    I like this frank and honest interview very much down to earth. I remembered in 2018 when I visited Alibaba’s head office to meet VP for beauty and skin care division she gave me only 10 mins and asked money upfront RMB 200,000K without even understanding how my niche product could be a winner for the Chinese market. I left disappointed. Fast forward today we are one of the top men’s skin care niche brand in China. I am so glad Alibaba has now realized and restarted focusing on main driver of its business that is merchants and consumers.

      Hi and thanks for the subscription! We are the largest single owner in the world’s stock markets. We are as of April 2024 a 1.7 trillion dollar fund, safeguarding the financial wealth of current and future generations of Norwegians. We are one of the largest funds in the world. Our investments are spread across most markets, countries and currencies to achieve broad exposure to global growth and value creation, and ensure good risk diversification. The fund has a small stake in about 9,000 companies worldwide, including the likes of Apple, Alibaba, Nestlé, Nvidia, Microsoft, McDonald's, Tesla, and the list goes on. On average, the fund holds 1.5 percent of all of the world’s listed companies. The aim of the fund is to ensure a long-term management of revenue from Norway’s oil and gas resources, so that this wealth benefits both current and future generations. The fund’s formal name is the Government Pension Fund Global.
      Transparency is key for us, so this podcast is actually for all of you to learn more about the companies we own. You can view every single company we're invested in, and by how much, on our website here: www.nbim.no/en/the-fund/investments/#/
      And feel free to read more about the fund here: www.nbim.no/en/
      Wish you a great day and hope to see you in the next podcast too!

      The issue with Alibaba isn’t solely related to its company structure; it’s also about the business model. Alibaba’s Taobao platform heavily relies on advertising for revenue. When you visit the website, you’re bombarded with flashing ads everywhere, which can be distracting. This poses a significant challenge.

    • @taijistar9052
      @taijistar9052 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Trustworthy customer reviews are important to any marketplace, especially online marketplace. Taobao has a lot to improve in this area. Fake,and exaggerated reviews are too widespread in taobao, you literally can’t trust reviews there.

    Thanks for the interview. 1 question regarding his quote “you can’t bet against the Chinese people”. I don’t doubt the Chinese economy could grow but unfortunately their had been no evidence of their stock market growing with their economy (GDP). Why hasn’t there been stock market growth in China given their huge amount of economic growth? Will this trend change? And why?

    • @rayzhong8650
      @rayzhong8650 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Chinese stock market lacks necessary regulatory rules in place, making it a shithole for Shell companies & their founders to rob investors' wealth through IPOs. Fortunately that trend is begining to change. The Chinese SEC is currently going through a series of regulatory actions to crack down such scames. Let's see whether it will eventually help build a normal stock market for China.

You have to pay attention to Chinese politics. It is constantly changing. It was great to see this interview however. This could be the bottom, but it could also be a head fake if XJP moves in on Taiwan in a few years. If Trump is elected then things could get really wide all around the world.
