  • Buy this CarLinkit 2.0 wireless Apple CarPlay during their FLASH SALE for $89.90 here bit.ly/CarLink.... Visit the site for a full vehicle compatibility list.
    In this video, we update CarLinkit 2.0 dongle gadget to its newest Jan 2020.01.22.2233 firmware (there is a newer firmware at the time of this video going live 2020.06.17.0549 with improvements).
    The process is really simple and takes only a few minutes. The update will address any issues users have encountered and shared with the CarLinkint 2.0 team, so if you still experience any issues, let them know about it so they can fix it for you and anyone else experiencing the same problem.
    Please check my other videos on the CarLinkit 2.0 wireless Apple CarPlay dongle itself. This video just explores the update and how to apply it.
    Make sure the dongle is connected and has power and is running CarPlay already on your display
    Use the same iPhone that's transmitting wireless CarLinkit 2.0 to the dongle
    Open Safari on this iPhone and enter the URL 192.168.50.2 or use the QR code that is in the manual and press Go
    Wait for the page to load, it should be pretty instant as you are connecting locally
    The page will display if your dongle has an update available.
    Note the update version number under the title.
    Select the Update Now button to proceed with the update.
    Do not switch off your car, do not disconnect the dongle, do not turn off your iPhone or navigate away from the Safari page during this update.
    The update should take less than a minute.
    As soon as the update has finished it will hold on 100% and say Upgrade Successful. At this point, your dongle should reboot and load you back into CarPlay.
    If you get the same large display as I did in this video, simply retry again and it should be back to normal.

    Hi, Really nice video and information. Any ideas how I can update the carlinkit cpc200-u2w-plus unit? Both QR and manual input of the IP address gets me nowhere, its like that webpage no longer exists. Reason I wanna upgrade is because, the iPhone 12 PRO MAX no longer connects to the carlinkit inside my car (Skoda Octavia 2016). It is stalled at the red menu, where my Iphone is in the list, but next step is like aborted. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks 😊
      The IP web address is connecting locally to the dongle. Then it will try to connect to their servers to check for any available update. If you’re not even seeing the local page, that must mean something wrong with your connection to the dongle. Likely if you are not seeing anything come up on the CarPlay display.
      If you are doing this via the AC wall method, then if there is no WiFi address coming up, that also might mean the dongle is faulty and it’s the booting up to allow WiFi to enable and for you to connect to it.
      You might want to reach out to their technical support team, for further help.

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both dongles carry the same code base and compatibility. So it doesn’t really matter that much. The CarLinkit 2.0 has another features that might sway you, such as removable cable, bigger status light, possibly faster or carry 5ghz WiFi support.
      Because these dongles are from third party they all could fail with a major OS release. They carry Apple chipsets inside I believe to fool the headunit/system into thinking an iPhone is connected to it physically. So major updates should still be supported but you just never know because it isn’t an Apple supported product. But that’s a risk with any third party product or accessory that isn’t made by Apple.

Make sure you have other hands-free profiles removed and wi-fi connections are removed so the dongle can be found and connected. • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      1. Yes it helps to have Bluetooth devices disconnected, so the iPhone only knows to connect with the dongle. Connecting to other devices can hinder the initial pairing process between the dongle and the iPhone. Afterwards, you might be ok to connect to other Bluetooth devices, but this might cause some instability. It really depends on what other Bluetooth devices you are connecting to.
      2. I believe that is the latest if that is all it is suggesting, then this should be the latest, or at least an update that's required before updating. any further. The latest seems to be ok for me. Make sure you have a need to update.
