- Here it is lady's and gentlemen the reveal of my Edelbrock Supercharged FRS! I know you guys have been telling me to boost my car for a long time and it is finally here! In this video I show you guys just why I chose the Edelbrock Supercharger and why I decided to boost an automatic transmission FRS/BRZ. If any of you guys out there have a auto FRS/BRZ and are looking to boost reliably consider this kit because I am very happy with it so far.

@@imquincuh1656 except TJ hunts BRZ was supercharged for forever before he went turbo last year. Also same widebody and pretty similar wheels from when TJ had the rep kit. This is a sick build and I'm not hating but it's not unique. Almost identical to TJs car from a year or two ago, but TJs car was also almost identical to about 17 other 86s. Still the supercharger does seem better than the turbo kits, especially if you're actually going to drive the car.

Before I retired I worked at Gulf States Toyota, I remember when the FRS first came out around 2013 the guys were excited to drive them.
Finally someone who boosts an automatic with explanation.
It actually turns out the auto trans is better to boost than the manual
I've always wanted to super charge my manual BRZ. I also want a nice gradual boost in the rpms plus the more reliability compared to a turbo. I'm saving up for the Jackson Racing C30 kit!

Imo I think it's more important to have fun driving the car than big power. I'm sure once you go smaller pulley + e85 you'll be more than happy with the driving experience despite not being "fast" enough to beat others in races etc.

Got mine ordered! Supercharger, pulley kit, manifold, and fuel injectors. Has other mods, already. Shop will install and tune. E85 fuel=300 whp

Max Orido runs a HKS supercharger on his 86 - that being said i also think he changed his final drive ratio on the gearbox as well.
its not worth doing a manual swap unless you are going to do it all yourself and with a different transmission then the stock brz/frs ones. also personally id keep the auto its better for boost in the long run anyways and is stronger then the manuals that came with this car. you'll blow the engine probably before the auto. id worry more about the con rods. built engine might be a wiser investment down the line. but if your just on the stock kit no fuel pump flexfuel injectors and a smaller pully don't stress. :D
also im a boosted frs owner too i went with a jackson racing kit instead

The stock automatic transmission can handle more HP (Turbo) than a manual transmission.
I’ve been reading up on it and it looks like that’s true. I just need to upgrade the torque converter and we’ll be in business! So stay tuned
Yes, that is probably true. I have a question for you. What idiot in their right mind would buy this car in an automatic? and before you say "Horse Power" I would like to remind you that Subaru and Toyota said "no" to HP when they created this car.

You get a manual for fun, you get an automatic for transportation, and you get those stupid flappy panel shifters for track times.

Yeahhh man!!! Good stuff, nothing beats modding your own whip. I’ve got an ATS that I have modded through ZZ Performance. It’s way faster than stock. We got to get you to that 400hp. Nice pops too...

I have to admit, I expected more "whoosh" and power. I get the automatic trans thoughts, probably best decision you made with your choices. Are there options to beef up capability of auto trans? What is the limit with current trans? I dig it man, not my favorite car, but yours is pretty badass. I think the body and wheels were perfect transformation, let's not forget the big wing gang👍

The way the kit comes doesnt allow for much sound but we are working for a fix on that now 😉

Edelbrock should be fine for daily driving with the linear power delivery. I just want to know 0-60 times with the Edelbrock and stock internals.

Yes it does sound a lot louder, idk why. And sadly this kit doesn’t come with a blow off valve option but we are working on something else for the sound

Ether way you have to rebuild the transmission Whether it is an automatic or manual you have to do work to it to handle the power so just upgrade your automatic and be happy

That 60-80 tho was something i drive a 2015 ford focus SE and it takes maybe 3 seconds

I know the Edelbrock supercharger kit is like $6500 how much was it with the install and the tune? Cuz I want one and I also have the auto stick. So thanks for telling me about the trans issue. I don't mind that it doesn't sound loud. Also what kind of exhaust you have on it? It sounds great on the road.
Ni e build... but you are verry wrong about the automatic vs manual for boost... auto's hold and handle way more boost for far less money into the transmission.
An air box upgrade should fix that supercharger whine for you.
