    Cool Ryan! Thanks. I have been looking for someone to break those down for me so I can start to understand the physics of how it works so that I can start to implement them into my surfing. I am tired of just going at a diagonal at most & am looking forward to adding more skills to my surfing.

    a question: when bottom turning, your rear knee is angulated somewhat towards the nose of the board rather than towards the edging rail; what is that good for? and do you have to turn your back foot towards the nose too? thanxx! jordan

    Thanks Ryan. Great breakdown. I surf shifty Sydney Northern Beaches beach breaks. My struggle is mastering dropping down the wave on take off and initiating the bottom turn before loosing speed. It's the looking down the line far enough as I'm popping up that seems to be my stumbling block. If only I could make it happen more consistently. Without it, you end up basically going straight or off on an angle "down the line" but in front of or in the white water, without the momentum to get around the section that is rattling off - the section that I should have made in the first place. It's a lock that I need the "key" to unlock, before I can really progress much further. Any "keys" you can throw me?

      I feel you, I’m from curl curl and I have to admit you have to be quick on your feet to be able to do these techniques without losing speed cause it’s almost breaks every time your about to do something.

      @HowtoRip  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey guys, it sounds like this one is pretty easy to fix. Try angling your board on an angle while you paddle in, instead of pointing the nose straight to the beach. Paddling in hard is also important here...Watch Kales latest video on surfing with flow, there are some great pointers in there which I think would help you out! Let us know how you go

    Guys really great stuff!! I have been watching for some time many of your videos and it helped me a lot. A question: just before performing the snap does your hip move slightly towards the rear leg in order to apply more pressure? Does this help for the rotation?

    Great vid. That bottom turn looks like on the rail. My rails are so fat, I don't know if they'll dig in enough. (I have an 8' wavestorm. Looking for a fish, but folks don't get rid of them, and shops don't rent them). Maybe I'm too slow, or not committed. I'll try it next week. I can now angle the take off and go along the wave, but not turn yet. Funny thing is, it's still a blast! Keep the vids comin' boys.

    When surfing backhand, I generally don't get more than 2 turns in - a bottom turn, and then a top turn that loses all power and falls off the back of the wave...Have you done a video that helps with backhand attack and how to get the correct angle/direction out of top turns to keep your momentum going? (hope this makes sense) Cheers great videos too.
