enough to keep getting better. Their designs are a genuine breath of fresh air.

Regardless, it’s another great video! I love all of the old school geek stuff that gets plastered all over the videos. I’m more of a star wars guy myself, but nothing beats watching old Star Trek videos with my dad :)

I totally agree! I'm rocking the first Nubia watch. In terms of hardware, it was really polish and well made considering it was an alpha stage product. What really held it back was the software, and no updates. It's sad to say $30 smartwatches provided more features and a better UI experience than this watch. However it's main selling point is definetely it's display, always a great conversation piece. Still I pre-ordered the Nubia Watch 2...lol. Looking forward to pairing it with my Fold 2 that's coming soon :)

This reminds me of that Sony e-ink flexible screen watch a few years ago. Hope someone makes a flexible screen watch with the recent color e-ink technology.
