We free climbers would def fall from most of our heights. At some point 1 mile is no scarier than 100 miles. If you don't get what I'm saying i give up explaining.

I was once told by an employer that my profile test showed I was a calculated risk person. I agreed. Risking my life by hanging off a rock isn’t in the plans. There has to be something safer to get an adrenaline rush lol

Wow this guy is the best climber ever to have lived, he just climbed a 150 degree overhang to get to that spot, breaking several of the laws of physics in the process.
@@Victoriant1 I'm sure he is a great climber. But nobody in history has ever done an overhang as depicted in the vid. It is impossible to do a section at 60 degrees past vertical of that size. It is a trick that they are not showing the ground below him. He has jumped into that position, not climbed up into it. Even Alex Honnold could never do that, the greatest FS climber in the history of the sport. I also climbed FS when younger. I know a trick when I see it....

I used to do this in my younger days (early 90's). Stopped doing it after getting attacked by peregrine falcons, having to change route 100m up into choss and having a rock come out of the wall while holding it. Not worth the risks!

I remember watching a VHS video I rented from my local climbing store when I first started climbing in 1992.... Peter Croft was in it free soloing Astroman... and I was enthralled and amazed which gave me desire to push myself... Never did free solo much but my brother and I self taught and went on to climb a few big walls in Zion, some obscure adventure climbs, some teton climbing...and even dabbled in ice a bit... those are some of the greatest times of my fifty year life... I don't climb now but am happy I can think back to all those great and gripped times we had; good bad and the ugly... Love and miss you so much brother... 1967-2017 On belay !

I used to do this in my younger days (early 90's). Stopped doing it after getting attacked by peregrine falcons, having to change route 100m up into choss and having a rock come out of the wall while holding it.

This is Cape Town not Rio. This rock formation is specifically off Boyes Drive. Below is the suburb called Muizenberg.

I remember watching a VHS video I rented from my local climbing store when I first started climbing in 1992.... Peter Croft was in it free soloing Astroman... and I was enthralled and amazed which gave me desire to push myself... Never did free solo much but my brother and I self taught and went on to climb a few big walls in Zion, some obscure adventure climbs, some teton climbing...and even dabbled in ice a bit... those are some of the greatest times of my fifty year life...
I don't climb now but am happy I can think back to all those great and gripped times we had; good bad and the ugly...

It's amazing that if you want to achieve what is thought to be impossible, the human body and brain can accomplish things most dont realize are actually possible. To this very moment I would of never thought this could be done. Simply amazing.
