  • I really want to love the Carlink CPC200-CP2A. As a multi-mobile OS family having a single dongle that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is amazing. Unfortunately, I've been having a couple issues with the device, and I haven't been able to work them out with Carlink support. They suggested that I update the firmware, but there's a MASSIVE issue with their workflow for doing that. This video demonstrates how to work around the device's poor design.

    Thank you for this video! I would never have thought of a second wifi adapter. But now I've finally managed to upgrade my device.

    Thanks for showing me the adapter trick. I used USB tethering on another phone to establish the connection.
    I see you're using zoom in the browser to make it somewhat readable. The better way to go is just make the whole browser window smaller to the size of a phone screen. You will see all options then. 👍

      The interface is designed to be seen on a phone. If you get into the device via a phone's web browser, the interface looks much more intuitive.

    This is the only way I was able to do it. I happened to have a USB Wifi Dongle in the parts box, it still worked and became hardware device wifi 2. It wouldn't connect to the Carlkinkit, but my laptop builtin wifi would, so I used wifi 2, for my home router. The firmware updated from 2022.05.16 1659 to 2022.06.09 1652. I didn't see any real performance improvements and I wish they'd have an update history to know if I'd benefit. The device connect time didn't improve and I have to let it connect on its own. Occasionally on my 2019 Sienna I get "Cannot connect in Enhanced Mode..." which is a USB problem. The only way around that is to stop and restart the car.

    My car is Toyota Corolla 2020, but when I want to connect with Apple CarPlay, it gets stuck on the screen that says ‘Connecting...’ A green light is flashing. Versions of my iPhone and Carlinkit device are up to date but not working, how do I solve it?

      The approach I used requires a device with two Wi-Fi adapters. A phone won't work. If your phone maintains its network connection while connected to Wi-Fi, you don't need to do the complicated thing I did.

      That's an interesting question, unfortunately I don't have a car to test it with. I would expect that the car's wheel would emulate directional key presses and would pass that input to the dongle, but clearly something isn't working there. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to contact Carlink support on that.

    • @faridsmart5214
      @faridsmart5214 ปีที่แล้ว

      what a shame. The first brand mentioned in brochure is Audi, worst part is they don't provide support for product bought elsewhere other than their website, then why do they have resellers. So prospective buyers please beware that by chance if it works it's good else you'd be left a little useless plastic box.

    I have just tested the CP2A with my 2015 VW and...
    Works nice with iPhone
    Works bad with Samsung S20FE. Display becomes unresponsive, resolution is bad (everything tiny) - I will try to change it in GUI. Entire interface lags like hell. My GPS pointer falls 0.5mi behind my actual position on google maps. Google maps voice is not possible to understand (bandwidth issue).

    This connectivity situation is what's kept me from purchasing this product. my phone is connected to my home WiFi until I back out of my driveway... therefore I cannot set my CarPlay connected GPS until I'm down the street, and that's a dealbreaker.

    • @MissingRemote
      @MissingRemote  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't expect Internet connectivity to be a problem when you allow the phone to connect to the dongle for CarPlay/AA. I will include more detail around how this works in the review, but what will (should) happen is that when you turn on the car, your phone will connect automatically over BT to the dongle. The dongle will then broker the Wi-Fi connection to the phone for you. Both CarPlay and AA Wi-Fi connections will maintain the mobile's mobile data connection to the Internet when this happens.
      Ideally, this should all happen fairly quickly (it did, at least most of the time, with the AA dongle I was using previously), so unless you're jumping in the car and going immediately wireless CarPlay/AA is just a bit slower than wired. Unfortunately, if you haven't been in the car recently, this one takes quite a while to boot up (because the car shut off power to the USB port) and do all of that brokering stuff. So you could experience significant lag in the connection -> CarPlay/AA being useful.

      @@MissingRemote So I gave this a try today. Worked for about 10 minutes. Then I got out of my car, ran errands and came back and since then AA wont connect wirelessly. I ran your method and there were no updates available. I think that I wont get much help from them so this is going back.
