I've been clearing my house as my ex husband is a hoarder (unfortunately not antiques, just broken junk that he was going to fix). But the amount of good stuff I see being discarded is just heartbreaking.
I wish that Goodwill bins would open up as a benefit and Goodwill for the folks who've lost EVERYTHING in the hurricanes, and any number of disasters that have befallen our people.
I think that's an excellent idea! I'm a Carolina girl. I am from the NC mountains. I have lived in Asheville a couple of times, and in several other towns in the area. I was born about 45 minutes away, in Sylva. My heart is broken for our people, animals, and the beautiful land. So much help will be needed for many years to come. My family reunion is next weekend in Hendersonville, at my cousin's. He insisted on still having it. I can't go this year, but most of the family is going, and taking donations that they have gathered. My cousin says sleeping bags are needed. Kids need toys. I'm sure winter coats are also needed. I've heard that a lot of clothing has been sent, but it's a lot of overly worn things. If anyone feels so inclined, please help. Let's not forget those in Florida too. Thank you for bringing it up, and thinking of them.
So sorry for your family, Debbie. i'm a Carolina girl, too, now in Coastal SC. Several trucks have gone to the Mtns. from here loaded with items. I pray those suffering received what they needed. Cat
Another tip at the bins... dig to the bottom. A lot of people rifle through clothes or things on top and miss the true treasures on the bottom! Smaller items fall to the bottom, heavier items fall to the bottom. I've found all my best finds when I have dug to the bottom.
Lol you just blew my mind Laura! That photography book was wrote by my Mom's boss, Ted Schwarz. lol She typed that book! He is a really great photographer and really nice guy. I was almost on the cover of that book but I was too shy. haha. Anyway, that reminded me of my mom, and when I texted my sister, she couldn't believe it and said she still has that book. Ted was on the Geraldo show and also wrote the book "The Hillside Strangler" about Ken Bianchi. He actually dedicated a book he wrote about adoption to my mom and dad.
I love the bins! I have found so many valuable things. I found a tie that I just sold for $170, I found a sterling silver bracelet that I sold for $105. I found a pair of vintage Doc Martens that I sold for $400. And I don’t rush their stuff. If it’s meant for me I will find it.
You're so blessed have a such a nice companiable man to go with you, who doesn't argue or rush you and who likes to discuss and laugh about your finds. Every day would be a good day with someone like that. 🥰
We love the bins! We have found signed books, art worth $400.00. many pieces of furniture, but my favorite find is my designer leather purse that was worth 360.00. I'm a purse hoarder and have spent hundreds on purses and yet this is the one I continue to carry. And I'm proud to say I Got it at the bins!
I used to be the costume designer for a truly fabulous K-12 public school drama department. I was gathering materials for "Sweet Charity". At the Seattle bins I found someone's whole wardrobe of original handmade hippie clothes from the 1960's which worked very well for the Big Daddy scene and saved me hours of work!!! Another great episode. Thank you Laura!
I love that you still go dig through the bins even with all your success. It's really cool to think that you're saving stuff from going to a landfill. I have always loved and shopped vintage, but your videos have really inspired me to try to buy anything I can secondhand if possible.
I've never been to the bins; but I've watched hundreds of videos of others shop there. The one thing I noticed about 1st time bins shoppers, is they usually first get there and think everything is junk. It takes time and patience, and an open mind. You can't go there looking for a specific item. You have to take what the bins gods are offering that day. I recently watched a reseller go for the first time, and she wanted to leave, because she thought it was all junk. She stuck it out and ended up leaving with two carts full of merchandise! It's definitely not for the faint of heart! You found some great things! I think my favorite is the burl wood bowl.
Saturday morning, cup of coffee, and a thrifting video. Great fun. I got a god laugh around 26:45 because the "How to Start a Professional Photography Business" book that didn't appear to contain a single photograph.
My granddaughter Rose has been to the bins with me and her favorite finds have been Squishmallows. When we get home they always get the spa treatment before they move into her room. Thank you for going to the bins and sharing it with me.
