#Mazda #Hyundai #comparison
I’ve owned a Mazda CX-90 for 2 months now Premium in Artisan Red. I crossed shopped with the Telluride and Pallisaide, the Mazda wins for quality build, performance and styling
I switched from Mazda to 24 Palisade Calligraphy. CX90 was nice but not ideal for big families with a dog. I can fit 4 adults 2 kids and a lab in a Palisade with space for cargo, not happening in the Mazda. I also like the luxury and tech amenities of the Palisade more. Engine wise, i would give it to the CX90. 30 mpg on the highway with that inline 6 is amazing.
The CX90 does have a towing mode. When you add the hitch and harness, it will show up on the screen.
CX 90....simply because I use this vehicle for long family trips. Best in class for driving dynamics in this 3 Row SUV segment in my humble opinion
As empty-nesters, my wife and I are more interested in the driving dynamics and long distance travel comfort. We're going for the Mazda.
If you want long distance comfort, you're much better off with the Hyundai. Mazda has a hard ride and even harder seats. Mazda seems incapable of making comfortable seats.
@@gixxersboyincorrect. But everyone should sit in any vehicle before they buy.
@@gixxersboyI agree. Palisade is waaayyyy more comfortable on long drives.
lol this makes no sense.
This makes no sense. Why would you buy a 3 row SUV in the first place? Just get a wagon or a hatchback if you want driving fun and some extra storage.
We tested the Palisade, Telluride, and the CX-90. We absolutely loved the drive, feel, and performance of the Mazda. We ended up purchasing the Turbo S Premium Plus. Definitely made the best decision!
Me too
Bad news. Mazda slashed the prices on the cx90 down. Now a turbo s premium plus is little over $55,000. They understood the prices being too high and matching cx70 pricing. In US, competition offered more for less, but now, they have a chance. They need to fix the transmission problems though.
We bought our cx-9 once we had kids because of how well our 2018 Mazda 3 drove. I was on the side of practicality over driving and suggested the Kia or Hyundai however my wife stated “I have to drive this everyday and I want my Mazda”….. needless to say amazing driving experience and the 90 would win in our house if we were buying a new one.
My wife and I are seniors. The Hyundai; hands down! 😊
We purchased the Ultimate calligraphy, we've owned Hyundai for the past 16 years and have never had any issues. I love the amenities in the Calligraphy and I love the seats, who doesn't like getting a massage while driving especially if you have a bad back.
Drive a car that excites you. Mazda cx90 definitely is fun to drive.
Good morning from Batavia New York USA. You guys have a great channel. Wife and I both enjoy your reviews.
Thank you kindly!
went car shopping with my wife , she took one look at the CX-90 compared it to a hearse and never went back . We looked at Honda Pilot, Toyota Grand Highlander , VW Atlas , KIA Telluride. Went with the Hyundai Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy edition because of the price and the luxury features , ride , comfort and space . Hands down the best of the bunch .
I believe people really need to test drive these vehicles and find out how it really feels to drive them and know what they’re going to use it for.
The Mazda CX90 Azami is amazing. The interior is levels above. 100% recommend it for families.
My friend got black ink cali palisade and I got cx 90 turbo S premium. Long drive for 6hrs. Got fuel , power and driving advantage. Especially in uphill wavey roads. I even slowing down for him to catch up😅. Semi Off roads or snowy roads too cx 90 had the advantage. My friend want to swap to cx90
Thanks for the great reviews between two.
Very helpful!
I know now which one to buy. Thanks again .
I believe that you have a more base level CX-90 it has a smaller screen. I believe the CX-90 S and PHEV models have a somewhat larger screen.
Hey Truck King!!! Noticing more car companies going back to inline motors..Nice!!
FYI guys - the Explorer, Durango and Grand Cherokee L are all rear drive based AWD 3 row crossovers in this same class.
As someone who owns two vehicles in this class and has a young family, I enjoy this content. Love to see some maybe 3,000 lb trailer towing and very light off roading for these.
I look at Mazda CX 90 I’m so glad that they put a tire in cargo area beside under suv because it was nicer like my 2015 Toyota Venza
Mazda all day. I love what Hyundai has been doing, across all their brands but I love cars and I love driving. Hyundai’s tech is a few notches above Mazda. For me though, if I’m gonna be behind the wheel, gimme the Mazda. Their center dial is great once you get used to it. Way better than reaching for any touchscreen IMO. Note: I do not own a Mazda anymore, but I still love what they do. They’re definitely not for everyone though.
