Octopath Traveler 2 continuing the tradition to have the final boss theme to start from a choir and singing to show an ancient evil is your opponent to a full rock rendition
I was listening to parts of the OST before finishing this game, and unsurprisingly this popped up in related videos and honest to god it made me think Laiman was part of the final boss sequence somehow
Dang, the first Octopath was already a good game. But boy... Octopath 2 was better in every way. The story of each character was so damn good. This whole game is a masterpiece, and the soundtrack is in its own league.
Facts. Lowkey OT2 was the underdog GOTY of last year for me as someone who was really disappointed by how OT1 fell short. It felt surreal to see every problem I had fixed, which sequels rarely achieve (looking at you TotK)
@Charnutboy ot1 left me wanting more, so many sections of the map left unexplored or just small overall, the grindiness of it all, the lack of companionship between the travelers with no tie in with the major plot (kinda), it gave me no reason to fight galdera (which i didnt even know existed) OT2 does a much better in every regard. Graphically, musically, on a story level, both a traveler and overarching plot, the relationship between the travelers feel much stronger and real aided by their reactions in fights (when they break or kill someone or are on the verge of death), actually having the travelers talk to eachother with their voices and having an actual final boss that ties in everything and everyone with no loose ends. The fact that the moonshade villains spell an anti OCTOPATH is enough to make my climax. Vide and the Shadow are much more compelling concepts over Galdera too, the helpnessless the moonshade order feels because of the world wronging them so much is completely relatable and scaringly accurate to how despair makes you feel. Im also glad that Ori was able to stay alive because she had doubts about ending it all, mirroring how just one connection with someone can bring you back from the brink. Partitio as my protag made everything also much more positive, which helps alot since 6 out of 8 stories are incredibly dark and/or depressing. Primrose as my starter was amazing too, but in some weird way, every single ot2 character outclasses her HEAVILY. I have no idea how they were able to outclass primrose in every way (design, character, story, utilty in battle etc)
Started with Osvald and picked up everyone else. By the time I got to this mission everyone on the team was around level 30-ish, including Agnea. With Throné’s help and Alfriec’s blessing, I managed to two turn this fucker.
La'mani is how you write a true dark horse Big Bad. I don't even play OT2. He keeps appearing in my other games and blocking my plats, and once this theme kicks in I can't even be mad.
Vide is the hype spectacle final boss we deserved. “That other guy” is the challenge we wanted (imagine fighting him with all 8 travelers at once tho!)
@@GeorgefloydthesneedsterWe would be disappointed if he wasn’t. As long as there’s no boss rush before him, and you have to do that AND him in one go because not everyone’s gonna two-turn him even WITH the good strats, we’re cool with him being the superboss.
@loftwingheropon2743 unlikely considering the devs have only so many ressources to spare. I think 1 superboss is more than enough, but it would absolutely be cool if what you said came true(though it wont)
I love, love, love this theme for a final boss. And I know plenty of people are making jokes about La'mani being the final boss with this theme. but I'm instead imagining La'mani being the one singing this amazing song.
I remember after the first game came out everyone was saying that Lyblac was singing ‘The One They Call The Witch’ and ‘Daughter of The Dark God’, so upon hearing a male singer during this battle, the glorious image of “Oboro”, robes flowing, martini raised, belting out this song would not leave my head.
This comment hurts me. Like the first game it was the Dark Mother who sang. This time we get a man singing which is obviously Kazan. I fucking love that they did this.
no no you're extremely valid for this because this makes sense, especially considering Team Octopath are able to bring in NPCs to come with them, i figure Dolcinea and La'mani would travel with the others the team hired. and seeing all the shit going on but knowing Agnea and the rest are the only ones who can truly end Vide... This is their Grand performance for them to give them the hype and feeling that they CAN win.
2023 is a rough year because of Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4 Remake, which are (and that's already pretty clear) in the front row for the game awards. Octopath Traveler won't win the award for best RPG because of Hogwarts Legacy. And because many people are biased, they will reflect their dedication for this game on other categories as well. This is, for example, why Final Fantasy 7 Remake won the music award despite the fact it fought against Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Don't get me wrong: FF7 Remake is a super good game. But best soundtrack? I think not.
Assuming it even gets nominated. It will not win regardless who it's up against unless all other nominations are less popular that OT2. If people haven't played the game, and turn-based JRPG is niche, they will just vote for what they know.
It’s satisfying, Temenos is your new best friend, and you don’t need to do a boss rush before this you can’t save after. Legit one of the best final bosses I’ve faced in a while.
