  • We LOVED this movie! 😍
It was so interesting to watch a representation of how the mind works and tries to be happy all the time 🙃 it's a great lesson for kids as well as for adults 😌 We loved the ending and that a memory can be happy and sad or a mix of other emotions 😊
We felt so identified with a lot of things and cried a lot a few times. Bing Bong we'll never forget you 😭
We hope you enjoy the reaction, thank you so much for watching, have a good one, love you! 💝

When I was about ten my auntie told me that I used to have an imaginary friend named George. I didn't remember him by that time but I can only hope he went out in a blaze of glory like Bing Bong did.

Ohh that's so sad 😢 At least you remember about it now even you still don't remember George. Memory is such an interesting thing.

Another thing that's interesting... when the mom thanks Riley for being their happy girl... she didn't realize the negative influence that toxic positivity was creating.
    It's hard being a parent!

Totally, Riley was constantly trying to push sadness away instead of feeling what she was supposed to, and that was reinforced by her parents with comments like that. No wonder Sadness has such a breakdown.

The broccoli pizza is an inside joke (an Inside Out joke?) about Cheese Board Pizza Collective in Berkeley. It's not far from Pixar headquarters in Emeryville, CA. The Cheese Board serves one type of vegetarian pizza every day. It changes from day to day, but there's only one type available on any day. A lot of Pixar movies feature landmarks near their HQ.
I remember thinking when I saw Inside Out the first time, when the mom asked Riley to be happy for the sake of the dad, that it was not a good thing to do to a kid. A child should not be responsible for the emotional well-being of a parent. It discouraged Riley from expressing her sadness, or even from feeling it. Later, the dad compounded the problem by asking Riley, "Where's my happy girl?"
I will say, though, that the parents were not bad people. They made some mistakes, but it's impossible to raise a child without making mistakes. They always wanted to do the right thing.
The emotions inside the adults' heads were more in tune with each other, more cooperative, and less reactive than the ones in Riley's head. This is an accurate depiction of how things usually are for kids vs. adults.
DEFCON = "Defense Readiness Condition" The U.S. military has a set of alertness levels for outside threats. It goes from DEFCON 5 (a normal state of alertness) to DEFCON 1 (nuclear war).
I agree that this is a good movie to help kids understand their emotions. There are even some adults who could learn something from it.
One thing that people sometimes miss is that it's important for Riley not just to feel sadness, but to express it. When she breaks down and cries in front of her parents, they can finally see how unhappy she's been. The natural empathy they feel and express for her in that moment helps her heal, and reestablishes and strengthens their bonds.

Ohhh the broccoli makes more sense now haha 🥦
Hopefully this movie though parents about the healthy parts of sadness 😌
And there was no way we would have understood the DEFCON reference, we're from Argentina. Thank you so much ❤️

My feeling is the problem started 10:40 when her mom asked her to continue being "our happy girl" to help the family. Riley repressed her natural sadness at leaving her old home. This created a depression which eventually made her unable to feel any emotions (indicated metaphorically by the control board turning grey. She wasn't able to recover until she experienced the sadness she was repressing

      @NerdishReact  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Totally agree! Her mom didn't do it with a bad intention, but it still contributed to Riley's breakdown.

We think it would be nice if we could follow Riley's life develop in the following movies. It would be a nice story to follow 😁

There is a video game, called Finding Paradise. Based on this reaction I think you would like it. But if you decide to play it, I would recommend playing A Bird Story first. Both were created by Kan Gao.

I was wondering the same thing. Why could the other emotions touch the Core Memories without them changing but when sadness touched them they changed. 😊 Great reaction ladies. I was thinking, you said that you guys have seen Part 1 of Avatar already, so I have an alternate movie request. If you haven’t seen it already, “The Green Mile” starring Tom Hanks & Michael Clarke Duncan. If you can, I know that you guys already have a line up of movies/TV shows scheduled to watch so I understand if you can’t. 😊

We've had some time to think about that particular thing about the emotions touching the memories now and it seems to us that it's because the others were not being repressed. Joy kept them around because she could see the use in them, but not in sadness. She explained that in the beginning. So there was an imbalance in Riley's emotions, and there was a lot of sadness that she needed to feel that wasn't being felt. That imbalance was kind of in control before the move, but with that huge change in Riley's life, it generated all the issues we see there. That's why sadness was feeling like she was having a breakdown and couldn't help but to touch the memories. It was necessary for Riley to be sad to move on, and that's the lesson of the whole movie, right? This movie has a beautiful way to show it.
We're still planning on reacting to Avatar part 2 ☺️ We've seen the Green Mile before, it's and amazing movie.
Thank you so much for the support! Much love 💕🥰
