Chair rental is really good if your popular and book ins. You pay rent and take the rest. I know some making more than a thousand a week and pay 200 rent so they make around 50k a year

Barbers make good money. My friend cut hair. He say he avg 15 heads on a slow day and charge $20 per men cut. Working a five day work week they avg 1400 plus a week. That's great money to support a decent size family with and etc... He said it took him 2 yrs to be make over consistently. He been cutting hair over 10 years now. He got me wanting to do it.... Like any career you have to grind hard your first few years to build your rep but once you on ain't no stopping unless you drop the ball....

If you have a cold, do you usually wear a face mask to cover nose and mouth to stop germs spreading to the client?

You can have a lot of passion but if you open your own salon..then in two or tree days time around your shop wil be at least two new barber shop puting down over the flow your list prices.. Some times look like very bright but the true is no edited. 32 years on the businesses hire.. Remember in some areas the clients will ask you so many private question and you could finish talking like a chines taxi driver for over 10 hs.. Better to study something better an with less competicion.. Cheers

Barbering is a good job but very hard to make it as a barber I have been a barber for 20 years and own a barbershop, I learnt the old fashion way straight into a shop and learned the trade this way and did a nvq course just to get the paperwork, I’m going to be honest these courses will not get you shop ready when u graduate I have seen qualified barbers who give up on the first hurdle very disappointing to see after they spent £4k plus they don’t even pass the trial stage ???

Why are they unable to handle it, is it just too fast-paced for their skill level at that point?

@@jaieighty6812 what I’m seeing the main pattern is they know the steps but unable to combine from start to finish and very in practical for example 2 back and sides instead of using there clipper skills to de bulk and blend into the top and then scissor over comb they spend far to long doing scissors over comb from the beginning pointless at the point in there career I showed a trainee a haircut from start to finish in less than 20 minutes and guess what they used the same method and easier and it was for free

Skin fades should also be avoided they need to master basic short back and sides first before even looking to attempt a skin fade I find these courses a ticking box exercise form a course perspective but this doesn’t help the student

@@jaieighty6812 just replying to your first message it’s more the shop owners begrudgingly not happy to polish up there skills to get them to shop floor standards why should we do all this for free while an academy has just had there pockets lined up to £4k minimum don’t get the logic behind this so shop owners would rather let them go else where

I’m 14 and cut all of my friends hair and make £350-450 a week and and that’s because there are a lot of bad barbers in my area but i learned through TH-cam I have increased my clientele a lot since I have gotten a lot of recognition from my friends and I cut 3-5 a day every day
