    Another good way to get great audio is to use a beachtec Mcc2 and plug two shotgun mics into it, then plug the out on the Beachtek into a recorder like a Zoom H1, then plug the H1 into the camera mic port. You are then using the Preamps of whatever recorder you are using. you can even record on the recorder for a backup, you will get two recordings, one on the camera, and one on the H1.

    Which lava mic did you use for this video? Sounds cool for TH-cam.

    Amazing Video - I just bought a Sennheiser MKH 416 from B&H and would like to know what you recommend! I'm using my Sony a7IV to shoot video and am debating if I should go the mixer route (XLR to mixer to camera) or maybe get a Zoom Handheld as an external recorder. Not sure, I also don't want to cut corners, I spent a pretty penny on that microphone and want to make sure I'm using the right set up to maximize that investment.

    Great video, shot well, & has me thinking on what I am going to be up against when I start pursuing quality filming. On another note, that is a very very beautiful woman in the back. Thanks for the tips.

    Hi! Thanks for great videos, keep up the good work.
    I want to shoot indoor TH-cam videos, won't be moving around. I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G80
    with a Røde VideoMic PRO. But want to switch to a lav mic. What lav mic should I go for? And should I do it with a Zoom H5 or Saramonic SmartRig+
    or Beachtek DXA Micro PRO?
    Sounds quality (without noice) is the priority but would love to not have to do anything in post (such as syncing the audio with the video).
    What is your opinion in this options or should I go with something else?

    • @BandH

      Here's a great microphone to pair with the BeachtekDXA-MICRO-PRO PLUS (BH #BEDXAMICROPP) :
      The black B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with Hardwired 3-Pin XLR Connector from Countryman (BH #COB3P4FF05B) is a water-resistant, miniature lavalier microphone for capturing high-quality audio. It can be used in a variety of applications such as a tie-clip lavalier in interviews, a hair-hidden mic for drama, a water-resistant mic for water sports and hurricane reporting, or simply a small mic to hide in a prop flower vase.
      The capsule is resistant to moisture, which allows for placement in the hair or on bare skin, and its omnidirectional polar pattern minimizes handling noise, wind noise, and plosives (popping). Furthermore, a variety of skin-matching colors are available. The B3's cable terminates to a 3-pin XLR connector for direct connection to a microphone preamplifier or a mixer. Additionally, a carrying case, two cable clips, a windscreen, and three protective caps are also included. bhpho.to/2KFTbSg >Mark

    what were the active mixers used in this video? im still a little confused, do they allow you to record with mic's that use XLR inputs directly into your camera? and also does this allow me to record both lav mics and boom mic into one mixer and directly into camera so i can avoid having to sync audio with video in post?

    If you are using a Zoom f8 field recorder on set would you connect it to the camera? Is it better to just sync the audio in post or is it the professional way to have that field recorder connect to the camera with cable or wireless? What is the best method?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no single best method and much depends on one's workflow and comfort level. Convenience counts, of couse, but wired is typically the best and most reliable connection. >Mark

    I want to record audio and video of nature at the same time, like a river and or forest scene. Best just to have seperate audio and video equipment and just start the recording at the same time?

    Hey, I bought the Zoom F4 and plugged a SMB7 mic into it (nothing else) and I only have found on the left channel of the WAV file...
    I guess it makes sense ONE mic ONE channel.
    But do I need to bring that WAV file into something like Logic Pro to balance the sound?
    Posted on F4 but no one seems to mold for sure all use multiple mics and mix... trying to KIS

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A single mono file is created for
      each mono track and a single stereo file is created for each stereo track. You should be able to easily double/copy and drag and drop the mono track so a L/R dual-mono channel is created. Or use this to split the SHURE SM7B's signal to two mic inputs on the ZOOM F4: Hosa Technology XLR Female to 2 XLR Male Y-Cable (6")
      B&H # HOYCXF2XM: bhpho.to/3zkvnvb >Mark<
      his Hosa 3-Pin XLR Female to 2 XLR Male Y-Cable features Hosa's metal XLR headshells. It can be used to split a single audio signal from an XLR output source (such as a microphone) into 2 separate audio channels.

      THAT’s WHAT I WUS LOOKING FOR!!!
      (Surprised no one suggested it in the Zoom F4 posts... but my use may be niche at this point ie just need one mic for narration) ordering now!
      Any idea what the settings should be for the F4 ie plugging into port 1 & 3 (as seems to be recommended) will it create - one - wave or - two - that have to be combined in software... like Logic Pro... or IS there a setting that will produce just - one - wave file right out of the recorder?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheGeoDaddy You will need to combine the tracks in your DAW or see page 26 of the Zoom F4 manual: "Linking inputs as a stereo pair" >Mark