Octopath traveler to me was one of the best RPG game I ever played, it brought back so much memories. And now octopath traveler ii.... Just passed the name outstanding. The game is just full of lessons, dark, sorrow, and joy. The writer and developer did their job right to make us live with our heros through all the tragedies and hardship to the point where it felt like it was real and those are real souls trying their best. Partitio you are my man bro. The game which I deeply appreciate the developer and all the team who worked on it. Thank you Square Enix for making this year one of my best year in gaming. channel owner thanks for sharing your tears with us. It was a long journey and really did not want to say goodbye but all story games got an ending at some point. Now please DLC collab with our oldies and some challenge bosses to break.
La'Mani is simply the best character in the game. I brought him with me to the final boss because I wanted him by my side. He actually ended up getting a clutch break with RECITAL À LA'MANI which helped me win lol
Oh my God. Now if there is a compilation of "The Journey for X Ends" (that is, one where each character's snippet except Agnea's is present in sequence), my journey would really be complete
@@grantedaccess8545 Ah, I did not explain myself clearly. I mean only the middle, 7 unique parts is in sequence, while the similar intro and outro is stapled only once at the beginning and end of the sequence. That is, with the timestamp of that soundcloud, 8:31-8:52 for intro, then each unique parts (8:52-9:27 for Ochette, 10:28-11:03 for Castti, and so on until 18:46-19:20 for Hikari), then 19:21-20:02 for the outro. But I guess that is not possible after all. Still, this gives me an idea of how short the music actually is, and is an excellent substitute in the meantime. Thanks for the reference!
If I read this right, then I had the same idea and tried to do it myself but with Agnea's part (Which admittedly sounds weird, but it's something at least).
@@atew8277 This is it! Indeed that's what I meant! Although, too bad the first T is supposed to be Throne instead of Temenos (as shown in the main menu outro), and Agnea's piece is extremely awkward. But all things considered this flows even better than I expected. Thanks kind traveler! My journey ends for now. What tool do you use for this, if I may ask?
I just came to the fight and this theme got me in tears on how good it is. Wow when I got to the second phase its ascends even higher and became hard Rock edging to metal piece. I havent felt like this in a battle theme in a long time. This is utter brilliance. I have been singing in classic music for a long time and starting to doing Solos now and this Piece really makes me want to be part of Square Enix Music so bad. I want to be part of this greatness.
Did someone else noticed that the first letters of the 8 characters who worked together to awaken Vide write Octopath like the main characters ? look : Oboro Claude Trousseau Ori Petrichor Alcanette Tanzy Harvey maybe it was obvious for most people but i find this detail really cool.
Even better: Their order is the exact opposite of the original travelers. Oboro is for Hikari, the first and the last letter of OCTOPATH. Or Harvey is for Osvald, the last and the first letter.
Cult member meeting in hell Devil: so what you here for Arcanette: I spent a long time plotting a master plot to summon a wicked God because I'm a bitch >:) Claude: I made a killing machine through trauma and the awful foster care system Oboro: I was the sacrifice Tanzy: I was also the sacrifice Ori: I three was a sacrifice, but I lived Petrichor: I know my name wasn't mentioned once until the end of the story but I four was a sac- Harvey : I lost to my ex friend with evil book because he has the power of fatherhood Trousseau: wait yall we're relevant to the final plot?
@@Frallicus Trousseau was also relevant. What did you think the purple rain was? A mere poison? Combined with the knowledge from the Book of Night(given to him by Claude), Trousseau made a poison infused with a dark essence that brought about a "dusk" before the dusk, so to speak. A prelude to the main event that would lead to a lot of people dying, despairing or both. Even if many survived it, it would be a harrowing experience that would make people welcome the dusk over the dawn, which is what the Moonshade order wanted. The only final boss not related to the final plot are Dolcinea and Roque.
I find it Interesting how of Vide's summoners thay are evil make up the unique letters in OCTOPATH while the broken ones/victims make up the repeated letters. Arcanette, Claude, Petrichtor and Harvey vs Oboro, Ori, Tanzy and Trousseau
Extremely interesting outlook. Ori and Oboro experienced extreme situations of war that had no end in sight, Tanzy and Trosseau lost someone very important to them for no reason at all. Both very real outcomes in current times... despair has many forms, to Tanzys worship of Arcanette, the abuse of the Darkling, the deceitfulness of Ori and Oboro and the absolute madness of Trosseau
When La'mani used Nocturne of Sang i couldn't believe summoned Dreisang from Octopath Traveler 1 who then cast The Other True Magic and wiped my entire team of 8. Definitely worthy of a final boss
Choosing Agnea as you protagonist is funny because it goes from "I want to become a super star... oh no my sister is lost in the forest" To "Ok guys we have to seal again the embodiment of chaos who got sealed years ago by the 8 gods"
The lord of dark, the archon, ODI- wait wrong final boss But still if you‘ve played both you‘ll notice aLOT of similarities between Octopath 2 and Live A Live, especially in the endgame Wouldn’t surprise me if both Octopaths were heavily inspired by Live A Live
Hikari : Kazan...from what i learned through my own journey. I meet a lot of friends that filled my hearts, passion, Joy, and courage. But theres one thing that i learned through out of this journey. Those who keeps up until the dawn, shall embraces the dawn. But to those who fails, will not keep up with the dawn. Kazan...you’re envy to those who keeps up do you?. You took those trust i gave you so you can push everything...and everyone to the same path of yours. My journey may ends here, but at least would leave it with a good note.