Back in the 80s my friend and i did digging at a Goodwill in Portland by SE Hawthorn Blvd. You dug in a small building and then walked across the street to the retail store. It was 3 stories with a cafeteria. We always wore gloves. My adult girls still laugh about how their Mom took them digging before it became popular. Lol
I have a large bowl of the Mount St Helens ashware. I picked it up at a thrift store because I remember when it erupted growing up in southern Oregon I'm hoping you will make it collectible again😅
My favorite find ever was at the Milwaukie bins you visited (OR, not WI 😊) - a beautiful silk covered box. The weirdest find was at the same one- my friend and I walked to a bin and there was a baby happily sitting there amidst all the items. The mom was at the next bin and just decided to set the baby down. 😬 It’s a wild place but I always have fun - just don’t leave your baby in the piles
I’m from Southern Oregon but had to travel to Salem a week or so back. That would have been amazing to see you there! I walked in and immediately found a Frank & Eileen Rory dress that someone must have thrown back. It had a chewed up hem but I didn’t care! I was not leaving it! It was a bolo of mine forever! Got it home and looked it up. Turns out the distressing was factory done! Woo hoo! That dress is on their website for 398.00! When you made your traveling and thrifting south video you hit up one of my favorite little spots to thrift in Medford! You scored there too!! 😊❤
I learned that most Goodwill stores try to sell brand names and stuff with tags at a higher price. If no one buys them, they send them to the bins. That's why you can find really awesome deals in the bins on expensive brands. I love visiting the bins!
Around 40:20 you picked a metal plate stand. You should have bought it. I think I saw two. They are the best stands to hold large platters for decorative display. I really enjoyed this video!
Hi, bins are always a blast no matter what. Half the fun is figuring out what things are. The round frames you saw were plate frames, probably for Bradford or Franklin Mint collectible plates. Happy thrifting!
Another Aussie here. We don’t have bins in Australia so it was really interesting to see how the system works. Hard work but some amazing finds to be had. Thank you 🙏🏼
I love “book shoppin” at the bins. Have to set a limit before going in. I few handmade quilts and afghans. Jessie and Laura. Thank you for always encouraging others to support small businesses, do what you can for the environment, and sharing your time and knowledge with us.
Fantastic scores! This was so much fun to watch. Loved the watercolour you found at the end and that beautiful birch bowl. I can't believe the beautiful pieces of furniture you scored in the past. Finally, I really look forward to seeing you wearing that gorgeous free people dress. ❤❤
favorite bins find...a late 1800s early 1900 double pedestal butterfly leaf parlor or dining room table..and the leaves work..stuffed in a corner behind the raggedy couches for $5.99!..
The best thing I ever found was an old enamelware Bell Telephone sign. It has the emblem on it and it has the name Bell on it, and it has the edge where it was hung onto side of the telephone booth. It was at the Salem bins! I haven’t been up there in a little while because I live in the Eugene area, but I need to go up there again. I usually find quite a few things!
I think I should grab my friends for us to drive to your area to "jump dive" into those bins...so many useful and wearable items to choose from. Thanks Laura and Jesse for taking your viewers along with you shop "The Bins"👍😊🌹❤
This bin video is fantastic. I have never seen bins before. We live in a small city in Canada and have nothing like this. Such a wonderful way to find great items. You have a good eye too.
I also bring face/hand wipes and something to drink. My best find at the bins was a stunning Christmas red opera swing coat from the 1940's in mint condition. I sold it for $198.
You were missed, but know you had a wonderful time. I'm so glad you and Jesse took us to the bins. I've never seen them, don't think we have them here in NMB, SC. Love the things you found. After being flooded out by Matthew in 2017, my Church friend gave me clothes and shoes. Then I learned to shop at the Salvation Army, and then Goodwill. I added Church Rummage Sales, and continue to shop them all today although no longer in need. Looking forward to your next Friday sale. Blessings, Cat
Thank you so much for this video! I have been wanting to tackle the bins but had no idea how it works and was allowing myself to get overwhelmed just thinking about it!