Hyundai Palisade looks better for me and has proven to be reliable, I can’t stand the side and the rear of the CX90
I hate that rear of CX 90 too so I’ll go with palisade 24/7
You don't have to hold down the button to lower or raise the 3rd row. Just press and release.
You missed something on the Mazda. When you actually hook something to tow on Mazda the tow mode is engaged and able to select.
Excellent review as always!!! 😁
I would love to hear TK’s views on how these two SUV’s compare to the new Honda Pilot.
Pilot is the same basic target cheap concept with Hyundai .
CX90 is advanced and ambitious design unheard off in this price range
It would have been nice to add the new Honda Pilot to the mix.
Mazda for my money
[45 cubic feet] - How wide is the cargo opening between wheel wells? Cubic feet may matter in a grain container, but in SUVs people want to know what they can put in the back. Palisade may have more cubic feet, but the pass between wheel wells looked narrower, at least looking at the video.
Test drove both, also test drove the GH and the Pilot. Palisade won by far
I love Mazda CX-90 luxurious 😍
Great content, very informative and useful information, for me Hyundai, thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
as much as i like the exterior design of the Mazda, the practicality and interior of the Pallisade specially the dashboard and all those buttons wins it for me except i prefer the panoramic sunroof of the CX-90
All right then I feel the ❤ good work two men doing a job that ❤
I see the Mazda was averaging 8.1 to the Hyundais 12.8 , not sure if it was mentioned .
The CX90 doesn't have a 360° view camera system compared to the Hyundai Palisade, and plus, the info screen is touch screen &lots of other things future you don't get on the CX90 ,my top choice is Palisade all way long
Turbo Premium plus has 360 camera.
This model does have a 360 camera… go to 10:30
18:15 I looked at this vehicles twin, the Telluride. MY wife convinced me to get the CX90.
She felt it was easier to get into the third row and the CX90 just looked classier.
@@sheldonduffy9442for $60k? 😅
The grill on that Palisade looks like a goth who puts on their lipstick while distracted.
I tried all the contenders (Telluride, Pathfinder, etc.) No comparison in value. I got the Turbo S Premium which has more power than the model you tested - I should've tried the Hybrid, but I didn't. Regarding the 21-inch wheels - if I could've got my model with the smaller wheels, I would have. I'm not autocrossing this things and a taller sidewall gives better bump absorption and, better protection from pothole-derived wheel damage (I'm in Pothole, Pennsylvania), and MUCH cheaper replacement tires. But I couldn't so "F" it - I'm rocking the 21s. PS third-row seats are for kids only - not a big MFer like you.
Totally agree about the smaller wheels. But I am still loving my PHEV model.
I’m at the age where comfort is more important to me because I’m not driving like I’m a teenager also I need to get all I can get for my money my kids are grown they have their own cars me and my wife want to be comfortable was going to get a grand highlander but it’s not available when I got into the 90 I felt cramped had a cx9 in 2016 think that it looked better than the 90 just gonna say I love my palisade calligraphy has the most for my money 👍
Pop's is %100 on with the buyer of theses vehicle's.
Answer to title of video : grand highlander. Got one!
Grand Highlander comes with Grand Added Dealer Markup.
Like the Mazda style and idea, but they dropped the ball on interior space. As Im typing this, I get a CX90 commercial about a Mom wanting it for a roomy car. 😂 Good concept and exterior, but they should have done much more on the interior to maximize space. The 2nd row options stink too, many of the higher trim come with a giant immovable console between the 2 rows.
Reliability wise its the mazda. Hyundai reliability issues have been cropping up way to frequently.
Be careful, cx90 is pretty complex...
Mazda all day
Mazda will be far more reliable and will drive better.
Without kids I'm going cx90. With them, pallisade.
PALISADE for me.
While the Mazda won’t win the size prize. Some of the demerits you had for it about tech and features just were because you had a lower trim. The higher trims get a 12 in screen and a fully digital cluster. They also get other drive modes etc.
It’s still missing out on roof mounted rear ac and there are no theirs row vents. Which kills it for me since someone will always be in the 3rd row.
Mazda has third row vents at the knee position.
