  • "That's What Faith Is For (aka That's What Friends Are For" was from the album, "We're Gonna Make It" released on Savoy in 1988. The album was recorded live at Cathedral of Bountiful Blessings COGIC in Memphis, TN.
    Just a note... You'll notice the late O'Landa Draper in the front row behind the organist. Also in the video is Jeffrey White playing bass.

    I was 17 years old when this album was recorded and this song still is the one I attribute to keeping me seeking God more and more...other than His word and the Holy Spirit! Myrna Summers and Timothy Wright were focused on giving God their best...and their best was good enough! Rest On, Rev. Wright!

    I remember living in Memphis and listening to the radio at night FM 107 and 1340 WLOK listening to this music. Wow this brings me back to the pride that Memphis has in it's music heritage. Temple of Deliverance led the way with a "Spirit of Excellence"

    Thank you thegospelfillup1 for posting the 1988 release of "We're Gonna Make It" on Savoy Records. This song has gotten me through many dark times in my life. Faith is soooo important to hold onto. I remember listening to this on the way to church. My best-friend at the time used to play it. I'm so happy that I was able to make a copy of this classic. Now that I have found it online I keep it in heavy rotation, lol. Thank you x infinity and beyond.......

    @SamWiseGingy thats why God doesnt work with reason, he works with faith. either you believe or you dont. God isnt going to force himself on you nor does he have to answer to you to cinfirm his existance. if you ask, God will show you who he is, if not, that wont stop God from being God. we are only mere weak men. God is awesome, powerful, loving, forgiving and long suffering and magnificant, beautiful, wise, anything you need him to be. thats what faith is for.

    Myrna Summers to me was always one of those gospel artists that was never given her due as a singer. That heffa could sing her behind off.

    I remember when this recording came out and there was a big discussion that ensued for years. Should Gospel artists take secular songs and translate them into the church. Bishop Chandler D Owens led the charge. He spoke against it. I loved this album. I still do. But then we had no idea how the 80s would impact the genre.

    THANK GOD FOR TH-cam IN A DAY WHEN SEEMINGLY THE CHURCHES OF TODAY FORGOT THAT GOSPEL MUSIC AS WELL AS SERMONS WAS SUPPOSE TO MINISTER TO THE SOUL AND NOT THE FLESH.
    WELL, THE BIBLE DID SAY THAT IN THE LAST DAYS THERE WOULD BE AA FALLING AWAY. (and it did not say a "great" falling away, that is a mis-quote, look it up)

    I wish I could get this entire cd.. AS IS.. SN: why didn't Timothy give Myrna the louder microphone? She seem like she was singing very hard just to be heard..

    @SamWiseGingy WRONG!!!
    faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things unseen - Hebrews 11:1
    the letters in the word "FAITH" stand for "Finding An Impossiple Trial Hopeful."
    in case your comment was ignorant sarcasm.

  • @721rem
    @721rem 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @SamWiseGingy you believe what you will and let me be about it. thats what going to bible classes are for, to learn in more detail and depth. that's what prayer is for , to receive revelation and discernment. im not going oto keep arguing about it. think about me what you will.

  • @721rem
    @721rem 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @SamWiseGingy that's why God sent his word. the bible said it that settles it for me. there's a scripture in the bible that simply states "Believe the gospel and repent." want the location i can send it to you. i'll admit it, im lazy when it comes to looking up scriptures.