Just to get the feel for the bins, try going at an off time. Saturdays are super busy, and chaotic I like Sunday afternoon. If you get a chance to watch, there is a channel on YT, and she has ranked the GW bins (across the country) she has been to.
My friend Beth from Texas loves to find childrensbooks at the bins as a teacher. I loved the chairs and the tableleggs That blazer is a grate fit on you, Laura . Loved the dress and linnens. I m a scarfy for shure. Lovecthe Tonala turtle! As far as I know no bins in Belgium. I would go to the bins too. I would digg in the books. I love artbooks but new they are to ecpensive Grate finds x
Great video as always. My favourite find at the bins was a pair of genuine Valentino lace up black ankle boots in my size. They retail for about $1600 USD. That was a good day!
I found a cool wool El Paso saddle blanket, twin size, gorgeous colors! Vintage Ralph Lauren Saturday jeans, full PB kids sheet set, PB duvet with shams!
That vintage colander is cool... I once saw a theatre in Chicago use them as light fixtures, they put two together to make a sphere, and the light patterns were so cool. They also had them as sconces. I always thought I would try to do that if I ever had an outdoor space that would suit it.
You can put fabric items in a black trash bag and seal or tie it and leave it in your car with the windows up (especially in the summer) and the heat will kill any bug, especially bed bugs.
Every time a new episode comes up, I get so excited! You are my favorite TH-camr lately. I am surprised you didn’t find more at the Salem bins, it’s my favorite! Another great episode.
I love the bins! I never go there without gloves. Even when I go very late in the day and it’s picked over, I always find something great. Mine auctions the furniture in and adjoining but separate room starting at very low prices. Overall ours is small. I didn’t know about a certain amount pushing the price down, I just know it’s always a great deal whatever I get including some nice boots from time to time. Every bins video I have ever seen and at my bins in VA you have to stand behind the yellow line until all the bins are placed. I think that might be nationwide. I have never been at the opening time, I don’t believe. I will go one Saturday but I’m not a morning person.
I absolutely love the bins. My 10 year old daughter also loves digging at the bines. I just went to our bins 2 weeks ago. You definitely need to be patient but its worth it.
Hi Laura and Jessie. It was fun seeing you pick the bins and finding alot of treasures. I wish we had places like it in England but we don't. If I live in the states after seeing this episode I would go shop at the bins.
Watching this made me realise what a fussy princess I have become LOL Back in my 20s I would've looovvvved to go to the bins (Australian, we don't have them) - I went dumpster diving, tip larking, salvage yards... now my idea of roughing it is a local thrift where there's a table out in the rain. People who'll do the bins like this are the front line of vintage rescue and I have nothin' but respect for you all! I'll be waiting in the antique mall hahaha ❤
Amazing video as always! The mexican pottery is actually pronounced Tonalá, with the accent at the end. It’s made in the town by the same name in the state of Jalisco, which is renowned for their artisans in several different kinds of mediums.
The gold bar you thought was a towel rod is an under cabinet mounted wine glass holder. You put the base in through the wide end like Jessie said and they hang upside down.
This was a really fun one- I mean, all your videos are fun, but I love the bins!! All thrifting feels like a treasure hunt, but I feel like this is especially true of the bins. And you have such a good eye. I watch another reseller who’s in Utah and they find a lot of really great books and also quilts and afghans, or embroidered napkins like the ones you found. Thanks for your consistently great content.
@@SabrinaFox-vh7mq Yes, Jami and Zeb. The first time they came up in my TH-cam feed, I realized I had been in their shop when I was visiting my sister. Their “bins” videos are what really hooked me.
Laura!! I’m going to Paris with you and Jesse in May💕💕I can’t wait! I’m so glad you had a great time traveling but I’m happy you’re back. Looking forward to your videos and the next first Friday sale 😊
I have found a beautiful baccarat angel in perfect condition. I always wondered how it survived the bins. I also look at alot of books and sometimes look inside for an author signed book. Those are very fun to find. I always enjoy shopping at the bins.
