Cheap oven cleaner works great
Baking soda with a gun or blaster from Harbor Freight actually makes pistons look like new,
Use some old piston rings, break them and clean the gunk in the groove.
Best out of all the chemicals I've tried to date is...... white vinegar. Super cheap and 100% effective