Humorously, the title and thumbnail of this video was my first exposure to Octopath traveler. As such, I spent the entire first game and a good portion of the second convinced that what in reality was La'mani was actually Vide. Seeing other comments though, it seems like I wasn't too far off (at least in fanon territory)
I like how everyone's joking about La'mani being final boss-tier, when I did actually find him pretty tough for the point of the game you fight him at 👀
I fought him right after Bandelam Bandelam had me stuck for well over two hours until I cheesed him with leghold trap, La’mani took one try and barely dealt any meaningful damage
Man, after defeating the hidden Cave of Misfortune (Lv 75) where you find the painting explaining that La'mani sacrificed his dreams for seal the Mad Dog of the Apocalypsis in his early phase of growing... Was a hearth breaking moment, there you realize any character (even NPC) in this game could be a vital piece to assure a new dawn.
When La'mani says "With the light from thyne hearts I shall weave meself a fine cloak of shining greed' I couldn't stop screaming of pure rage and joy while crying non-stop.
Spoiler When you get so pissed off about the fact a country girl asked you to not be such an elitist prick that you decide to join a cult bent on bringing an eternal night, it's time for you to start reconsidering your priorities.
Late to the party, but encountering La'Mani just puts the Sans boss fight of Undertale to shame. There's a small chance that he starts out with a spread-all party attack that brings your party down to 1 HP and inflicts all debuffs and stat reductions for 10 turns and does not allow you to heal, but this does not affect Agnea, for some reason. Man. Vide is shook.

Literally one of the best soundtracks that I've heard in my life
Just got to this boss fight and jesus christ this boss theme is GODLYY
Dang, the first Octopath was already a good game. But boy... Octopath 2 was better in every way. The story of each character was so damn good. This whole game is a masterpiece, and the soundtrack is in its own league.
Facts. Lowkey OT2 was the underdog GOTY of last year for me as someone who was really disappointed by how OT1 fell short. It felt surreal to see every problem I had fixed, which sequels rarely achieve (looking at you TotK)
@Charnutboy ot1 left me wanting more, so many sections of the map left unexplored or just small overall, the grindiness of it all, the lack of companionship between the travelers with no tie in with the major plot (kinda), it gave me no reason to fight galdera (which i didnt even know existed)
OT2 does a much better in every regard.
This super intense music playing over La'Mani made me laugh harder than I should have
That feel when you deny the dawn but it's 6am
La'mani is how you write a true dark horse Big Bad. I don't even play OT2. He keeps appearing in my other games and blocking my plats, and once this theme kicks in I can't even be mad.
Vide is the hype spectacle final boss we deserved. “That other guy” is the challenge we wanted (imagine fighting him with all 8 travelers at once tho!)
Really hope that Galdera is the reoccuring Superboss that gets harder and harder each game
Imagine if Vide and Galdera both become super bosses, and in each game the list of super bosses just gets longer as each final boss gets a rematch.
I think 1 superboss is more than enough, but it would absolutely be cool if what you said came true(though it wont)
was waiting for someone to upload something like this, thank you for doing god's work
02:57 La'mani swearing after stepping on a lego
"The Final Battle Begins..."
@@Engardian That is a much better image, admittedly, like he is singing an anthem for his master.
This comment hurts me. Like the first game it was the Dark Mother who sang. This time we get a man singing which is obviously Kazan. I fucking love that they did this.
He DOES canonically become Agnea’s fan, hyping her up with Dolcinea.
no no you're extremely valid for this because this makes sense, especially considering Team Octopath are able to bring in NPCs to come with them, i figure Dolcinea and La'mani would travel with the others the team hired. and seeing all the shit going on but knowing Agnea and the rest are the only ones who can truly end Vide... This is their Grand performance for them to give them the hype and feeling that they CAN win.
I will be seriously pissed if octopath gets denies best soundtrack again
@Murtor Hogwarts Legacy is mediocre at best, but unfortunately, I expect this to happen just because of its attached IP.
yeah srsly if they use common sense this beats everything and personally hifi rush 2nd.
Crap I just realized isnt breath of the wild 2 supposed to come out this year?
Dude when all 8 characters showed up at once i just about shit my pants.
I need a live version of this
orchestra for octopath 2 wen?
wasnt ready for La'mani phase 2 to kick in
Probably one of the best final boss fights I had in any game...
I spent a solid 3 hours on this fight.
It was so worth it.