We’ve missed you. My last trip to the bins I found a pair of solid brass planters with nautical shell handles. Found the exact item sold for $225. And I found two of them 🤩😍
They don’t have goodwill bins near me…I just love watching you & Jesse shopping together ❤❤❤Great finds! I buy used neckties, there are a few really expensive brands I’ve found & resell!!
It's funny I was just at the bins before the airing of this episode. I spent $10. Our bins don't have nearly the amount of hard goods and most are not breakable due to potential liability. But I found 2 feather pillows, a hand made dashaki shirt - in amazing condition and a Tanzanian hand woven tribal basket plus a stuffed animal for my dog, a handwoven blue wool heart rug and a nice faux floral swag. Your bins are amazing!! You did fantastic!!! Blessings!
Just flew to Denver to shop the bins with my sister from Grand Junction. We wanted to have our first trip together. Found an amazing Italian cashmere woolen coat and much more. I'm converted. New rule, can't go until everything is listed from last trip! 😊
Oh that mug holder! I don't like words either but that was awesome! And the ornate gold mirror at the airport location! I'm surprised at what great clothes you found!
When I ever I see all of this stuff that has been discarded, it reminds me of what a wasteful, consumer-driven society we are.
💯 It’s heartbreaking!
An what's replacing it is total garbage
Donating to charities is a thoughtful and deliberate act, not discards 😊
@@mezanian yes, a good outcome for all of these things. I’m alluding to the purchase in the first place, if you follow me.

Hmm..now that's a thought
Great thought! Sadly I think they're money hungry

Agree 💯
There are so many people that have nothing! 😢
Goodwill should live up to it’s name and donate!!

Fellow costumer / costume designer here. I loved going to the bin store for costume materials.
The cedar chest is absolutely beautiful. 😊 Thanks for taking us to the bins. 😊😊. Great video.
One man’s Sports Coat is another woman’s blazer :)
Love these videos!
I love that you still go dig through the bins even with all your success. It's really cool to think that you're saving stuff from going to a landfill. I have always loved and shopped vintage, but your videos have really inspired me to try to buy anything I can secondhand if possible.
I was glued to this video. So many interesting things for eye candy. Please do some more bins extravaganzas in the future. Cheers.
Watching this made me want to hop in the car, and go to the bins. Then I remembered it is Saturday, and there's way to many people there on Saturdays.

I have a Lane cedar hopechest from the 70's. It is a brand I dont see anymore. It used to he sold by Levitz Home Furnishings in Ohio.
I love your tips because he bins can be overwhelminnnggg and a bit of overload.. so the more tips the better! Alsoooooo great scoresssss! 💃💃

Bins, bins, and more bins! Great tips on shopping at the bins.
Yes, you've convinced me to give the bins a shot! I'm particularly impressed with the scarves you found ... but, really everything. What a great haul!
It's really like a treasure hunt 😀!
If you can, avoid Saturday mornings, as that is the busiest, most chaotic.
I love the bins. I have refinished many pieces of beautiful wooden furniture and sent them off to new homes... Plus kept some for myself!
Around 40:20 you picked a metal plate stand. You should have bought it. I think I saw two. They are the best stands to hold large platters for decorative display. I really enjoyed this video!
Anything that you wash if you dry it in the sunshine, it actually gets out stains and sanitizes your sheets or clothing. It really works.❤
Thank you so much for all of these valuable tips on how to shop at the bins. Another amazing video.❤❤
Wow!!! 😮
You two are just adorable. Loved every second!
We missed you guys, too! Welcome home! ❤🎉
That big planter is from rite aid, I have the same one! They used to make tons of souvenirs of st. Helen’s ash after it blew so that makes sense!
I think I should grab my friends for us to drive to your area to "jump dive" into those bins...so many useful and wearable items to choose from. Thanks Laura and Jesse for taking your viewers along with you shop "The Bins"👍😊🌹❤

That's crazy about the St. Helen's ash shell. I live in Seattle, I never knew they made things out of the ash. Wild.