CX90 is in a different league in many ways , way better and more advanced ! Hyundai should be econo budget choice and should be starting at 10K less than CX90 but it is not what makes it overpriced considering how it's designed and build.
You forget that mazda cx9 was an econo budget. It still had good quality of materials. CX90 is straight up overpriced and mazda did nothing to improve the interior space. They only focused on engine and driving dynamics. Might as well get a two row suv if you are going for the CX90.
@@al151 CX90 has plenty of room while it drives head and shoulders above the rest , design, fit and finish is fantastic and unheard of in this price range .
Oh and nothing is overpriced , at 39K it is a bargain and steal and PHEV can be leased at laughable 379usd per month with modest down payment and it returns crazy MPG when recharged daily for a cost of 2.5usd .
You want more road feel put it in sport.
The Mazda is so good looking. The Hyundai not so much and to me borders on ugly from the side.
Cx 90hands down. Faster, and way better gas mileage.
I’d take the Mazda … hate Hyundai but it is the better looking vehicle just don’t trust them on drivetrain
Sorry I disagree. Mazda for the win.
My wife leased a palisade. I was 90% sure we were getting a cx90. But when I drove it I didn't like it. The steering was to heavy and felt artificial. Somehow you think that equates to steering feel. I thought it felt like garbage. It has waaay less interior space. Your hair was touching the ceiling in the second row and you somehow think that's a non issue. It would drive anyone nuts to have their hair brushing up on the ceiling. Then I drove the telluride and was blown away. It drives sportier than the palisade with perfectly weighted steering and suspension that soaks up every road imperfection. I'm so disappointed with the Mazda.
Did you compare to the new Honda Pilot as well?
@@mountainhobo no. I should have. I usually love how Hondas drive.
@@mountainhoboHonda Pilot is a step backwards. Less mpg and hard touch plastics. It also comes with a screen smaller than a cellphone. Road noise is also a complaint with the Pilot.
Mazda 100%
Just bought my Mazda cx90. I was sold on Palli or even their sister KN Teletubbie. I want a reliable car. KN and HP wants yo sell you tech and I am not jumping on this silly bandwagon .
Mazda all the way
what concerns me about the mazda is its initial quality issues. Check out the cx90forum...nothing but horror stories. It was kinda meant to be, as this has unnecessarily complex hybrid powertrain which doesnt really improve anything.
Man!!! Lunch hour sucks!! Not enough time for the whole show...Forgive me Steve..back at 4 rewatch this video
Mazda is certainly more capable than the Hyundai for less than ideal conditions, despite the different “modes” Hyundai claims.
Plus, that front grill on the Palisade - ugly.
Than comes reliability, than comes build quality , than comes sound of the stereo , than comes where it was build , fuel economy , torque levels, off road if needed despite million unnecessary drive modes will be better on RWD biased vehicle like CX90, quality of plastics and materials ....and if you are a big guy like the tester , for me 6ft 210lbs guy CX90 feels perfect and same for my average size fsmily of 4 , Hyundai feels too big and boaty and that how it drives ....
Do Hyundai's engines still catch on FIRE?
If you value your kids lives, go with the Mazda...why, because it is far superior handling in regards to accident avoidance...like the "Moose" test. You can do extreme maneuvers without losing control like you would in other cars which would flip over, potentially saving your passengers lives...typical biased review incorrectly using his kids as the reason when it's the wrong decision when it comes to safety. Enough said.
Mazda
I would go with the Mazda. I like what Hyundai is doing with looks, but having owned both, Hyundai just isn't as reliable and they don't stand behind their product as well. Every Hyundai I've owned had problems and tons of recalls. A lot of recalls were made without a immediate solution or fix. My daughter owns one that she has had recalls for over a year and still no fix for it. With as much as cars cost today, I'm just not giving them my money.
I had an issue with my Elantra GT 2014 . Engine blew off, but even at 160k and 10 years old, Hyundai did replace the engine... Don't think Mazda would do the same.
Disagree with this. Ive had Hyundai in 3 continents and 3 models (Middle East, Korea and Latin America) and have had precisely zero technical issues in 10 years of driving them. The 10 year warranty shows they believe in the reliability of their tech. The only issue I had was a battery going flat but it did so after 5 years which youd expect anyway. Maybe Ive just been lucky but until Im not, I trust Hyundai over others. That said, I really do like the CX90 and its the first time in a long time Ive been tempted away. But for me, the tech and space is what wins it for Palisade and Im getting mine in April.
