People always say that I sound Jamaican whenever I’m talking and when I tell them that I’m from Bluefields, Nicaragua they look at me all surprise and ask but y do you sound Jamaican? So I decided to make this video to explain the story behind my Accent. Hope you guy’s enjoy. Please don’t forget to Like/Share/comment.

And we in 2019 and these shits still need to be explained, that dude was more than ignorant, we who are from Bluefields know the struggle of trying to speak Spanish properly, we speak it because we have to not because we want to, I had the privilege to study at Spanish speaking schools and universities and still my Spanish is not proper Lol, not because we are Nicaraguan means we should know to speak Spanish the right way, Nicaragua is so diverse in culture and in way os speaking as well, because even in the pacific side, they speak Spanish but you can tell when someone is from Jinotega or Estelí, because of their accent, ese maje es un hpta, and not because we sounds Jamaican means we are from there, aaaaaay dem wah ah slap dats wat!

Anyways everytime i show my friends in Brooklyn the black side of Nicaragua they be like yooo ima go there son! I be like you missing out, no doubt. Anyways subscribed gotta show love.
Many Nicaraguans are the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Jamaicans and Cayman Islanders. Many people migrated from both islands to work on the coast in the early 1900’s!!
Our History go way back at the end of the day we are all one we were just scattered all over that’s all.
Thanks for that info me as Nicaragüense who half of my roots are from Bluefields didn't know much of that history bc my dad left Nica yo the US when I was too young in the 80's

To work no love they got ship due too slavery 1500s Jamaica maroon were being ship to Nicaragua cause the British wanted full control of Jamaica but the maroon wouldn’t allow it so had too ship them out

Good history! I'm Jamaican and many of us don't know our connections to people in Bluefields, Nicaragua; Colon, Panama; and Limon, Costa Rica. There need to be more videos like this one.
hopefully we start to learn about each other soon enough cause we need to learn to embrace one another.
Nicaragua caribbean coast is like Jamaica, places like Pearl Lagoon, Monkey Point, Corn Islands, Marshall Point, Sandy Bay, Orinoco etc etc
My mother is from Bluefields, Nicaragua (Old Bank) and her brother moved to Limon, Costa Rica. A lot of my family still resides in these places and we here in the US visit often. We love our Bluefields!!!!!

Exactly my my grandpa was born in colon Panama and migrated to Jamaica.
When I tell people I’m Nicaraguan the first thing most people say is where is that. 99.9% of the time people mistake me for Jamaican. I’m impress with how much you know about our history, much respect to you brother.
Hardly people know about Nicaragua is pretty crazy but is truth and that’s why is our obligation to expand our culture and let people know that we here to 💪🏾

I"m Nicaraguan, born like an hour from Managua but grew up mostly in Miami. I found out about Bluefields through TH-cam and I absolutely love that there's more to Nicaragua than the Spanish-speaking Pacific coast. I love it! diversity is good man 👍

Nicaragua is the only Latin American country that is bilingual and colonized by both spanish and English settling mixed with Native Americans
@@MrEasy1988 Panama, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras, Venezuela and Guatemala are all bilingual Spanish-English with Jamaican or other Caribbean origins for the English parts.
@@tkautzor yes but not native like Nicaragua or Jamaica sure these other countries you mentioned have English speaking foreigners but unlike Nicaragua and Jamaica they speak what is known to be a patwa or creole English and yes there is a difference in American or British English vs Jamaican or Nicaragua English spoken by natives from those countries
@@MrEasy1988 the Afro-Caribbeans in those countries are not foreigners, they have been in those countries for generations just like those West Indians in Bluefields. They speak Limonese Creole, Bocas del Toro Creole, Roatan Creole or other variations of Jamaican Patois or other British Caribbean Creoles which have all been imported from the British Caribbean. You can also add Colombia to the list, where English Creole from Jamaica is spoken by the native Raizals.
The accents are pretty close. I'm still very surprised. Thanks for the history.

Great information.👍🏾 Those people hating definitely don’t understand Caribbean culture or have experience with mixed cultures. In my family alone, I have so many things mixed in simply just being Jamaican. I was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and have Spanish, Chinese, Ghanaian, Indian, Dutch, German etc in my family. My grand mother looks “white” but speaks patois. The Jamaican national motto states ‘out of many one people’ so of course we are all family and connected in some way. 🇯🇲🇳🇮 Keep representing, educating and being who you are.🤗✨

Thank you for this video! My grandmother is from Bluefields, Nicaragua. People don’t understand Spanish can sound differently, a Dominican speaking Spanish sounds totally different than someone who’s from Spain or El Salvador.

