Well, Fogado's Cupid is imo clear winner here - Nomad Trooper animations made even more badass in 3d with such care are just too good! As for second, i would put wyvern knight as each weapon they use feels like it references a different game (axes for example the radiant animations)! And third, Ivy's Mid Air Casting because i am biased lol
For the uniques, the Brodia boys' T2 does good. The Firenese and Solmic siblings' T2 are also good. Big shoutout to Timerra's gymnastics with the lance, knew there was potential when I first saw her. For the generics, throwing weapons got a huge upgrade with the pegasi, the rider jumping up in the air to yeet their weapon at the enemy Sword Pallies now inherit GBA Nomad Trooper's animation and its hype. Mage Knight's is basically 1:1 from FE8 and I like it. Sniper does take after Alcryst's unique T2, but is shortened. Warrior inherits the GBA Hero's crit and its hella savage. Arts and Dagger Engaged crits are hype too. Especially Arts, where any Engaged Qi Adept becomes Liu Kang/Bruce Lee and do the 1 inch punch.
I find Alfred's Avenir crit animations really funny because the fact that he strikes three times with his lance just to sync up with how critical hits do three times the damage is cute IMO.

Nomad Trooper sword critical animation does the same, but I agree these are very dynamic. The mounted Sentinel bow critical animation looks to be a reference to it, which is pretty cool.
The wolf knight with Tomahawk (ranged axe) is ridiculous and so good, it defies physics lol. With the slow-motion at the right time, they knew what they were doing
I really like Alcryst’s double backflip but I had no idea Fogado’s crits were so flashy! Of the regular classes I really like the mage classes not just for the crit but the little animations after the fight too: making the book disappear, flipping through the pages, and for mage knight: the character sheathing their sword just sounds really nice to me for some reason. All the animations are so good in Engage.
Engage Attack and Engaged victory quotes next? Would be cool to hear all the references they pulled for the Emblems in terms of Crit quotes and Victory quotes from their games

Though, I'd give honorable mentions to sword/lance paladin since their crits are actually neat.

I think it's safe to say we finally have 3D combat animations that are at the same level as the GBA ones, this game's combat is so beautiful! I do understand the reason they gave for 3 Houses animations needing to be a little more tame, but I'm glad the devs were able to go all out for Engage
It's a kind of funny how much effort went into animating all these crits just for about a third to never be used used due to the promotion exp mechanics
I feel like this should be an insignificant detail but I appreciate that there aren't really many ridiculous character/class combinations to showcase this. Just cool animations from the characters you'd expect to see them from :)
Watching this makes me want to a meme run where I play with some unconventional class character combinations. Like wolf knight Alfred and barbarian Céline.
Wish all of the Levin Sword animations were more like the Griffin Knight one. Reminds me of the Wind Edge animation of RD or the old cool sword wave the Ragnell used to do
This feels much more closer to the GBA games than anything they've done in recent years. Even the armored classes feel closer to GBA generals. I was really disappointed in the pill bug look they gave Awakening, and the ones after that weren't all that good either. They look great now.
0:42, was someone on the dev team a fan of the Lion's Claw Ash of War from Elden Ring? The resemblance is uncanny. Also she's cheating as Lion's Claw can't be put on polearms in Elden Ring, unless you count the COMICALLY oversized Golem's Halberd Colossal Weapon.

i dont get to see the sleipnir rider one much as i often have her just MELTING people while engaged with lyn............. speedtaker on a spellcaster just feels kinda evil

Wolf Knights have amazing animations in general. Gotta give it to the Axe Wolf Knight, though for the wolf flicking the axe at the enemy. Amazing.
I really enjoy the use of camera angles in these. Prime examples being the Sniper and Great Knight (Hand Axe) having you follow the projectile.
Most of the crits in this game are next level.
And then the axe crits are all in a league of their own!

It's just a front flip strike, which has been a JRPG staple for decades. This one has the added detail of her vaulting off the polearm first, though.

My problem with this franchise is that I can't get over how much better the GBA trilogy was. Swordmaster Crit in GBA > any swordmaster crit in 3D.
I prefer a lot of crits in this game to those of GBA, and I'm a huge GBA fan, when it comes to fe7 and fe6.
