Comparing those to Octopath Traveler 1 versions, you really can tell they did a serious upgrade to the pursuit of themes.

At first, I thought Rai Mei deserved CC1. But this intro into this action packed song while fighting a thunder spear warrior on the top of a tower, yeah CC2 is perfect.

Truly, in pursuit of sleep

I selected Partitio as my main because I really liked his character design - he showed off positive energy and stylish flair. I didn't regret it one bit - Merchant is a job that can do a little of everything, including that absurdly useful Rest ability (and just like Tressa, passing boosted Sidestep buffs to everyone is wonderfully broken). I didn't even need to hire anyone outside of completing sidequests, he's highly competent on his own. And that positive energy was not misinterpreted at all, coming through via excellent voicework. Guy'll fight for his values, but then turn around and help his opponent back to their feet because that's one of his values as well. His story really does make it feel like the world is becoming better because of him, with his storyline investments paying off in gameplay enhancements. Unlocking a sound test in taverns because he helps the invention of recorded sound flourish was a really neat idea, a way to put it in-universe that isn't at all out of place. Also, he gets four sets of Merchant sprites under the player's control - three of which are exclusive to his opening chapter. Other characters get two or three at most, like Agnea's change of dress.

Dang, the first Octopath was already a good game. But boy... Octopath 2 was better in every way. The story of each character was so damn good. This whole game is a masterpiece, and the soundtrack is in its own league.

Humorously, the title and thumbnail of this video was my first exposure to Octopath traveler. As such, I spent the entire first game and a good portion of the second convinced that what in reality was La'mani was actually Vide. Seeing other comments though, it seems like I wasn't too far off (at least in fanon territory)

What’s cool with OCT1 battle preludes is the simplicity of it that explodes into the transition and fits about anywhere in there. OCT2 expands on the character’s theme and giving it more of the character’s inner theme to transition into battle, which is cool, but sometimes the elements of it can get out of hand. Needless to say, they’re all cool OST to listen to.

Fun fact Galdera is a god typically with male/masculine qualities and their theme contains female opera singing in “Daughter of the dark god” Meanwhile Vide has typically female attributes and their theme contain male rock opera vocals

Man, after defeating the hidden Cave of Misfortune (Lv 75) where you find the painting explaining that La'mani sacrificed his dreams for seal the Mad Dog of the Apocalypsis in his early phase of growing... Was a hearth breaking moment, there you realize any character (even NPC) in this game could be a vital piece to assure a new dawn.

During my first playthrough, I picked Akala. During my second, I picked Mahina. I felt actual, physical pain having to put down Akala.

Partitio 🤝 Sabin Beating the shit out of a train

you know because of the opera vocals for Vide the Wicked, showing the La'mani fight is extremely fitting.

I love the build up in Pursuit of Revenge, the oppressiveness of the drums and the other instruments make everything feel heavy. Then For Revenge starts which changes from oppressive to a kind of desperate urgency, like everything could fall apart at any moment (double if you forgot to heal beforehand). But for me the stand out in For Revenge is the violin (2:02 onward), because I think it fits Osvald perfectly. I wish I could explain it better than that, but I don't have the words to articulate them musically.

I loved Castti. So sweet, caring and nurturing outside of battle. Then a battle starts and she's like MAXIMUM VIOLENCE NO MERCY.

I find it Interesting how of Vide's summoners thay are evil make up the unique letters in OCTOPATH while the broken ones/victims make up the repeated letters. Arcanette, Claude, Petrichtor and Harvey vs Oboro, Ori, Tanzy and Trousseau

I was just in prison for the last 5 years, and I had access to podcasts, I heard this on tvgp's dynamic soundtrack, I grew up on 16 bit rpgs, I knew nothing about this, and I probably listened to this 150 times, it brought me to tears at least half of those, so amazing. I'm out now I HAVE to play this game.
