Hi Nigel, I don't comment as much I'd like to but I'm still here enjoying your videos! I really appreciate all your effort and explaining your thought process while preparing these trees, stands and accents. wish I could visit Toronto for the show!
Thanks so much Dave!! Your small Oaks are doing well still, we are getting down close to freezing at night now. I'll be protecting them in the heated greenhouse for the winter!
@@TheBonsaiZone so glad to hear the oaks are doing well. In my experience they can easily tolerate freezing temperatures, but here it never gets below about -5°c, so yes they're probably safest in your greenhouse.
I really like your final choice of stand. That tree has a combination of strong and delicate features and so does the stand. The oak table looked good, but it looked like a table, not a stand, per se. It didn’t spotlight the ficus (which is probably why you thought it needed another stand, lol!). That oak table will be tricky to pair with a single tree because it looks so good as a table - maybe put a black table cloth over your workbench and a white backdrop up to better mimic the show setting.
Thanks Nigel, great video showing how much planning really goes into each display. One day soon I'll have some show worthy trees and I can start this process.... Patience Ryan..... Patience.
Hi Nigel. I really enjoyed you looking at the various stand options, but I disagree about your choice of the maple stand. I find the warm orange tones clash with the green of the pot and the leaves, and the extra horizontal piece of wood on that stand seems a bit distracting to me. I think the tree looked wonderful on the large simple oak stand. I prefer the proportions, and the light grey colour of the oak complimented the tree so well, and as you mentioned, when the figure dries out and goes lighter, it will match very nicely.
Thanks Tony, I hope I can find a nice Chinese stand to match the pot, but at the moment I am limited with what I have! The Oak stand did look very good!!! I have another large stand from Matt, but he is working on it at the moment, I may be able to use that one! I really appreciate you opinion!!! Thanks!!
That's the beauty of bonsai Nigel. We all have different opinions especially when it comes to aesthetics. What nobody can argue about though is that the tree is stunning!
Wow! I love the way you show all the differences and explain/critique.... My favorite was the big stand with the two figurines, they have a subtle colour that matches that pot. I do understand why you didn't choose it. Great video!
I have to disagree with you on the stand to ficus. I think the stand you Picked out looking too flimsy. I really like the oak stand. It looks balanced and steady and i love how the ticknes from the plate on the stand is the same level as the pot front. And maybe if you plant som grass in the bowl for the littel budda the statue. It gives it a littel "wilder" look than the moss. And that again goes with tree. Just my thoughts. And I think the color of the pot goes good with the green pot.
the root-over-temple ficus would look better if you spent next year's growing just to let the branches run so that their thickness could come into proportion with the trunk's.

I think this tree is fantastic looking. Love the roots Love the branches. So thick. Love listening to you talk about what your doing and why ❤
Thanks Mary!!!
Beautiful n wonderful Ficus Benjamina Bonsai.
Good Job Sir.
Many many thanks!!
いい盆栽👍
Figurine nice with the moss. Both trees are cool. Tough decisions for stands. Very tight schedule. 10 days & counting.
Thanks Tom, yes, just a bit of refinement now!!
The small figurine works much better! The final stand is looking good as well.
Thanks Xin!!
What a beautiful F. benjamina
Thanks Vic, I love the trunk and roots, once I get the branches sorted out, I'll be so happy!!
Doing catch up. Cool miniature garden set. Will be good for one of your bigger bonsai trees.
Thanks Tom, something for the future!

Thanks Dylan, a bit more fine tuning and I'm ready for the show!!
I really love this ficus and this pot. Perfect for a show :) Some day I'll make the trip to toronto to see the exhibition
Thanks Karine!!! It would be nice meeting you!

Yes, it just takes time, study and dedication!!
Franken is looking great!
Thanks Dave, it's becoming a favorite of mine!!
You could put some seeds in the statue and have them sprout up instead of the moss, could give it some more interest
That's right, and peretinya we agree friends.
I'll add a plant for sure, I just have to find the right one!! Maybe a small flowering one!
@@TheBonsaiZone Yes, even though I'm small, I'm sure it will be special and hopefully it will thrive, sir.

Yes, they do match the pot really well, I hope to use them in the future!
your franken ficus impresses me morre and more every year :)
Thanks Lennart, it's making good progress!!!
Hey Nigel, what an impressive tree you've got there! Wish I could see them in real-life 🌳
Thanks, I think it has a lot of potential, it does need lots of refinement to get it better!!!!
@@TheBonsaiZone There is always something to improve isn't it? :D
I think the big oak stand would be better. The moss-bearing Buddha is great. The leggy stand is good but it's not right for the root-over-temple...
Thanks David, I have a few more stands coming, I'll try some new combinations!
You should try to bonsai Gynura aurantiaca, the plant would make a fantastical tree! 😍
Looks like a cool plant!!

Thanks Christopher, I have a few more stands coming, I may switch them if they looks better! I'll definitely add a little plant to the Buddha!!
Don't forget linseed on the little stand
As a former barber. I keep thinking your hair needs taking back with a good prune. Lol. Great video as always.
You're so skilled but modest.
Thanks Luigi, a weed whacker is in order I think!!
My Grandmother lived in Marrum - Friesland in the Netherlands
Close to Hallum ...
I got the name confused with the place!!!
Oh haha , i heard hallum and friesland
Hallum is a village in the province of friesland
Goodluck with the bonsai show !
hollum friesland is a place in the Netherlands. It might be a name from a person but I doubt it.
Holland, Friesland ^^
Whoops, I messed up, a correction will be coming!! Thanks!!

Thanks, it will definitely improve with age!!

Cutting or hunting?
both :D
Slightly Longer table for the bonsai stand would be my suggestion
Thanks Marcus!!!
hello Bonsai Zone!
Hello!!
Its a nice tree,But the color of the pot, makes the tree look pale.that strong color take over. I would change the pot .
Thanks Harriet, maybe for the next repotting!!
@@TheBonsaiZone Good luck with your beautiful trees in the show.🌳🌳🌳😍
