    In the South, specifically the south eastern portion of the United States, we eat the gravy ON our biscuits. Biscuits are a staple at Southern tables, as is sausage gravy, though both are made with flour and are extremely carb heavy. This recipe looks like a good alternative!

      I've also noticed most Southerners tear up the biscuit, & then ladle on the gravy=) Growing up in the Northwest, we just split & buttered them, then pour on the gravy. It's interesting how it varies like that, w/main point being we Americans love our biscuits & gravy!💓

      @@leshenderson5746 Yes~ that's right =) My husband grew up in the Phoenix area, which is where we moved back to when he retired 10 yrs ago. We're in Nevada now, but we go between AZ/NV/NM regularly, now that we're full-time in the RV. Shall I assume cast iron dutch oven? One of my all-time favorite cooking methods~ in a kitchen, or over a campfire.=)

    Every two months or so I make gravy with breakfast sausage. In the US it is generally seasoned with salt, pepper, ground dried fennel and ground dried sage. Then I serve it over a hamburger patty or over scrambled eggs served in a bowl. It's a nice dish to alleviate food boredom. Adding cream cheese to the gravy provides a velvety smooth texture and rich taste.

    I reduce heavy cream with cooked, crumbled sausage in it. Works very well! Plus ive used chicken keto chow, its tasty as well

    I'm in the southern US. Biscuits & gravy was a staple when I was growing up. Traditionally you would want your biscuit thicken then split it apart (like a hamburger bun). The inside texture is softer and absorbs the gravey better than the crusty outer surface. So you would split the biscuit open and put gravy on both open sides. Yum! Sausage gravy is my favorite!

    Biscuits and gravy are a very Southern tradition in my life. My grandmother made biscuits every morning for breakfast. Hers were large, what we called angel biscuits. They went with eggs, gravy and sometimes blackberries that had been cooked down into a sauce and poured over the biscuits. I am glad to see this video that you had of Courtney's biscuits. I haven't seen her before, so I need to go take a look at her videos.

    Another favorite is sausage biscuits. You cook up sausage, crumble it up, and bake it in your biscuit batter. They make great traveling snacks.

    I have successfully made my own chicken flour. It was easy. I sliced chicken breast as thin as possible the put them on a rack and baked them in the over on low heat (about 180*) until they felt light and then set them out to cool and dry a little bit more. Then put them in a food processor. I made some rolls last night, but they didn't turn out well. I am making "breakfast" for dinner tonight and going to try to use it to make pancakes or chaffles.

      And they were the best Chaffles I have had since going Keto. 2 Tbsp Butter, 2 Eggs, 3 Tbsp Chicken flour, then added some shredded cheddar.

      And for anyone who wants to know, I found a better way to make chicken flour. I ground up the raw chicken in the food processor. Spread that out on parchment paper and baked it low. Stir it up once in a while until it dries. Then put it back in the food processor again.

    Oh yum! Now I'm hungry for biscuits and gravy! 😋 Some restaurants in the US make breakfast "bowls". Several different types of breakfast foods are layered in a bowl and topped with sausage gravy. I like to put down a biscuit, lay a soft yolk fried egg on top of the biscuit, then top it all off with the sausage gravy. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!

    Sausage gravy and biscuits were a staple in our house. My ancestors were from the south and many of their recipes were handed down to my mother. My parents still eat it to this day and they are in their 80's. I learned how to make it and I sure miss it being on ketovore-ish. Thank you for making gravy and biscuits possible again! (We eat it by splitting the biscuit in half and smothering it with sausage gravy. I also put a pat of butter on top. It just knocks it out of the park!)

    I like to take a half a cup of kefir and a half a cup of whole whipping cream. Shake it up. Shake a shake it. You can add some salt and seasoning to it if you want. But this is the answer to my carnivore need and want for biscuits and gravy. I don't do the biscuits though. I just scrambled my eggs and eat them with a runny egg on top. I just love the flavor of the gravy. You have to allow your meat to brown. Sometimes some of you don't let that reaction really happen. Let it happen. That's the goodness of the gravy. Cheers

    I make my gravy with browned sausage then use whipping cream and thicken with xanthan gum I bet cream cheese would be good in it too, have to try it.

    Our family has biscuits and gravy every Christmas morning. Of course they are flour biscuits and nice and fluffy. We split open the biscuits and spoon the gravy on top...Delicious and not at all low carb. LOL!

    Can't wait to give this a try, if it comes even close to traditional southern biscuits and gravy, I will be a very happy camper. Traditional southern biscuits and gravy are usually served by pulling a biscuit in half so the soft bread is exposed and then smothered in gravy (basically covering the entire plate) so the biscuit soaks up all that scrumptious gravy. Really excited about this one! 😋

    My mom made cat head biscuits. They where called that because they were as big as a tom cats head.😄 They were so soft. God gave her beautiful biscuit making hands. When she worked as a breakfast cook people would line up for her biscuits. Plain (drowning in butter☺), with sausage or tomato gravy. I guess it's a good thing that I could never accomplish her perfection. If I had I would be as big as a house!

    Oh my goodness! Pure deliciousness! I’m a full blood southerner. Biscuit’s and gravy were a staple during the depression.
    That’s all some folks had to eat. My grandma made the best biscuits and gravy ever. It was a poor mans food.

    Corn flavor is optional; 99% of the time gravy is over regular biscuits. Even better is some chicken fried steak with the gravy over top and more biscuits on the side 😋
    PS: Even McDonald's served biscuits and gravy for a while.

    This looks so fun! Traditional buiscuits and gravy is one of those heavy breakfasts that puts you right back to sleep after you eat. In the words of comedian Jim Gaffigan, "The [American] South will never rise again because they have no energy." 😂 I love how easy it is to make a carnivore sausage gravy, though I haven't tried buiscits to go with it.
    Have you ever filmed a fridge/freezer/pantry tour? I checked your channel briefly but didn't see anything. I know you're always experimenting with recipes, but it would be interesting to see what staples you keep on hand.

      I am not dogmatic, if I crave a pickle I eat a pickle. I won't rule out making a dessert with something like keto chow for a special occasion. By the way, they have the new Core keto chow which I sampled at Keto Con and it was quite good. Made with beef protein and one is even unsweetened. I might do some experiments with that one.

    Great video Anita. I must say that I am less familiar with the concept of biscuits and gravy, but hey why not! UK folks love gravy! Some are so obsessed with it that they will pour it over all sorts of stuff, including pizza and pasta... Your keto version of the ingredients looked great.

    You can make your own meat flour. Just cook your meat very very very dry then run it in the food processer. then dry it more and food processer more until you get flour consistency.

    I was raised on milk gravy. I make it once in a while with bacon and eggs. It's not super low carb but it is a once in a while treat.😊

    I have eaten biscuits & gravy my whole life! We sometimes used sour cream rather than the cream cheese you used for a depth of flavor-
    Also had “Country Benedict” biscuit topped with a sausage Patty & egg cooked to order then smothered with cream gravy! In case you want to experiment with some variations!

    I keep missing when you add the meat flour and cream cheese. All I ever see is you melt butter into the meat first, then put heavy cream in. Next you let it simmer while you check on biscuits and then you are plating it. When do you add the cream cheese and flour to the gravy? It looks so good!
