I might have an idea for a video idea. Since I've struggled with the motivation to game in the last few years, how about this one... Games that made you excited about gaming again.
Hey, thanks y'all! Personally, I hadn't been excited about a game for a bit, but then I heard we'd be getting one more hurrah from Bruce Campbell as Ash in Evil Dead... I was disappointed personally, mainly because there really wasn't much single player love (one of the biggest reasons I've not played many games in the last few years). I certainly hope Midnight Suns and Suicide Squad deliver!
How's about a top 10 times characters crossed over into a different franchise? E.g. Akuma/Noctis in Tekken, Ezio/2B in Soul Calibur, Raiden/Reptile/Scorpion/Sub-Zero in NBA Jam, etc...
video idea: 8 sudden bizarre/out of place moments in video games that somehow fit in example: in gears of war 3 in the midst of a battle in a stadium, Cole (a former football champion) begins to day dream of his glory days, mistakes a bomb for a football, charges through multiple lambent drudges (big mutant zombie esk things) with style, scores a touchdown exactly where the bomb was meant to be, and proceeds to do victory taunts right next to the bomb and survives yes i know i reposted, just making sure our bold lord and savior sees this
I honestly _loved_ the Nakayama "boss fight"! It made me crack up laughing. I expected something wacky to happen (I mean, they _did_ build up to that expectation with how inept they made him seem), but certainly didn't expect him to just... fall down the stairs! Lol 😆
List Idea: The Weirdest Ways Games Fixed Their Flaws. (like Mario 3D World and Street Fighter 2 turning glitches into the Double Cherry item and the Combo mechanic respectively)
How about "8 times the last character you fight, the literal only enemy standing between you and victory, is some chump." Yes I am thinking about the Mass Effect 3 Marauder, how could you tell?
How about a similar list: Bosses you should be embarrassed IF you lose to? The ones that can beat you but you'd have to really really bad at the game for them to do so
Love the tues your own adventure posts. Most of all, as a mental health support worker your positive sign off messages are BRILLIANT!! Thanks for helping kick the elephant out of the room and make it o.k. to talk about mental health. So one in the balls for good measure. J You are an absolute legend. Thanks
Let's not forget (unless I'm remembering incorrectly) you literally cannot lose to Sephiroth at the end of the original Final Fantasy VII (1997) and if you take too long Cloud will finish him off for you
Mother Brain in Super Metroid. Once you defeat her NES form and she goes full dino on you, the battle is basically scripted. Sure, you could technically lose once you get the Hyper Beam, but Mother Brain is basically Glass Joe at that point and you would have to actively try to lose.
Loved the video. Have a safe trip on your travels. Hey here's an idea Jules, games where you travel all over the world while playing though the storyline
Secret of Mana is one of my all time favourite games. It still holds up and you really needed to grind for some of the bosses, which you almost felt bad doing as the enemies and the start were so cute
Ach, I have great memories of this one DOS game that I so wish I could remember the name of. My sister and I played that game so much! You played as an astronaut adventurer fighting aliens in a setting fairly similar to Metroid. There were secrets everywhere, too. Never could get past this one level- could beat the boss, but had zero clue where to go or what to do next. So I'd just start from the beginning again. Lol 😆 My little sister used to like falling asleep to the "bleep-bloops" of the computer made sound effects as I played... Yeah, really great memories. Thanks for the nostalgia! 😄
As an 80s kid I would like to see this list, although I can't think of even 1. Day of the Tentacle might be 1 but I don't think that came out in the 80s and the remastered version is way better.
Yeah, Yu Yevon was more a playable cutscene than anything else, which was a little surprising. The preceding boss was sort of the real final boss, but he's not built up that way. Professor Nakayama was a fun one at least. I mean, you can't loose to him because you can't even fight him, but the fakeout boss fight is still pretty funny. At least Electrocutioner allows you to hit the button to attack, it just triggers a cutscene. And then you have to fight Deathdtroke not too long after.
I call bosses like Yu Yevon "Denouement Bosses." They are a significant part of the story, but it's more of the theme than battle. Here, you're sending Yu Yevon to his final resting place. I think the creators wanted the player to be able to do that.
I think there needs to be a list of cool features that have not been recycled. An example, Sid Meier’s Pirates Gold had a aging mechanic that made the game more difficult as you played longer instead of scaling up enemies. And yes, I’ve played sifu but that felt to *me* like a lives system not a difficulty modifier. I would love to see this feature in some of the new massive RPGs. I think it would lend to multiple play throughs.
By the way i have a few suggestions for next episode that i wanted to share 1 - best video game spritual succesors 2 - 10 times that publishers destroyed video games and developers payed for it 3 - video game missions that trolled fsns/players 4 - video game missions that didn't fit in their games 5 - indie game knock offs from AAA games that were better 6 - video games that hid importend part of their story in side missions/optional content 7 - times that developers made fun of their publishers in game 8 - video game final missions that saved that turned the game on its head
I remember playing the original version of FFX as a kid and I somehow i lost to Yu Yevon the 1st time around, that was before i figured out that i can beat him in 2 moves by infecting him with zombie then giving him a phoenix down
All of your characters are permanently enhanced with auto life in that battle. I think the only way you can get a game over is if one of the Aeons knock out all three party members at once
@@OversoulGaming if i remember correctly, thats what happened, i think it was Yojimbo that did me in, either that or the 3 bug aeons (I forgot their names)
I think in the original ps2 version you could die because you didn't have a permanent auto-life. I'm pretty sure they added that in for the remastered version. Good chance I'm wrong but I think I remember that from my childhood lol
Hey there jules i want to thank you and every one else on whatculture team you guys are awsome and your videos are great I'm specially a big fan of your (tuse your own adventure) and (these things suck) I watch them when i'm dawn or have free time they cheer me up , make me laugh and some times give me serious advise to think about and improve or change my life i truly appreciate you for it
