Fates may have been controversial but I love how Engage brings from Fates the shared crit quotes with the retainers, it’s super adorable that they do that
Whenever I hear the line "I will protect everyone" my mind just goes to Seliph saying that in Feh, his voice work really stuck with me
The first time I heard the critical quote "I will protect everyone" was when I was watching a gameplay video of Ascended Celica.
His voice is amazing. Wish his VA got more roles he's amazing

considering they're both dragons and corrin is possibly the best ring for Alear due to the insane utility of having the complete dragon vein menu available for free every turn, it might be intentional.

@@AshenDust_ a single damage spike isn't really that valuable considering they made boss characters impossible to one-shot as it can only destroy one hp bar max and there are several other damage spike emblems in the game.
Plus any character can run that combo wheras only Corrin and the single other dragon-type character can utilize Corrin's full menu options.
@@Highstar25 Lucina isn’t really about the damage, although being able to be able to guarantee a one-round on any health bar no matter how much defense the boss has has with enough allies nearby is useful. Dragons are the only ones who can reliably protect everyone. 80% to 90% doesn’t seem like a big difference, but it means you’ll only be hit half as much. Alear also has supports with everyone, so they are the only one that can use Dual Support to it’s full potential. Corrin is also a really good emblem for many units. A mage with Thoron can lock down and debuff enemies from a range and set fires to stop enemies in their tracks, which is basically what Alear would be doing but better. Fire is just by far the most useful terrain.
@@AshenDust_ bruh, fog carries in maddening. There are other ways to stop or alter enemy movement like staves, but no other ways to produce portable cover on the MANY maps in the game that normally have no terrain features to exploit in any of the important chokepoints or boss aggro ranges. It's also incredibly good for manipulating the AI on Alear, since the AI in maddening will ignore units that they have a 0% chance to hit (like a covert unit in fog) but will still go for ones that they have a very low chance to hit.
Nevermind that on Alear you get both to mix and match with as you please... as well as several other situational abilities like the wide range water to shut down cavalry or the def/res boost that can help non-evasion tanks survive some clutch chokepoints.
Dual support is nice to have when it procs but honestly not that great, which is part of the reason why the classes that have it have fallen to mid tier.

I find it really funny that we hear Alears post combat quotes throughout the entire game, and then when we unlock Engage+ we get to hear our allies say them.
Ivy saying "I'm guided by the emblems" the first time I did it really confused me!

Elusia is not family enough to have this kind of quote, I think at least for Ivy. She has an aloof and foreign blader that's probably isekaied from Fates and you have a former assassin turn novelty collector and self-proclaimed art enthusiast

Elusia being the only nation where retainers don’t share a crit quote with their royal is odd to me
I think it's because, in Ivy's case, she has a strictly business relationship with her retainers. In Hortensia's case, I think it's because they aren't OFFICIALLY her retainers. Like, people refer to them as her retainers but they never made it official.
I'm sure someone's already made this joke but Fogado, who I always read as FROGado when I just glance at his name, and his retainers are just a three man party bro squad. BROgado and the merry bros. Fogado, the main bro, Burnet the chef bro, and Pandreo the bro who gets the drinks.

No, they don't. Alcryst says it as a crit quote, but I think you have mistaken it for one of Diamant's victory quotes.
@@AkemiHikari you're right, I somehow conflated it with Diamant's "A battle fit for Brodia" victory quote
It didn't even occur to me until just now that one could land a crit, then use the time crystal to reverse time and hear different crit quotes. That must've made it easier to record than having to land multiple crits and hope for the best each time.
Edit: Forgot to mention, Fogado and Timera seem to have a shared crit animation as well, or at least similar ones. Timera has one where she'll spin around on her spear to kick the enemy before delivering the final attack, and Fogado does the same except he spins around the neck of his horse. How? Don't ask me, it's awesome though. Those two crit animations just happen to be fresh in my memory right now, so I don't know if others also have shared elements.

Ivy and her retainers not sharing Crit Quotes makes sense since she never really liked them. And Hortensia not sharing Crit Quotes with hers is because Rosado and Goldmary aren't her retainers yet officially.

Is this every shared quote? In past games every Royal had a shared quote with their retainers is it not true for elusia?
Indeed, the Elusian royals do not. Ivy’s group is not exactly a cohesive unit, none of them exactly like each other before their supports. Hortensia’s group are not her official retainers, they haven’t been approved by Hyacinth yet, they’re just her friends and classmates.
@@ltranc knew that ivys group was disjointed but didn’t know Hortencia’s retainers weren’t official. They’re referred to as her retainers in there recuitment chapter is it a support where that’s explained?
