To me, the biggest headache on stand alone initially was setting up trigger configs. Especially custom deals. Once that is done stand alone is nice. Especially if you have wide band with feedback. 2500 elite with can wide band and Holley dominator. Savage units imo.
I bought aem infinity because there no flash and tunner for hyundai tiburon. I custom made turbo kit I couldn't tune it right with AEM fic (piggyback) and no tuning shop would tune piggyback.
If I’m buying an engine without an ecu but building it later on is it worth buying the stand alone ecu before the orginal or wait till 1000hp to buy the stand alone? Not making a drag car here just street.
(In California) it possible to buy a standalone ecu with the sole purpose of performance gain and switching to the factory ecu for smog ? Appreciate it, got an 05 silverado
I have an 04 rx8 with pcm error codes. the dealership would like 2200 for a new unit. in this situation would I better off dollar wise to go standalone? I do plan on moding it over the next few years.
I have a jeep pushing 350hp and am wanting to break that 400 mark. I am deeply considering running a stand alone. What is the difference between a Standalone computer, and an FIC6 piggyback system?
So all this classes are just for gm and fords? I wish you guys help me to understand better and start to learn how to tune myself my honda del sol if i can start tune with the factory ecu or obligated i have to go to a aftermarket hondata s300 for a b16a2 with some mods ? Bcuz where i live isn’t almost people tuning like i want , every great tuners are far away
Yes, GM, Ford, and Dodge. We tend to focus on the American brand vehicles for the class. We'll soon be working on lessons on international brands #StayTuned
I would like to recode an ECU to completely code out anything related to the automatic transmission, or if not possible, change some parameters in the ECU to make it think that the autobox is always in park, do I need a standalone ECU for that? I would like to avoid sketchy solutions with cables.
Hej, i am thinking about tuning a Audi A4 1.8t Quattro, to 350-400 horsepower. Would it be beneficial to use a mega squirt or other standalone Ecu’s for this goal?
Hi great video! I am thinking of turbocharging/supercharging my stock internal bmw e36 318is (m44) for low boost (0.5bar) can i use the stock ECU and succeed great linearity of the engine, fuel consumption and after install an LPG system?? (i think lpg systems comes with parallel ecu) Thanks a lot!
I’m adding a turbo to my non-turbo civic 2017 2.0 and I get how to set it up just don’t know if I need a stand alone Ecu or can I just buy hondata to help me because I’m just expecting to go up to 250hp total
im doing a stage 4 cam L33 with heads. I'm new to electronics. do I need this computer and another one? ECM? ECU? EFI? stand alone fuel management ? is there one computer that does everything? are any of them self learning? or do I need a dyno and tune? help please!!! thanks!!!
I would speak to your closest professional tuner for that one. They'll might just be able to flash the stock, you will need a professional tuner anyways.
Don't bother doing turbo upgrade, those stock high pressure turbos are plenty, especially after tuning...do more internals and bulletproofing for reliability...oh and injectors
Did you end up choosing a aftermarket or stay stock I have the Volvo S70 glt 2.4 with a failing ECU and thinking about aftermarket just for best performance with stock until I get time to build it
You'd have to ask the standalone manufacture, since this is not something we have any direct experience with doing. If retaining the emission of the engine is necessary, it is likely you will have a to use a factory ECU.
Typically on big companies they'll have information on that right at their website for each product. Most won't even sell to you if you're in a state with those special emissions laws.
I'm building turbo 95' lexus sc400....everybody told me that I need a stand alone or puggieback otherwise I'll blow up my engine, while the guy made 1400 hp on a stock ecu???? So do I need it otherwise I'll blow up in no time or I need one no matter what ? I heard that stock ECU dont hold boost like 0.00 p

Aha. Your input is appreciated. Thanks!
Holley EFI hands down. I went from HP tuners to a Holly and it's a night and day difference the Holley EFI is like a Fisher Price of tuning

Can you please make a video on piggyback ecu
Good way nfo you all should do vid of a tune on after market ecu to show table differences
We'll take that into consideration! Thanks for watching.

I want to buy a 1931 Ford model A. If I want to modernize the car do I go with a Ford ecm or do I go with a stand alone?
Few days ago most people talk about Holley terminator X, if give a preview regard it.

Simple, yes stand alone is where it's at.
You got that right!

So if I just swap my factory ECU for an aftermarket one would I get 500+HP?

It's hard to tell without knowing your car. We recommend visiting a local shop that way they can take a closer look (or give us a call)!
Making 15-20 extra hp using itb+standalone ecu in a stock engine , are we going to have emissions problems??? The car is a 2001 mx5 1.6
Why do you never mention self learning tuners?? and do you think that they work??
So could i use one of these to convert a tbi car to multiport injection?

Im planning to put l67 in 1978 elcamino im not shere if i should go after market ecu or factory any advice
What kind of aftermarket ecu should I get for a camry 19 se 4 cylinder?
So if I go from NA to Forced Induction of some kind I should switch to standalone?
I want to build my engine to 400hp. Its a volvo s70 t5 with the high pressure flatback turbo. Im gonna get a garrett should i use a stand alone ecu?
Awesome! Yes.

Will any stand alone ecu's support emissions for swaps in states that require retaining emmisions to reflect the vehicle the swap engine came out of?

Just dirty smog it

If i want to na-T my subaru, do i need to change my ecu?
Subaru impreza 2.5l

Good stuff.
Why, thank you
Or a Engine Swap for a different Engine
I run a Haltech on my Moped
Really? Niice.
