DIY Oil Change for your Land Rover LR4

- There has been debate online about "DIY" oil changes for the LR4. This video shows that it the easiest oil change that I have ever done on any vehicle I've owned. It does require some special tools but you can buy the tools and consumables (oil and filter) for less than what the dealer charges for this service....and then you are only paying for the consumables on any subsequent change.
1) 9 quarts of Castrol SLX 5w-20.
2) Jaguar/Land Rover Oil Filter, Part #W0133-1891127.
3) Oil Filter Wrench - "90mm, 15 flute" oil filter wrench
4) Oil Extractor (pneumatic or manual)

You said in the video there is no drain plug on the bottom of the engine. There is a drain plug, it is just not necessary to use in the procedure you demonstrated.
Correct, there is a plug, but you need to remove the lower cover/skid plate to access it.

Did you ever think about cleaning the dirt off of the funnel before pouring clean oil in it? You should also put some oil on the o rings
I've had a LR3, and that was a great vehicle.
Now, I'm looking for a LR4, and seeing your miles has given me more confidence against the naysayers!
This was a really great video, well narrated and clearly shows what to do.
How has the LR4 been holding up?
Are you sure it has no drain plug under the skid plates? I'm sure they do. At least in the UK and Europe, so I don't think the US will be any different. 14mm Drain plug.

I had a LR3, many years ago, had to sell it as I moved to Taiwan with my wife, but coming back to the UK, I'm getting itchy feet 🙂
Oil can be removed under engine...remove the plate under engine that protects the sump....and there it is...no need to suck it out

What kind of rubber tubing did you add? Was it a special part?
How do you reset/turn off the 'oil change light' on the dash once you complete the oil change?
Not completely sure. There are videos showing a procedure you can do that might work depending on the year of your LR4