There was actually a Miskito chief who was from Jamaica, born in Kingston in the 1870s, named Robert Henry Clarence, his descendants still live in Jamaica to this day!

@@NicaFlow505 You're welcome, I often find that people from Jamaica haven't even heard of the Miskito people, let alone Chief Clarence, despite there being some evidence that there were "Indian" slaves from the Mosquito Coast who were shipped to Jamaica in the 18th century, it's a real shame
@@gatheringleaves As far as I know, the Miskitos brought to Jamaica were tracksmen hired by the British to hunt down runaways in the Maroon communities. They stayed and intermarried with the locals.

Yessssss mah mother only learned Spanish when she left big corn. The language was creole English until development start happenin
I have a similar story my Dad was born in Pearl Lagoon, and my Mother was born in Bluefields but I was born on a military base in the Panama Canal Zone (my Father was in the Army at the time). Both of my parents could speak fluent Spanish but never taught me lol (I'm trying to learn on my own). Another thing people always ask me is how come I don't have a Hispanic last name like Perez, Rodriguez, or Ramirez. My last name is Hawkins.
Me too gyal!!!! These latinos look down on me because I don't speak Spanish. My parents spoke creole English to me and not Spanish. My father is from Bluefields and my mother is from Puerto Cabeza. Also my first and last name is English. But I am 100% Nicaraguan!

I just ran into this video. I really appreciate it because my parents were from Bluefields. My dad thought school there in the sixties. I grew up in Managua speaking Spanish. Just before the earthquake. But when my parents partied with friends from la Costa they would just start talking with the costeño accent. In Managua, spoke Spanish like nothing. Un par de tragos, y se les venía el Ace to costeño. Thanks for the cultural renewal. I hope this finds you well

I grew up in Jamaica. I know Bluefields. It’s close to the waters on the western end of the island. That’s the first place I thought of when you mentioned it.
our history go way back i would love to know a lil more about the Bluefields in Jamaica and y they put the name.
@@NicaFlow505 Bluefields is a beach in Wewtmoreland, Jamaica. Would be pretty interesting to know the origins of both place names.
The majority of us are Jamaican descendants and or mixed with English, Irish, Scottish .
Some are mixed with native indigenous people, some with Chinese, some with Spanish , and even Germans . The dialect definitely came from Jamaica , as the British took slaves from Jamaica to Corn island and Bluefields , and the spread out to other communities. The dialect started to dilute as we came in contact with the Spanish people from the pacific side of Nicaragua, once the Caribbean coast became annexed to Nicaragua government. The Caribbean coast was isolated for centuries.
That's Facts and is crazy but a lot of people don't know that, so thank you for sharing cause somebody will see that and learn something from it as well.

Hi bro, I just came across your video in regards to Nicuragwa and Jamaicans. Our Jamican culture is similar because a lot of the people in Jamaica left to go and help build the Panama Canal with the British and many of them did not return back to Jamaica; some went to Costa Rica, some went to Nicuragwa, some went to Honduras, and some went to Belize. That's the reason why even the food are quite similar like run-down stew which isn't African, but Jamaican and many other foods are the same. I also have friends from Saint Andres which have Jamaican connections. So, don't worry about pleasing people, just be who you are; and whenever people from these Spanish countries are playing football and we Jamaicans heard their last name which is English, we know this person probably is of Jamaican descendant. So, be proud of who you are in every way.

Nicaragua was a British colony, and the governor was in Jamaica at that time...

Correction they were there already in Jamaica and Nicaragua before the construction of Panama canal , and the British had nothing to do with the construction of the panama canal.

Blessed Love Breds Great Video, As A White Guy who has lived in the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua for over twenty years my accent has changed also; so it happens both ways, for people from the Coast who go North and Gringos like me who head South, and Coast people who have to go work in Managua adapt to Pacific Latino Culture. Be who you are, people who attack us and say we are imitating are the ones who are not comfortable yet in their own souls, great history bro!! give thanks

Even in Spanish happens a lot, my sister lives in US after being exposed and worked for years to a lot of Korean Argentinians when she talks her Spanish sounds Nica Spanish with a lot of Argentinian words and modismos.i've seen Salvadoreans that have lived for a long time in Texas when they speak Spanish they sound Mexican!!! You are not crazy I can relate

Although I was born in Managua. I completely lost my Spanish. Especially after moving to the US. I am trying to regain it. Growing up I got asked a lot if my mother was Jamaican. It is unfortunate that so many have lack of knowledge of the different countries. Jamaica is not the only country where people do have this accent.. I love Nicaragua and its culture. I look forward to visiting Bluefields and Corn Island one day. I am fascinated by its history.