They make so many things out of the ash- you should google it & see how many different things come up. People got so creative, it’s amazing!
You were missed, but know you had a wonderful time. I'm so glad you and Jesse took us to the bins. I've never seen them, don't think we have them here in NMB, SC. Love the things you found. Welcome home!! You and Jesse were missed. Settling back to watch my favorite you tuber!!
We sure missed everyone here! So good to be home 😄
Love the trip to the bins, learned a ton of things. Thanks for sharing, I enjoy tge fact that you both enjoy so many things together!
The brass narrow rack is for wine glasses. You screw it in the ceiling of your bar and slide the glasses in upside down.

As far as I know no bins in Belgium.
I would go to the bins too.
I would digg in the books.
I love artbooks but new they are to ecpensive
Grate finds x
You two are so darn cute! Thank you for the video! I've gone to the bins, but never looked for clothes, but you've inspired me!
That thing you thought was a towel rack was for wine glasses. It mounts on the underside of a cabinet and the glasses hang upside down.
Oh, that makes sense.
Thank you for this video and the tips for the bins always so helpful
Great video as always. My favourite find at the bins was a pair of genuine Valentino lace up black ankle boots in my size. They retail for about $1600 USD. That was a good day!
Have loved watching you go through the list of the Goodwill options around you.Have seen all and agree the bins would be fun to try.
I found a cool wool El Paso saddle blanket, twin size, gorgeous colors! Vintage Ralph Lauren Saturday jeans, full PB kids sheet set, PB duvet with shams!
My add was on point. You guys are masters of the FIND! Love your videos

People who'll do the bins like this are the front line of vintage rescue and I have nothin' but respect for you all! I'll be waiting in the antique mall hahaha ❤
Loved the Grizzly Adams and wood bowl the best. So glad you’re back stateside. Went thru Laura withdrawal! Loved the watercolor too.
Thank you so much! Glad to be back!
Thanks for all your tricks & tips! I wish Alaska had the bins!
Jami & Zeb? I love their bins videos as well.
@@SabrinaFox-vh7mq Yes, Jami and Zeb. The first time they came up in my TH-cam feed, I realized I had been in their shop when I was visiting my sister. Their “bins” videos are what really hooked me.
I think I yelled out loud noooo when you put on that blazer it’s amazing what people throw out
Laura!! I’m going to Paris with you and Jesse in May💕💕I can’t wait! I’m so glad you had a great time traveling but I’m happy you’re back. Looking forward to your videos and the next first Friday sale 😊
Ahhh we are so excited totravel with you Amy!!!! 🎉 It’s going to be such an awesome group!! Can’t wait to meet you 😄
I have found a beautiful baccarat angel in perfect condition. I always wondered how it survived the bins. I also look at alot of books and sometimes look inside for an author signed book. Those are very fun to find. I always enjoy shopping at the bins.
I love the bins! Introduced my bff to it & when she visits, we always go😊
As always fun. Looked going with you to the bends.
We’ve missed you. My last trip to the bins I found a pair of solid brass planters with nautical shell handles. Found the exact item sold for $225. And I found two of them 🤩😍
The shell dish is made out of Saint Helens ash. I thrifted a planter pot made out of the ash with the same swirled look. Great video😊
Another fantastic episode! Thank you both. Jesse keeps me in stitches. Welcome back!
I found two rechargeable ginkgo lights and I looked them up. They’re 50 on eBay and 80 on Amazon. So I ordered a charging cord and they are so cool!
Man I can't wait for my next bins trip. I love it, so fun! You two found some cool items :)
Great job! Fun to watch. The turtle with the bird on back should go to Danni The Niche Lady! 😃👍
Oh that mug holder! I don't like words either but that was awesome! And the ornate gold mirror at the airport location! I'm surprised at what great clothes you found!
I have chairs like the ones you showed first. I had them in green, and I still have one of them.
I love the bins! Hi Laura 🌺
Hi Jesse!
That Marion cook book is so expensive! I love her food. I wish I were there with you guys