@@thisweekmetaverse I'll agree with you here. I've had 3 different Hyundai models over the past 17 years, all different drivetrains, 2.0L Elantra, 3.8L Entourage, now a 2.4L Santa Fe. The Elantra with a 2.0 was a commuter getting driven about 2k per month, switched to synthetic oil and filter and changed the oil only twice a year. I put 175K on the Entourage 3.8 I bought brand new. That thing took a beating from our family with 3 young kids from long trips to camping and hauling lumber, and it never let us down. All I ever did to it was an alternator replacement and an a/c condenser. When I sold it the engine was as quiet and smooth as the first day I bought it. Currently on a 2020 Santa Fe with the N/A 2.4. 53k on it and no issues, still haven't even replaced the factory tires on it yet. Got the lifetime powertrain & bumper-to-bumper so that one's a keeper. Just like any other manufacturer, there are duds. But comparing the Palisade to everything else, we have a solid 3.8V6 with a good history and a ton of reliable tech on the base models vs a bunch of new turbo 4-bangers with hybrids. You can't use the words "reliabilty" and "brand new design" in the same sentence. Only time will tell whether these new turbo designs will go the mile, and so far, they've only been in use a couple years.
👍👍
You didn't mention reliability. On that alone I would choose the Mazda. You couldn't run fast enough to give me the HYUNDRI.
I cannot stress enough how bad Hyundai, Kia and Genesis are. They look good on the outside but they are not mechanically sound vehicles. I owned the Genesis GV80 Prestige for a year…. their FLAGSHIP model! Even the mechanic said they were having issues with the V6….. ALL of their V6’s. We sold ours after 1 year and 14,000kms. I would NEVER buy another Hyundai related auto again. My favourite ownership experience goes to Lexus, Mazda and Toyota…. in that order.
I’m sure there are people who have had the same experience with a Toyota, Mazda and Honda…
There’s no point in saying everyone has the same problem, it’s just not factually correct. Take a walk
@@ScenicD sit down clown
GV80 has a turbo v6 not naturally aspirated like Palisade. Wrong choice for reliability!
I’ve never liked Mazdas styling. I’m sure they make a reliable vehicle, but they are just ugly to me. Also, isn’t the Ford Explorer in this class and also Rear wheel drive biased?
I only purchase “Made in America” only……….
Is there anything actually made in America anymore?
Good luck with that...
I couldn't afford the American car I wanted so I bought a Palisade SEL Premium Pkg. No regrets.
The only positive thing i can say about the cx90 is that its nice to see they finally ditched the all black, cavelike interior. they copied hyundai partially and went w lighter color A and D pillars only, plus the headliner. the new engine is suspect. over designed, overly complicated, expensive to repair and service. the turbos dont seem to do much on lower trims when you compare numbers to NA v6 engines in the segment. funny how the korean 3 row formula is beating both the american and japanese oems at their own game. the sales numbers prove it. we should get a new explorer and durango here soon and the traverse/acadia and GCL are new, but still lag behind pilot, ascent, and gr highlander. 11 suvs to choose from aint bad though and if you like even smaller 3row suvs, theres 3 more...highlander, sorento and santa fe are keeping their 3rd rows for some reason. i wish the new santa fe would stay 2 row to compete w passport and GC as offroaders. the mini van is still king on space and cargo though, actually more than even a full size suv.
No Mazda for you ....enjoy you couch on wheels with numb steering ...no thanks .

Why?
@zendude06 He is trying to make a living. No one forces you to watch.
golly gee, from the files of the incredibly obvious just like no one forced yo to comment...@@mountainhobo
@@zendude06 I will try this very slowly, so you grasp it - I WANTED to watch the video. You apparently thought it was pointless to even post such video, yet you watched and commented. Bravo.
Hay boy them an't trucks that be suv crap box stick to trucks not 💩 poo box's 🦃
They provide good reviews regardless of the vehicle type their filming. I don’t see any issue with expanding a bit into segments that many people buy. If they stuck to just pickups, the amount of content on their channel would be halved, and that would be a bummer for everyone.
I would like see more SUV reviews than Trucks
It is so ridiculous Mazda CX90 info entertainment center screen size! For that price Should be bigger!
