Jay Carr fr that man (and lifeson) had to play a synth pedal, at the same time he was playing some complex ass amazing bass part AND he had a synthesizer next to him for certain songs
Makes it good and real. I remember hearing Dave Mathews saying he changes lyrics and riffs all the time especially because it gets boring doing the same every night and also people change and have different thoughts than what's on a song they did years ago.
"Meg isn't a great drummer." Thats the point. Jack White prefers that. He's said in many interviews that he liked how simple and powerful it was. He's a drummer before a guitarist and he can play much more intricately, but doesn't like it with the white stripes. Listen to his solo stuff when he plays with his bands and plays White Stripes songs, they are good, but the more complex and proper drumming kind of takes away from the "thump" of Meg. God bless Meg for her basic drumming and Jacks godly not giving a shit attitude!
In a world where every drummer wants to do some crazy technical death metal style drumming, someone like Meg is such a relief to play with. You minimal drummers, god bless you.
Tyler Gibb f... that Meg is an awesome drummer. That wasn’t an attack! Lol She plays exactly what fits the music. And I’m a thirty year jazz drummer with a Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones type style. A good drummer keeps the tempo and plays what the song needs. So Ringo and Meg are both excellent drummers/musicians. Musicianship is the most important factor not chops. Chops don’t get the gig...
@@benlogan430 Meg doesn't keep tempo tho? She's a sloppy drummer and whilst I can understand why some people find that appealing, I can also understand others find it frustrating.
I can't get over the power with which he plays that airline guitar. It's so crappily made but he made it so popular. It goes to show that it's all about the player.
First of all, I know we weren't supposed to comment on Meg, but I must say, she's my most favourite non-Swedish drummer. Her presence and attitude is awesome. She's so primal, and in difference to so many other drummers, she actually PLAYS her instrument, instead of just keeping the beat up. Much love for her.
Love this so much. It's probably my favorite White Stripes song. I saw the Raconteurs last night and it was a great show, and it turned electrifying when Jack was up front. Still, it kills me a little bit to know that I never saw him do this, and I guess I never will.
+cutie fan I've been a drummer for 35 years and this is far from brilliant drumming but with the dumbing down of society I can see how you think so. This is all complete garbage.
How many things are going on in his head?! Playing his tiny organ while playing guitar and one second later he switches to singing an playing one of the best riffs ever🔥
I was at this festival, little did anyone know this would be the last time they'd play live.It was an unbelieveable experience. They create a sound far greater than many bands, with just the two of them. Anyone who likes this style should check out Black Keys and Archie Bronson Outfit. Wolfmothers first album is a good homage to Led Zep/Hendrix sound.
I prefer probably at least 80% of songs I hear live. Hearing the artist play it live and all the changes and raw emotion is what music is all about to me. All a matter of opinion tho. I personally think if you think most songs arent good live, you've got a lot of different bands and music to be listening to.
He uses a Digitech Whammy WH-1, an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi, an Electro-Harmonix Polyphonic Octave Generator (POG), a MXR Micro-Amp, and a Boss tuner. He plugs the effects into a 1970s Fender Twin Reverb amp and two 100-Watt Sears Silvertone 6x10 combo amps. He also gets a lot of tone from his 1965 JB Hutto Montgomery Airlines guitar. The double microphones give stereo sound and louder vocals. He also had all his pedals painted red.
Okay but can we appreciate that the tech guy at the beginning totally looked like he was part of the show? Like I don't think I've ever seen an artist as dedicated to aesthetics as Jack White.
Meg: I'm an introvert with anxiety issues.
Jack: Let's do festivals.
Meg: I don't want to play drums anymore.
Jack: (surprised Pikachu)
Probably wasn’t their choice, Jack is known for hating festivals
Just because I'm black
😂😂😂😂
@Sam Forbes don't listen to your mum
jack white, one of the best riff makers of the 21st century.
Jonathan Taylor yeah
Jerry Cantrell
LOL
J Mascis
Andrew stockdale
This song sounds like it’s going to fall apart at any second, but it doesn’t. Beautiful.
perfect way of describing this performance tbh
Incroyable ! 🤦♂️
I still try to find the time.
New to the white stripes?
Absolutely no fucks were given when he played that key board haha love it
Emily Cordova he fucked his guitar
I call that being lazy.
Noah Harned I call it awesomeness
Emily Cordova he just fucked up and hit keys
Hella lazy, playing keyboard while he hammer ons chord changes.
This is so goddamn raw. I love it.
Auxioslave does seven nsfion army way better. He is no match for Cornell and Morello
Rodney Gabbard do me a favor and look up how old jack white is. It says he died when he was 8
+Drdoodleloops your comment gave me the lolz
Giggity
You could run a small country with the energy those two put into their shows.
Best. Band. Ever.
Jack White:
Hardest Working Man In Music
after Jack Black!
Interviews are alot of hardwork. Look up Tim Alexander
Steven Wilson's up there too
damon albarn!
John Zorn, Mike Patton, Trey Spruance, Josh Homme, .... Robert Fripp.... and it goes on
Am i the only one who get shivers when he start to play that riff in the chorus?
tchaco lynma yo for real I don't even drink but when he plays that I wanna shoot heroin lol. So goddamn good.
No
I thought it was gonna be like the live seven nation army
Definetely not! Shivers from head to toe 🎸😎
*Octave pedal engaged, eargasm incoming*
multi-tasking at it's finest
check Geddy Lee
charlie172011 I love Jack, but you are soooo right.
Jay Carr fr that man (and lifeson) had to play a synth pedal, at the same time he was playing some complex ass amazing bass part AND he had a synthesizer next to him for certain songs
Omar Capaso yeah geddy lee does something similar
yep, almost like a drummer...
I like the fact that despite having anxiety, once things got going, Meg started feeling the music. Hell of a drummer too.
jack white is a fucking boss..
who needs that pasty cunt this man in genius !
si veda 😋

Buy Maine potato!
The fact that this is a two man band blows my mind. Props to Jack and Meg for finding their sound and perfecting it.
Jack doesnt give no fucks on changing the sound of a song. I love it
Yeah, its about the soul, the emotion, the feeling.

