  • Did you know that doors from Jeep YJ’s (first gen wranglers) for Cj7’s? If not, now you do. cJ7’s never had half hard doors from factory but YJ’s did and they fit Cj7’s. Take a look as I go about reassembling a pair of half doors for my 82 CJ7 Laredo.

Very helpful video. I just bought the same door handles as yours. This time they installed the yellow plastic inserts in the right direction.

Hello a good tip to help restore the plastic door handle and other plastic parts is to use a heat gun . Clean off dirt then use the heat gun to bring back color to part. Just be careful not to get to hot.

Just bought some primered half doors. Getting them painted next month. Good tip about removing the hinges. I’ll have to make sure they do that and paint the bolts. Where did you get replacement torx bolts? Home Depot or did you have to order them

Got the bolts from Crown, they sell them in a 20 pack. I think these are the ones www.amazon.com/Jeep-Hinge-76-86-Scrambler-87-95/dp/B00WROJWOC

Any chance you can show how you installed button door strikers on a CJ-7, to accept the YJ half doors?

If I can get some time soon I will make a video but I didn’t do anything specific, just loosened the button and moved it around until it felt right (opening and closing the door). You might have to take the strikers off the body (the small torq screws) because sometimes it’s hard to get the button to stay where you want it when you tighten it. I usually have to fiddle with it for a while - it’s a pain. The more tweaked your body is the harder it’s going to be, one time I had to put a washer in to extend the button out further .
