I purchased my 2023 Monkey here in Michigan a couple of weeks ago. I'm 78 yo and have been riding since I was 16. I had 50, 90, and 125 cc bikes in the 70's and up to 750 cc bikes since then. The Monkey is so cute that as soon as I saw it, I wanted one and I definitely haven't been dissapointed. I just got back from a 30 mile ride on the back roads and am still breaking it in. You're doing well on the channel Josh and I'll keep checking back to see what you're up to. Keep the wheels down!
Josh, I just picked mine yesterday. I paid more for mine here in FL because the dealer gave the plate and registration. There were a couple of "dealer charges" that you cannot get away from; you either accept them and get your monkey or not. I will wait for your mods first and see how it goes. 😆
Hopefully you didn’t have to pay too much. I saw a video where a guy visited many car dealers, and some marked it up because of the pandemic, and others didn’t. The ones that did had a full lot, and the ones that didn’t barely had any because they sold most of their inventory. One buyer purchased an $80K pickup truck back then, and the new ones are only $50K. I think it is political, more than anything. I suspect it’s a push for the green new deal and electric vehicles.
@@monkeyfever, I agree... I paid under six thousand for it. The basic price was $4220 but then came taxes, dealer fees, registration etc. Bottom line is that it was this one or nothing at all. When you ask the dealers about it here in Fl, they respond: "they are impossible to get". So I took the chance when I could. A total miracle for me. I'm grateful.
@@CarlosPerdomo hey, I'm looking to get myself one as a first bike. Wondering about the dealership process. Was there any room for negotiation? Any tips on getting a bit of a discount on these? Most dealers seem to have nebula red vs other colors in CA
@@SummerEaze, in all honesty, I doubt there would be any room for negotiation because these bikes are on demand now. They are very hard to come by. Many people want them.

I just purchased a 2024 Monkey from Brothers Motorsports in Baxter, MN. That’s right next to Brainerd MN. Great store and great customer service! I know that I probably jumped the gun because we still have snow on the ground, but they are hard to find and I wanted to grab it while I could. I’m having fun just looking at it!
Nicely made little vid Josh. Getting my monkey in Sept, but I struggle to justify it. The things way less practical than my current sweet running, very boring Honda lead scooter, way slower than many 125 scooters, no storage, no back box, no leg protection from rain, no passenger seat, shocks seem too soft, chrome looks like it'll rust, small wheels are not so good, more expensive than other bikes.......but all that said I bought one. There's something about the monkey.
@@monkeyfever. Yep, we will see if it's a long affair. My killer question is how it deals with the hills here. My twist and go scooter rips up the hill without too much embarrassment but changing gear on the monkey might be less effective. And another thing, I don't know why my 100cc scooter has almost the same HP as the monkey......but like I said, I bought it.
@@monkeyfever The monkey is still seductive after a month and 550 miles.Its not the easiest or most comfortable bike for me. The front forks dip too drastically when hard breaking, the seat isn't as comfortable as my scooter. It's got just enough power but its slow - slow because it's like a puppy, random people are always wanting to chat about it. Remarkable.
@@TobermoryCat some options are getting a heavier fork oil weight, if that's not enough, then get fork springs specified for your weight. You can adjust the handle bars to see if that makes it more comfortable. It's such a fun little toy. A lot of strangers come up and talk to me about it, too.
@@monkeyfever yep, I'd thought to change the fork oil for thicker stuff when it goes for the 600 mile service. I'd changed the angle of the break and clutch leavers - but not so much because there is a tab stopping full adjustment. Its a fun little toy as you say. Missing having some storage though....maybe later. Cheers.

I like your video,.may I ask how tall you are? I believe you would regret lowering the Monkey, give it some time to discover, you will get used to touching with your toes. Also when you lower a bike, you throw off the geometry & it might not be as safe.
@@monkeyfever Hi Josh, I have another question for you. I went on Cycle trader which seems like a good app for bikes. I talked to a couple dealers and they both are trying to charge over MSRP. Like $900 over does that sound reasonable. They said I can make a offer, but I'm not sure whats reasonable as I haven't been in the market for a bike. Do you have any advice or suggestions when dealing with these dealers. Any advice is well appreciated! Thanks.
@@Charles-lz2tz I paid $4,700 out the door, but since it was out of state, I didn’t pay for taxes or registration. I later paid it in my state, and everything was about $5,000. It’ll be difficult to get it at that price. I’d offer $5,000 out the door. A Facebook group member said he bought his from a dealer in Illinois for about $4,600 out the door with everything. I think it was Niehaus cycle in Lichfield, IL. They didn’t have one when I was looking. I’d keep calling around, and always ask for the “out the door price.”

Honestly;;; I wouldn't take away the Dual Sport of it. I'd want to take a lot of paths through the woods as well. Maybe some lower profile mirrors would help.
That’s one thing I kinda regret doing. I could just get another set of front forks. Going through the woods does sound fun. I appreciate your comments.

Ordered two black monkeys in February of 22, dealership called a week ago and said, they are here. So they are 23's and not black, yellow and red. No black in the states right now. What fool at Honda made that decision.
I could’ve bought the CBR300 as well. As I mentioned in the video, I made this decision because it’s a mini motorcycle, and I like the retro style. For the total amount that I paid for the motorcycle and all my modifications, I could’ve bought a cbr500r, but I really like this monkey with the mods
there is a full Honda Monkey club on kauai Hawaii. I almost got a monkey the 4 speed and top speed was a no go. im getting a super cub soon I hope I've been on a list for 2 years. I live on kauai the monkey club has at least 25 guy's. for this place that's a lot.
Hey, there are a bunch of folks out there that have Monkeys and post stuff. Check out John 5XR if you want to learn about mods. I have a 2019 Yellow one and love it. I did all the mods myself and got it to about 60 mph. New muffler, air box, ECU, front 15T sprocket to 14T. And a bunch of little stuff. Cheers from the PNW!

You should have looked into a Benelli 135. A lot cheaper and much faster. I have had mine up to 70 mph.
