I can see you are used to mostly explain live in front of people, that's why you repeat the instructions even if it's not necessary in a youtube video where people can rewind. and id like to say that you are made to be a teacher, great video!

I agree, I appreciate the calm and patient demeanor. A quick question; I haven't gotten another bag yet or gloves (had to sell mine before a move), would it be ok for me to learn with shadowboxing for now? Would like my son to learn with me. Thanks!

Thickus Buttus right I never seen the tow separator things used like that. But it’s kinda a good idea. A lot of people do wrap their hands differently especially with 180 wrap.m, there is way less to do with 108 wrap.

Also, you should do a video on how to recover/ways to heal little tweaks in the hands and wrists. My index knuckle is messed up. Not broken I think, but hurts anytime I connect with the bag or pads. I’m going to try wrapping my hands like this next time I’m in the gym. If that doesn’t help I’ll just stick to no impact stuff like shadow boxing and conditioning for a couple weeks.

I just had a fight in Seattle and I lost. I threw more punches, landed more punches, I got off faster than my opponent, and less damage. Dude was bleeding all over me.
Granted I lost 41 pounds in a month in a half. I was 195 he was 230. I box collegiately. The Neveda coach told my coach that i was a good boxer but what I lack is “Showmanship” and “Controlling the center of the ring”. I don’t know if you experienced this before but I feel like it would benefit fighters who are competing.

  • @JackassHill
    @JackassHill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm gunna try this. I always start the same way you did, but I work my way around the wrist back to the forearm first. It's four revolutions back, and then two up. Then I go diagonally between the thumb/pointer finger, and back around the wrist three times. Then three revolutions around the knuckles and back to the underside of the thumb to start going between the knuckles. After every knuckle, I run another revolution around the wrist. I use long wraps, so this gives me just enough to come back and wrap around the knuckles wraps a couple times, and I fasten it on top or underneath the knuckles depending on how tight it is. Main reason I do it this way, is because I have big hands/knuckles and thin wrists. This gives me great wrist support, and I've never had any problems with it. Now that I think about it, the thumb support is probably nowhere near as good as yours is.

  • @shhotput

Also didn't quite get the "roll of quarters" bit. Do i really need to have something soft in my palm or can i just bunch up the wrap a few more times there?

You ever see Robert Garcia's and Mikey Garcia's hand wrap method? Similar but he does the knuckle wrap first, using the wrap primarily for the top of the knuckles. It's been helping a lot since I have a banged up right hand. Also he uses a sponge(sometimes) and wraps over that.. Thanks for all the advice tho. It's really taking me to another level.

balancing on your hands is only a first step. You need to progress to balancing on wobbly surface - like one of those half-balls you see people do squats on.
When you stand on the fist on a flat solid surface, you're conditioning the hand for the squeeze, but the muscles that hold the fist position are getting a free ride.

Brand new guy here. What's with these gel wrap gloves? Do they take the place of a traditional wrap? Any help is appreciated.
    Loving your channel JT.

Thanks for making this!!! I'd been wondering how you wrapped your hands, particularly b/c after getting your gloves I have plenty of knuckle protection and now need better wrist support! And what kind of wraps are those? I like that they have rubber lines running the length of them to grip better!

Thank you so much for your videos first of all I JUST started boxing about a week ago very exciting. But I definitely don’t know any of this I only hit the bag about 25-30 minutes but I definitely wanna take care of my knuckles on the first day I even think I hit too hard. If you don’t get to answer these questions hopefully someone can help me out.
Firstly, can I reuse the same wrap a couple of times or do I need to use new ones every time?
    Also, is there specific tape?
Thank you & God bless 🙏🙂

Thank you!! You can definitely re-use the wrap many many time. You air them out after use and wash them once every couple weeks. I usually have 2-3 pairs of wraps in a rotation so I don't have to wash as much. The tape I use is Hockey tape.

Protect yourself, take care of your body. You won’t feel it at 20. At 30, maybe a couple years before that, is when you’ll start feeling all the damage you did.

When I was much younger a coach of mine said: "Don't take care of you, the 20 year old, take care of the 60 year old you". Great advice. I am nor 64 and still going strong.
