It's funny how one year ago everyone was saying that you should distribute your protein intake evenly by citing the Yasuda study from 2020. Now everyone seems to have completely forgotten about that study since Trommellen et al showed that "100 g protein results in a greater and more prolonged anabolic response when compared to the ingestion of 25 g protein".

If ahwaganda reduces stress and high stress reduces testosterone levels, wouldn't it make sense that ashwaganda could boost testosterone for people that are experiencing high levels of stress (like dads with little kids :))
As a dad with a little kid, ashwagandha really has helped the last year or so. 4hrs of sleep in the initial stage and i could still function at work and see strength increases.
The best testosterone booster you could probably get is a tin of cooked oysters and mussels from the grocery store. Protein, fat, cholesterol and minerals; including zinc and iron. If you’re near the ocean, eat lots of scallops
Still a fact that boosting your test inside the normal range does close to nothing for your fitness goals, as long as you already were inside a healthy range. Yeah you might a tiny bit feel better, but it's not as if you are on low dose gear now. That is something health gurus like Huberman don't tell you when they plug their products.
Technically, lengthened partials also do close to nothing for fitness goals. It's an increase of what, 5 to 10 percent? 5% more muscle gain is not noticeable. But it's still worth talking about, and still better than not getting it. Who's to say a 5 to 1p percent increase in test isn't the same?
@@DILFDylFoutcome data on testosterone increases would say those 5-10% increases have no influence on strength, body composition, and similar, whereas lengthened partials increasing muscle gain by this 5% is an outcome. No one wants higher testosterone for the sake of higher testosterone, and there are such a mass of mechanisms which occur to produce and make use of testosterone and other hormones where small changes do not appear to be significant. Do these supplements work atop increases in sleep quality or caloric surpluses? Do these supplements work long term, with other supplements, and in ways which do not reduce the body otherwise producing the same outcome? Is this measure enough to see a significant outcome of what we are trying to influence? It is interesting and needs more research, cause if you could get 5-10% more from five or six supplements long term with no side effects and this meant a lot of small benefits... amazing. However, just being 5-10% increases, and this is a "maybe", isn't worth the potential distraction.
Are you saying that you didn't know that before you clicked on the video? Come on. The video is edutainment, basically. You watch it both to hear his viewpoint, AND for the information.
No solid evidence it decreases stress, just prelims far below the threshold of evidence like the massive double blinded RCTs that medicine is subject to.
If you're dealing with anxiety and because of ashwaganda you end up sleeping better and resting more profoundly, it could definitely act as an indirect testosterone boost. I'd say it's something that should be tried individually as stress is such a personal thing.
Really irresponsible advice on ashwaghanda here especially given how meh the anxiolytic effects are compared to both the bevy of interactions it has with other medicines and the lack of any kind of massive longterm RCTs documenting side effects. The quality of SBS content really is showing signs of going downhill.
ashwaghanda can interfere with meds used for solid organ transplants. example was a kidney transplant loss after just 1 to 2 week of taking ashwaghanda .
It's probably one of the most researched herbs out there, maybe only second to ginseng, and actually seems to have more consistent effects compared to ginseng. And if you're trying to combine herbs while already taking pharmaceuticals then you have a totally different critical thinking problem that those won't solve. And you'd be hard pressed to find any studies longer than 16 weeks in humans for most herbs, but plenty of reports online of people taking something for at least a year.
Maybe, just maybe the real testosterone boost is the friends we made along the way

An endorsement by Huberman is every bit as compelling as an endorsement by Dr Oz.
Huberman is to misogynistic fitness dudes what Oz is to overweight middle aged women.
Or Dr Seuss
Just wait until he starts advocating for the edges of the grocery store.

thanks, this channel seems loving to use the clickbait title compare to the other science based channel.

A hero you are 👍🏽

i took ashwaganda and got 3 girlfriends immediately
Same but I had 18 prior to Ashwagandha. :(
I thought it was supposed to decrease, not increase stress
1) Good sleep. 2) Staying hydrated. 3) Staying active. 4) Avocados as a part of this complete breakfast.
If ahwaganda reduces stress and high stress reduces testosterone levels, wouldn't it make sense that ashwaganda could boost testosterone for people that are experiencing high levels of stress (like dads with little kids :))
If it helps with stress relief, making sleep better, and aids recovery, it would be a good thing
Herbal supplements are not worth it.
Following the logic to its natural conclusion, removing the little kids from the equation would help with testosterone even more. ;)
As a dad with a little kid, ashwagandha really has helped the last year or so. 4hrs of sleep in the initial stage and i could still function at work and see strength increases.
Yes, that's literally what it does, which is why it can't create results that are above normal, it just reduces the damage from stress.
The best testosterone booster you could probably get is a tin of cooked oysters and mussels from the grocery store. Protein, fat, cholesterol and minerals; including zinc and iron. If you’re near the ocean, eat lots of scallops
Don't forget all the lead.
Nutrition plays a permissive role in testosterone production and there are loads of other sources for those nutrients

Can ashwagandha cause dizzy spells?
What about Tribulus terrestris? You guys never address this.
What about Turkesterone? It's so popular right now which begs the question on why you didn't mention it.
We already known that turkesterone doesn't increase testosterone. It's not even marketed that way. They say it binds with the estrogen receptor beta.
That click bait was low
Great info
I worry about heavy metals in both ashwagandha and, to a lesser extent, tongkat ali

But could aswaganda increase testosterone because it decreases stress?
Interesting theory.
No solid evidence it decreases stress, just prelims far below the threshold of evidence like the massive double blinded RCTs that medicine is subject to.
what you re saying is more like...'uncovering' your testosterone from a 'layer' of stress if that makes sense
@aisac21 yeah but it's just a theory

If you are balding and growing thick beard you have high testosterone (DHT)
Not necessarily, it might be a sign of higher sensitivity to androgens
Unfortunately I am bald and low free testosterone !
If you are balding and growing a thick beard, you also suffer from having a weak chin.
Balding is also a symptom of low testosterone.
