- Unboxing the Nubia Watch, a 2020 sequel to the Alpha smartwatch featuring a funky bendy screen that wraps around your wrist. This full hands-on review takes a tour of the Nubia Watch's specs, hardware, fitness tracking features and other bits, to see if it's a viable alternative to the Oppo and other efforts.
ZTE's smartwatch is certainly one of the best designed wearables of the year, with its funky curved finish. The software is custom made, rather than Wear OS or similar, to make full use of the 4-inch AMOLED display. You've got fitness features including GPS and a heart rate monitor, so you can track your exercise sessions. And you can also copy music straight onto the 8GB of built-in storage.
The Nubia Watch improves on the Alpha in several key areas, although it's once again the older Snapdragon Wear 2100 on board. So far this seems to offer slick performance, although battery life will be sapped by that massive screen. So you'll want to charge this smartwatch every night.

I've seen the promotion video on kickstarter. They mentioned you can take phone calls on Bluetooth. However, the video showed the model using a Bluetooth headset. So can I confirm you can really answer phone calls on the watch? Plus I have super skinny wrists. 15cm. Would I still be able to wear it?

Does it have an e-sim just like oppo smartwatch and xiaomi mi watch? Or it just depends on the bluetooth of the android phone. Can you use to answer call thru your nubia watch? Does it have a speaker? Or maybe connect it to your bluetooth earphones maybe.

I got the watch already and its quite comfortable despite being close to 100gm and it doesnt feel huge on hand, also everything works as it advertised, just hope they give out better features in coming updates..

I was an early investor and 7-8 months later arrived. I Luv the look and size and displays etc. A bit disappointed in the battery as only last a few days (a 'real' watch battery lasts as we all know years). Def impresses people.

Recieved mine yesturday and already many issues.
1. Can't make calls as it's ver low mic.
2. Can't sync contacts or photos
3. No reply to messages or what's app notifications.
Nubia need to fix these issues and make it usable asap.

Looks like there aren't any apps built in that really use the Wi-Fi for anything... Local music, messages via Bluetooth from phone, etc. Needs music streaming apps, social media notifications without getting it from the phone.
Different cloud storage apps to be able to view different file types.

I kinda like it, but it's too chunky looking. If they made it thinner that would be cool. Nice interface. Shame it can't link with your phone, example, play music from your phone like the apple watch, which in turn saves storage.Great video.
Cheers, and yeah the phone hookup is basically for calls/messages. Hopefully they'll expand the interface/features soon

Nice review. However, aside from a removable band, this new release of the Nubia watch appears to add nothing that the original Nubia Alpha didn't have. Unless it now allows for LTE, free-standing phone use with a SIM card (which wasn't available in the U.S. version), nothing at all has changed from a technical standpoint. I purchased the Nubia Alpha, with very high hopes - but all it ever really did, was serve as a nice Ice-breaker for conversations with strangers who noticed it. It is very attractive, but it's advertised as a smart-phone wearable, - a claim it falls very short of. For the price, it does nothing that a standard, run-of-the-mill smart watch can't do - except maybe, look really cool. So, unless you need help meeting people...
... just sayin'.

No it seems that one of the watch faces built in is in the 12 hr format but there is no setting to change it in general

No that seems to be the "newest version" it's just something I doubt will ever get software updates of any sort unless it's a 3rd party hacking it open. If you look at their kickstarter page comments you'll see plenty of upset backers (myself included) with recently a few seeming to have luck getting a refund.

I was pledged, but pulled it back from this project. Way to many silly things that should be a must in 2020.
1 ) No replying to Text messages
2 ) It's not water proof
3 ) It has Bluetooth 4.x ? really
4 ) No UI media controls for like Spotify or others.
5 ) and the big one , it's using a Snapdragon Wear 2100. It came out in 2016. I know if they fixed this, the Bluetooth would also be bumped up. The company doesn't want to budge on any of this.