Tyler Gibb saw them live in Cleveland...and watched Meg make love to that kit all night. It was incredible.

You kind of wanted to defend her performance but ended up making it look worse that you implied people thought it was, haha.
Never was a big fan of The White Stripes ,but that's a whole lot power coming off that stage from just two people. Very raucous
Dan true
There arent many people that go into the music and perform with such passion as Jack White
@Cobb Knobbler is passion measurable
jack white is such an energetic player at times it seems like the guitar almost takes him over.
You know why people hates Meg so much? It's because she really doesn't give a shit about what people think.
Shut up, Meg.
Truda mudo No, it's because she can't keep time.
Pedro Dutra actually she does care, that's the whole reason they broke up
I can't get over the power with which he plays that airline guitar. It's so crappily made but he made it so popular. It goes to show that it's all about the player.
might be a custom
Jeremiah Fernandez its not

it's a crap guitar from the 70s or some shit. Made of plastic. It was for sale in high street shops I think.
Mr.Burns-On_Acid but cool as shit
Never understood how a band this talented and original actually managed to break through and become as successful as they were
U answered your own question ya wanker
@@Codexter1 😆
I think they were equally surprised at that! It's a miracle.
It's down to the the quality and sheer number of their catchy songs. It ain't complicated.
Can't believe I forgot about this gem of a song. Gonna be listening to this now for weeks.
Jack White is a Genius.
No. He's smart, but not a genius.
Genio
nope he is a crazy fucking genius
@Cobb Knobbler lol I bet you're a lot of fun at parties
@Cobb Knobbler Jesus fuck, how is it possible for one person to suck as much as you do?
I love how Jack doesn't play in any specific key, just an old Rusty keys he found in the woods. Love it.
5 years after I first watched this and I still get goosebumps.
Show me two musicians that can bring this energy to a stadium? It’s a feat.
Black Keys could do it until they upscaled
bruh the riff is actually one of the most badass riffs ive ever heard. like top 3
That guitar!!! It makes them The White Stripes
+Chad Huber and by Meg's unique drumming-sound/style.
I watched jack encourage his son to step on it ect
Mr.Burns-On_Acid it’s bolted together and when set up these guitars are far from crap

astonishingly brilliant, full of vibrancy ,life and blood guts and sweat....love it...
you see the beauty is in their simplistic yet awesome sound 👌🏼
White Stripes concerts were pure chaos.
Beautiful, glorious chaos
I love this song live. I saw them in Bakersfield CA but couldn't record
Is Jack White gifted or what? Genius.
Eric Bush dude, all of that shit is an understatement. HE IS A GOD.
Eric Barger lol what?

He’s THE SHIT
That song is like boss fight at the and of game ....
my favorite song from the white stripes
Such musical prowess from only a duo, huh??Loved them when they were together.

Hail the God of MLG: Snoop Dogg: Son of Illuminati Her Bf is pissed off rn
I Miss these guys so much. It's a bloody shame we'll never see them in concert, or make a new album ever again.
Every live performance with The White Stripes is like a jam session, I love it!
this sounds so much better than any recording of this song I've ever heard
That riff in the chorus though, just legendary!
This energy is amazing and intense. Amazing sound abd performance.
this dude is a pro, guitar, drums. and vocal thats raw. I wish I could be that entertaining
Raw and beautiful!
Jack and Meg please make another album!!!
The band broke up 5 years ago
+Benson Wood I know that's why I said please, it would be awesome they are great live
This band has been no longer existing for 5 years ..
Jack White is easily the most talented musician of our generation.
I don't know why, but I love the keyboard sounds in that song.
It's because you're smart.

2:43 Jack slightly keeps Meg from speeding up. Musically these two were absolutely perfect for each other.
We need more of this!
How can you not be impressed by a very loud talented Rock group with only two members.
Only one member, really.
Just two people making all that music, best rock band/artist to hit Grammy stage
I LOVE THIS HE LITERALLY COULDNT CARE LESS
I hate all the dumb people who just don`t understand Meg White`s brilliant drum playing!!LOVE Meg White!!!

How many things are going on in his head?! Playing his tiny organ while playing guitar and one second later he switches to singing an playing one of the best riffs ever🔥
AWESOME. One of my old favorites.

This man is phenomenal. One day my dream is to do a music collaboration with him.
rarely do I get goosebumps... good god.
love meg
Wait... They don't have a bassist?
nah they don't, for some of the songs Jack White will tune his low E and A string down to make it sound more bassy
When they play Seven Nation Army he has his guitar tunned to open A, and in this tuning E and A string are the same as in default tuning.
He doesn't downtune anything for the bass. He just uses an octave pedal on top of some drive to replace a bass player when needed
+Gen WT he tunes to open A for slide and uses the whammy as well
+Kiran Evetts I'm no Jack White expert, so you likely know better than me. But I know for a fact he doesn't downtune the lower strings
God god god that is soooo good...thank you for letting me hear this
I miss you guys

holy crap... these 2 make the sound a 7 players band would.