Another boss battle you cannot lose is the first battle with Ridley in "Super Metroid." Since he'll take off as soon as your life gets to under 30%. It is possible to beat him, but again, you don't have to. One boss you can lose to, but you would have to go out of your way to do so, is the first boss in the first "Contra" on the NES. A boss almost so non-threatening that it was demoted to being a mini-boss (two of them, in fact) in the first stage of "Contra III; The Alien Wars" on the SNES. LOL In fact, that is my suggestion for a future video: "Video Game Bosses You Can Lose To, But are So Non-Threatening It Would Take Losing On Purpose To Do So." (Okay, that title is a bit long, but you get the idea.)
Clicked on this specifically for Yu Yevon. The mechanics of the fight itself were neat, but the zero stakes of having auto life on everyone just made it something to slog through rather than a real boss fight. Funny though, I played so much of that game I eventually became leveled to the point that I could just off him with a single normal attack from most characters haha.
One that you can lose, but can't lose once you progress far enough, is Mustache Girl in A Hat in Time. It starts out as a normal fight where there IS a chance to lose, but after a certain point you get plot hax and heal damage off almost as soon as you get hit. I don't THINK you can lose at that point anyway, unless you tried pretty hard to die on purpose.
Not gonna lie, there's been times the weather is shitty, I don't have 2 pennies to rub together, I'm lonely, and I feel totally worthless, and those little motivational moments at the end get me crying like a baby. But they really make you feel better, so thank you.
Army of Two will always be one of my absolute favorites but the end boss and his number one turns into a cutscene. Considering how unbelievably action packed the game is, that was the biggest shock and let down for me
Yu Yevon was more simbolic than effectively meant to be a challenge, showing off how weak he is without an Aeon to use as a shield. No clue on the Auto life part tho :) Many people for this reason don't consider it the final boss, giving the crown to the magnificent Braska's Final Aeon
oh, that reminds me of a VERY old Text adventure game, where your character is slowly dying, and has to keep taking some pills to keep going. if you DROP the bottle of pills at ANY time, you die immediately! the main objective is to find a magical mask, which can cure you BUT, get this, i read that the game tries to fool you with a fake mask that will kill you! the fake mask is on top of a pedestal, the real one is hidden IN the pedestal!
Jules: Zote is an actual joke, easiest boss in Hollow Knight Grey Pince Zote & The eternal Ordeal: *Allow us to introduce ourselves* I would personally put Tiso in there. He is teased to be a boss for much of the game, him talking about finding the collosseum and then seeing him there. All that only to see his corpse below the arena And then there is the Pantheon, where he appears from a brief second and you think you're gonna finally have an epic showdown with him, only for him to be crushed by Brooding mawlek which is the actual bossfight
Top Ten original songs/OST played repeatedly in game(e.g. battle themes, hub world theme, etc) but never got old even after the credits Examples: several nintendo titles City ruins from Nier Automata, that GTA San Andreas song( you know the one)
Not sure if this one or something similar has been done, but how about best rug pulls in games (e.g. AC3 when it’s revealed that Haytham is actually a Templar/you were never actually Snake/Big Boss, but Venom Snake instead in MGSV/Yakuza 6 turns into a partial babysitter sim in chapter 3)
reminds me of the boss battles in an old "G.I.Joe" arcade game: one is a GIANT helicopter with lots of weapons, and occasionally The Baroness will jump out and shoot at you with a machine gun. the ONLY way to win is to shoot HER! all of the bosses in that game are like that, you HAVE to take out the LEADER to win. killing the "adds" does you NO good, they NEVER stop coming!
I actually think yu yevon fits well - yu yevon's not a classic 'driven mad with a envy for the living, they turn into fiends' unsent - pretty much everything but the desire to summon's been taken away, and you're basically supported by all of the fayth to finish him off. Whereas the fight with braska's final aeon had more emotional stakes, and was a more fitting final challenge.
How about Cameo boss battles like the previous game Atelier Iris 3 enemies as an optional boss battle in Mana Khemia Ps2 and PSP as well as Gunnar Dam/Flay Gunnar Past Clone Self with different hair color and actual MK2 character from the previous MK as an optional boss only in the PSP port of Mana Khemia 2?
I don't know if you'd consider it a boss, but Melon Bread in Gunstar Heroes was impossible to lose to, it was one of the fights in the dice palace, I don't remember it even being able to damage you if you stood still lol
I loved how trivial all the bosses are after you get double crissegrims.... Oh you meant the opening scene.... Really the entire game gets fun the moment you get your second crissegrim and basically become invincible.
The hardest boss in Final Fantasy X is continuing the game after seeing that laughing scene with Tidus and Yuna. Also, here's a list idea Jules: Top Mechanics Able To Be Abused To Break A Game Completely
How about a list of "Games wrongly accused of canceling other games". I'm specifically thinking Secret of Evermore here, which is often blamed for Secret of Mana 2 (ie. Seiken Densetsu a.k.a. Trials of Mana) not being localized in North America.
What about Undertale's final boss of a Pacifist run? You literally can't lose in that fight, as, due to your heavy build-up of Determination to save your monster friends you befriended up to this point, no matter how many times (spoilers below) Asriel Dreemurr reduces your HP to zero, you have the strength of Determination to refuse facing death, and reform your broken soul each time. The first time this may happen, should you fail to dodge Asriel's attacks enough, that he reduces your HP to 0, as the game is about to show you your soul breaking from losing all your HP, the message: "But it refused" will display and your soul repairs itself, pushing it's two broken halves back together to be whole once more. Every time you lose all your HP after that, the game just skips showing the "But it refused" message, and just moves onto repairing your soul just like before. The only punishment you get in that fight for having your HP drop to zero, is that, should it happen in that fight, you're sent back abit on your progress in winning that fight, merely taking you longer to beat Asriel (without harming him, as this is a Pacifist run he appears in as the final boss, and inflicting damage to his HP is impossible) in that battle. You literally CANNOT lose the final battle of the Pacifist run. Not even if you try to throw the fight, your soul will just revive itself every time.

