How to Fix Jeep Wrangler YJ Door Lock - Key Not Locking/Unlocking Door

In this video I show you guys how to fix the door locks on Jeep Wrangler YJs. The keys/exterior lock will stop working if a small plastic clip breaks. I show you how to replace this with a parts kit from Autozone.

Great video. I have a 1993 wrangler and my problem is that the button on the inside won’t push to the lock position. It may just need to be taken apart and freed up because it used to work. Thank you for this video it definitely was educational.

Great video and instructions, but I have a question. I run a soft top and half doors occasionally too and I don’t understand why you would even lock the doors? I’d rather someone be able to just open the door rather than cut the vinyl. Not trolling just curious as to why anyone would lock a soft top.

You’re right, it’s not super practical. That being said, it’s nice to be able to lock them when your just running in somewhere like a gas station or grocery store and have stuff in the Jeep. Sure it won’t stop a determined thief but may deter someone less motivated.
