@@SlayerRunefrost Most adults have to work on their birthday if it falls during the work week. Unless you have vacation days to use.
@@petersonp84 duh. Irrelevant to my question and my point. I said "who WANTS to work on their birthday" not "who HAS to on their birthday" and it sucks to work on your birthday. Oh, and speak for yourself. I generally request my birthday off and make it count as one of my 2 days off for that week, no vacation time needed. Sucks to suck I guess.
Man just seeing the first entry has be thinking about one of my biggest gripes in video games; spells or abilities that are useless against the very things they'd be most useful against. Powerful caster enemy? Immune to silence. Powerful physical foe? Immune to blind. And so on and so forth. Players don't need powerful or super niche spells to take on random encounters most of the time, leading to so many abilities that sound cool on paper but are functionally useless against the things you'd actually want to use them on.
reminds me of Relm in FF6.
her "sketch" ability, that mimics the enemy's ability, is nearly useless for a similar reason.
monster that uses fire? immune to fire.
monster that uses poison? immune to poison.
and so on.
There is one to add to the list: Armageddon, from the Ultima series (Appearing first in Ultima VI). It killed everyone in the game. EVERYONE, except some super powerfull characters. It served no practical purpose, except for the IXth game, when it was a ritual to kill the Guardian. Some games didn't even list it in its compendium. Happy Birthday, Jules.
reminds me of a weird gimmick in an old game called "the dark heart of uukrul":
when casting spells, you have to TYPE the NAME of the spell, or "prayer" if it's the Cleric using it.
the instruction manual mentions "the untranslatable prayer" called "Llarian" that no one know what it does.
BUT, at the VERY end of the story, you need to type out the last line of the ACTUAL "prayer" in the instruction manual to help destroy a tainted building and win the game.
"wur quanar wur..." is all i remember.
it's a neat bit of old-fashioned copy-protection, because someone with a pirated version of the game probably would not have the manual!
oh, and this is on TOP of the game having one of those annoying "password wheel" gadgets that you had to mess with at every checkpoint!

life in mystiq quest could be used as full cure and heal both when cast on your living party members. so not only was it the most powerful offensive spell, but it was also the best healing spell. as an aside, the game had a baller sound track

The worst thing about overpowered attacks is knowing that they only work against normal enemies, while bosses are completely immune. But when you think it over, if such an attack was to affect bosses as well, it probably would've been considered too good, and even game breaking.

Like the Nuke in Turok 2. It takes playing through 6 very hard bonus levels to get and bosses are immune to it.

Mario Party doesn't destroy friendships - sore losers and cocky winners do. I was supposed to be just fun, but some people made it into a bloodsport where actions in the _game_ (and that's what it is, just a game) were translated into real-life betrayals.