The battle with Mysterio in Spider-Man 2 where his giant 3-layer health bar is taken out with one punch. Can you lose that?
maybe if you never attack the boss? but otherwise i believe ye cannot lose.

Yes I am thinking about the Mass Effect 3 Marauder, how could you tell?
Here’s another Boss that you can’t lose to: Monstar from Paper Mario. Monstar’s flashy attacks can only deal a piddling 1 point of damage a turn.
How about a similar list: Bosses you should be embarrassed IF you lose to? The ones that can beat you but you'd have to really really bad at the game for them to do so

I loved how trivial all the bosses are after you get double crissegrims.... Oh you meant the opening scene.... Really the entire game gets fun the moment you get your second crissegrim and basically become invincible.
I didn’t even think of double wielding those. Probably because the drop is so rare it would take forever to get the second one.

I'm always so excited to hear "I'm Jewels this is wut cuwture.." auto thumbs up.

Top 10 games that Are so emotional they made you cry before the end.
The hardest boss in Final Fantasy X is continuing the game after seeing that laughing scene with Tidus and Yuna.
Also, here's a list idea Jules: Top Mechanics Able To Be Abused To Break A Game Completely
You should play it again since you completely missed the point.
It was SUPPOSED to be awkward.
@@gunslinger2566 I know that. I was being cynical since that scene is the one that everyone calls out for cringe in the game. 🙄

How about a list of "Games wrongly accused of canceling other games". I'm specifically thinking Secret of Evermore here, which is often blamed for Secret of Mana 2 (ie. Seiken Densetsu a.k.a. Trials of Mana) not being localized in North America.
That 2nd to last one is the Indiana Jones pulling his gun on the sword guy in video game form.
What about Undertale's final boss of a Pacifist run? You literally can't lose in that fight, as, due to your heavy build-up of Determination to save your monster friends you befriended up to this point, no matter how many times (spoilers below)
Asriel Dreemurr reduces your HP to zero, you have the strength of Determination to refuse facing death, and reform your broken soul each time.
