Coronavirus 2020! Came here in Sept, 2019 for my Masters but now with this pandemic and the Sheff Uni being shut, I am just trying to enjoy my time in this very peaceful place. I have not lived in many places/cities but I bet this is one of those places where a person would want to live for a long time. I have still not been to London and I am not a fan of a big city rather I prefer a small town's calmness. I am from Varanasi, a big town, rather a city. A place which has the calmness where a person would want to get settled. Places like Mussoorie, Sheffield. They take your heart away.
WOW! Out of the English cities I have seen, this looks like one or the nicest. Seems spacious, clean, green, original and contemporary looking landscapes, river, fountains, and not iver crowded with stressed pedestrians. Surprised. Will visit! :)
Wow fantastic video. I lived in Sheffield from in the last 70's. Amazing to see old familiar places but so clean and modernized. Beautiful juxtaposition of old and new. Sure do miss the legions of my beloved cream and blue double decker buses filling the streets!
It reminds me of Hong Kong anyone agree? The reason I say this is because it's city centre is compact and built on a hill. With its staircases everywhere it shows a striking resemblance to Hong Kong.Sadly I havent explored both cities as much as I would like.
i keep saying this. I left Sheffield with my parents about 70 years ago and have missed it ever since. I visit very occasionally and it keeps improving. Miss the old double Decker trams though, and of course, all the terrific boys and girls I used to know. .
This great city ain't half changed! I lived there in the days of the Eggbox, the Wedding Cake, Studios 123 and 567, The Limit, Steelys, The Wap etc. Hate to see Attercliffe the way it is now, I liked it all industrial as it should be. The university is gradually taking over everything and is encroaching the Fat Cat area now... Still a fantastic city though, with some great memories!
Will Sterben Yes, Sheffield has changed hugely, but I have to say that from the decline of the city centre, when much of it seemed to be going to rack and ruin with the opening of Meadowhell, that it has made a sound recovery. The public art gives the city a really vibrant feel. The urban regeneration taking place is an inevitability of the value of land in those areas. I was down Kelham Island a few months ago, and it is certainly mid-transition. The tram has been a massive success and opened up new avenues in terms of expansion of the city centre. I used to go to the Limit too - until I got mugged for my train fare home outside there :( Long walk back to Barnsley it was!!!
dear mate we had hoped to visit in 08 for day from hawes spend night and return west through forest of bowland maybe spend night at kirkby lonsdale but fllood we had intended to visit thr arboretum and town centre but saw on itv not to go down there looks like a great place to visit slides here a good ol boy from old bramley around 1980 video really different than the old slides

I admire Sheffield's diαlect, especially the antique pronoun "tha","thee" & of course it's nice people. Definitely, one of the most beautiful English cities.
Unrecognisable. Bland. Could be anywhere nowadays. Most def not the city in which I grew up and lived until 1978. It was grim, cold, no jobs, filthy and mostly in black and white but the city had what it is clearly missing today... Character and Identity.
Thank you for your recollection of Sheffield way back when. I look at this video and wonder who would want to leave it. I wonder is there a video on youtube that accurately portrays the Sheffield you recall.
Hallo, your video is about six years old now, maybe you did improve your technique in the meantime. Yet I would like to comment on basic video "rules". It is not totally forbidden, to move the camera, but it should really remain an exception. The movement in the video must happen in the motive. Do not produce it by moving the camera. You permanently zoom or pan or both at the same time. I stopped watching after 10 minutes an I remember one single scene, where the camera was immobile and the tram came around the bend and passed. Nice clip (Funnily this is one of the very few situations, where it is a good idea, to pan and follow the moving object). Whenever possible, use a tripod (nobody said, making videos is easy ;-) ).
I love the city of ..Sheffield ... I am an Indian but this city and Hallam university is truly a gem... I miss the city of Sheffield.
Shahid Afridi used to live in Sheffield...You are right bro Sheffield is one of the best city in England but very underrated..
