I was young in grade school and my mother took us to church : She used to play this song and it touched me at young age and I learned God and Jesus are with us always 🙏 ❤ .Please just don't give up . These songs are anointed.

This song is an old time favorite from the early 80’s. I was preparing some breakfast and the recall of this song came to mind because of so much happening. So I TH-cam it and was comforted again with the sound of her voice and the lyrics of the song.

I remember our youth choir singing this and I was about 10 years old. I could always remember the beginning who can I turn to in times of need Lord who can call who will come and see about me? those words always stuck with me. this is something good to bring back. the song has so much soul

No, she was not incarcerated, Jay Williams. This is where she did prison ministry. I can't think of any other artist who actually recorded an entire gospel album in a prison. I was too young to be in that recording but she went back some years later and we had a Holy Ghost hissy fit up there. The inmates were so receptive and even the guards and administration received Christ that day. I'll never forget it.
Being there was an unbelievable experience. Everyone was so receptive, and we forgot we were actually in prison when the Spirit came in
I was thinking the same thing I don't know of any other singer who has ever recorded a full album for inmates..Great job❤

I first heard this song many decades ago performed by The Gospel Soul Children of New Orleans led by the late Pamela Thomas.
This is the song that would wake me up in the morning and have me shouting in the bed before I could get up...Especially part 2 when those Congos would be going...Man, you talkin'bout going in that Power would radiant thru the radio waves and I could feel thee electricity of the Holy Ghost Power totally change the atmosphere. I remember the bass line from way back in the 70's. I've tried for decades thinking on 'Myrna' & the name of this song. I've seen her @ ECU around that time. And she did wonderful.
I wish I can locate the lyrics to " Give Me Something To Hold On To" by, Myrna Summers. it's a beautiful and inspirational song. it's letting me know, when the world around you let's you down; God has given me a foundation to depend on. I must believe that Jesus Christ is there to lift me up and continue to carry me along the way.

This is great!! Does anyone have the lyrics to this song?? Thank you for posting it. My sister sang this at my Mother's funeral on July 19th & it really touched me & everyone else at the Home Going Service. It was so appropriate in the wake of my Mother's passing. We needed comfort. WOW! I immediately went to the internet to see if I could find the original to the song my sister sang so beautifully so I could hear it over & over again. She finally found it Saturday for me & forwarded it to me.

No she wasn't, she ministered to them, because a lot goes on prisons that shouldn't. Ungodly things ! We all need Him. Protect those that are helpless . To turn them into what God did not do it is the devil. LIL NAS SHOWED THAT.