It’s satisfying, Temenos is your new best friend, and you don’t need to do a boss rush before this you can’t save after. Legit one of the best final bosses I’ve faced in a while.
@@homuraakemi103fr sealteage's seduction + prayer for plenty and reflective barrier saved my life lmao
@@crowberrii Considering in this game, overclocking your HP isn’t an ability you can equip? Yeah. You will love Temenos.
It gave me flashbacks of God Shattering Star from Fire Emblem 3H, They're both very very good
*crying*
Its just..so peak
At least I will listen to this song for 10 more years
La'Mani is simply the best character in the game. I brought him with me to the final boss because I wanted him by my side. He actually ended up getting a clutch break with RECITAL À LA'MANI which helped me win lol
Oh my God. Now if there is a compilation of "The Journey for X Ends" (that is, one where each character's snippet except Agnea's is present in sequence), my journey would really be complete
soundcloud.com/accessdenied-966001076/in-pursuit-of-everything-the-journey-for-everything-ends-seven-travelers-loop
@@themobius5798 Ah I didn't know about Throne and Temenos, so I made another one where it's swapped and removed Agnea's part.
I used Audacity.
I guess you can try cover this piece, alone or collab with other youtuber
La’mani truly was one of the boss fights of time
6:48 "Press R2 to switch your party!"
1:27 is truly peak. Love this final boss theme
Did someone else noticed that the first letters of the 8 characters who worked together to awaken Vide write Octopath like the main characters ? look :
Oboro
Claude
Trousseau
Ori
Petrichor
Alcanette
Tanzy
Harvey
maybe it was obvious for most people but i find this detail really cool.
Even better: Their order is the exact opposite of the original travelers.
Oboro is for Hikari, the first and the last letter of OCTOPATH. Or Harvey is for Osvald, the last and the first letter.
@@Webter100 Oh yeah you're right ! That's awesome too !
@@Webter100 the first character is Ochette.
The soundtrack has their character themes in order and begins with Ochette, not Osvald.
Cult member meeting in hell
Devil: so what you here for
Arcanette: I spent a long time plotting a master plot to summon a wicked God because I'm a bitch >:)
Claude: I made a killing machine through trauma and the awful foster care system
Oboro: I was the sacrifice
Tanzy: I was also the sacrifice
Ori: I three was a sacrifice, but I lived
Petrichor: I know my name wasn't mentioned once until the end of the story but I four was a sac-
Harvey : I lost to my ex friend with evil book because he has the power of fatherhood
Trousseau: wait yall we're relevant to the final plot?
Arcanette, Claude, Petrichtor and Harvey vs
Oboro, Ori, Tanzy and Trousseau
Choosing Agnea as you protagonist is funny because it goes from
"I want to become a super star... oh no my sister is lost in the forest"
To
"Ok guys we have to seal again the embodiment of chaos who got sealed years ago by the 8 gods"
0:48 Those guys are fighting God!!! 😮
6:48 AND THEY ARE WINNING!!! 😱
The lord of dark, the archon, ODI- wait wrong final boss
But still if you‘ve played both you‘ll notice aLOT of similarities between Octopath 2 and Live A Live, especially in the endgame
Wouldn’t surprise me if both Octopaths were heavily inspired by Live A Live
Octopath Traveler 1 got a special thanks to the devs of Live-a-Live, so it makes a lot of sense.
Hikari: “Damn he has ominous Latin chanting. Only one thing to do. TEMENOS!”
Temenos: “understood!”
Whips out electric guitar and begins to shred!

Easily one of my favorite final bosses out of any game I've played in my lifetime. Not just the music, but the fight itself.
I cant stop listening to this song, specially from minute 6:00, this is so F epic!
I like how everyone's joking about La'mani being final boss-tier, when I did actually find him pretty tough for the point of the game you fight him at 👀
I fought him right after Bandelam
Bandelam had me stuck for well over two hours until I cheesed him with leghold trap, La’mani took one try and barely dealt any meaningful damage
@@CrazyPills-465 i dont really know what you expected considering la'mani has the lowest non chap 1 level requirements
This is easily my game of the year (pc), so good.
Absolutely love how those who hope for the dawn has the final fantasy baseline” at the beginning
This twist was outta nowhere I remember when he yelled "it's videin' time" as he proceeded to vide all over like they didn't have to go so hard
Nishiki-san: "Harder, you say..." **Transitions into phase 2, Break and Boost version**
Me at 6:47: "I got this!"
Me at 6:48: "I don't got this!"
When La'mani says "With the light from thyne hearts I shall weave meself a fine cloak of shining greed' I couldn't stop screaming of pure rage and joy while crying non-stop.
Spoiler
Damn, Arcanette/Mindt was such a massive fakeout, to think L’amani was the Moonshade Order’s leader the whole time

Just beat it and feeling now the void after the completion of a game.
