I got the eddelbrock supercharger, had to get the D box Smoothie and then a custom tune also. Quite a few kinks to work out, including a leaky supercharger from summit racing, which was exchanged at no cost (other than additional labor out of my pocket) but all in all I'm very happy with the kit. It's like driving a whole different car.

You got it the other way around .. injectors is alot more important than fuel pump.. And you only have to worry about that if you want to run e85 or past 300 mark

could you make a parts list of your set up? I am looking into getting one for my BRZ. Also from my research, everyone is saying when you install any forced induction you need to upgrade the MAF sensor as the stock one can not properly function. Great video BTW, thanks for the info.

Heads up, replace the hard to reach hose clamps with screw on ones.. screw and 10mm hex in one bolt. I would never re-use the stock clamp anyways, for assurance.
the clamp you are referring to is actually the worst option to use. it uses a screw to draw against a ribbed band. that ribbed band actually cuts into the rubber over time and causes the clamp to fail prematurely.
@@ethangonzales3000 they make clamps similar to the worm style that are a Sid band, meant for fuel lines, that is the best readily available aftermarket clamp imo

hey! i just bought a supercharged frs with 30k miles and the build is extremely high quality...but i’ve had 2 belts on me snap already. i’m thinking it’s in relation to the tensioner pulley/idlers and since i heard you mention it in the video, why did you recommend to replace it at around 30k miles, does this have something to do with my belt?
Not a lot of maintenance after a week the level holds steady and they just use Subaru coolant so I'll flush it every 2-3 years. It should stay cleaner than engine coolant.
@@bh5697 in the first week just keep topping it off, let it go through some heat cycles, then it should be ok, it's really easy with the electric pump.
@@bh5697 you can fill it while the pump is running, I got the special funnel and never needed it, the system doesn't get that hot. The air will purge it's self from the system. in the first week. Just keep an eye on the tank and don't let it get too low.

supercharger was on sale for 4200 when I got it, I did my own install and tune. But plan on around 6000. One of the reasons I'm doing these videos is to show what the system is capable of and so far V8 power for $6000 no engine swap.

not yet but similar build have 285 on pump gas 335 HP on flex fuel and mine feels on par with that. I was pulling a 17 mustang with a tune so I know it's running good.
I have a stock engine, 5w 30 oil and Jackson oil cooler. 3" pulley max with a good tune and E85 it should live. Over 400HP will break the rods for sure. I'm around 375HP est...
get the edelbrock if you want tons of power at low rpm and down the line you will need a good custom tune. The jackson is good but it will be more top end power. the edelbrock has instant power and really strong mid range up to 7500...
fellow edelbrocker, interesting video but a few disagreements. fuel pump and injectors aren't necessary unless you're pumping e85.. not sure why you're saying they're mandatory. mine runs perfect on 91 octane, stock header with custom dyno tune. At about 55k miles, 10k of those with the 'Brock. power comes on at 2500 rpm which is highly noticeable in daily driving. yeah it's easier to bring the rear out with the power but i think you might have screwed up your suspension a bit with the sway bars, totally unnecessary.
if you have a good tune and exhaust the pump can't keep up and the stock injectors will be maxed out... or like I say my pump was bad... so stock may support 240 hp but not 300hp safely...
my tune is great, dyno tuned by Zach Tucker who is the ft86 tuning wiz seems like. 260ish whp no problem, though I forget what type of dyno it is. Although I’m in CA so the header is untouched. Just a cat back for me. 100% stock fueling. 300hp plus is asking for trouble with the engine on these but you only live once eh?
So whats the final list of what I absolutely need for 300whp? Do I need the tensionar and idler pulleys? I know I need the fuel pump, and Ill get the 700cc injectors.

You should be fine with the stock tune and a cat back. when you get it going do data logs to make sure everything is ok, no knocking and correct F/A ratio and don't go crazy till you know every thing is OK..
Hahaha you think the PS4S is the stickiest tire you can get, the RE71R and A052 would like to say hi. Those technically aren't even R-compound tires, like the NT01.
@@angelcano4567 so the 4s is a 300tw tire...and a very very good one in that category...the u said the next step is the cup tires...which is a very good "100tw category" tire....but ur missing the 200tw tire category...look them up...AO52...RE71....RS pro...RS4...all those are 200tw street tires and are better than a 300tw 4s but not a semi slick like the cup tires are...hope that helps u out

For spring clamps , use the remote (with cable).
From sears craftsman or snap-on.

the kit comes with a bigger intake tube to recalibrate the MAF, mine is still original one, but burned up an o2 sensor.
So when the alternator needs replacing, you have to remove the supercharger first? 😮

Over 300 whp with a stock motor ( not built ) is pushing it. The bottom end is at its limit. If you keep at 280 whp thats where you want it stock

Both on E85 the Edelbrock on a stock pulley is over 100+ WHP, it's a HUGE difference.

completely different heads and cams same for WRX, BRZ has larger valves, ports and cams.

I replaced all my pulleys to be safe, ck you alinement, the super charger can adjusted a little back and forth.

Should you upgrade your clutch or stay stock clutch if you supercharge between 250 and 300+?
You will need a better clutch at some point.

I just supercharged mine at 60K many people have 100K boosted no problems..
Don't do it with that many miles on it and expect it to not malfunction somewhere.

I had 225 4S all around, whet to 245 4S and now nittos R888R in the rear and still spins. but 245 of 255s in the rear for sure.

Does the supercharger de-clutch when not under load? Or it is completely engine parasitic throughout the rev range regardless of load?
It never de-clutches but it's always building boost so you are making more power even at idle.
Would love to trade my wrx for a Brz and supercharge it but already too much money invested on the wrx. :( Maybe in the future.

It is possible to replace alternator without removing super charger. Trust me it took forever but it’s possible
very hard I think I had to grind on the alternator to get it in, but i don't know how you would get it out..
Also what fuel pump are you running?
He answered this in another reply where someone asked what injectors and pump he had, his response was: "DW300 pump and DW 700 cc injectors"

Supercharger, exhaust, injectors, fuel pump and a tune put you at 280-300 on 93 and flex fuel gets you to 330-340 on the low boost pulley.
FRS GUY youre on forged internals im assuming? im staying stock
@@Niratic No all stock engine It should hold up to 350 HP. Hopefully it lives and the next step may be a built engine and 450 HP.

The stock fuel system tops out at 315 whpish. I’m also running edelbrock sc on my Brz making 302whp/226wtq on 93 with stock fuel...

Up to this point 8" X 18 with 225 40 Michelin 4S I now have 8.5 X 18 with 245 X 40 in the rear.
