@@photogenius please answer is d3500 not good for a tripod, at 1.53 when you are recording video from a d3500 it was getting zoomed in zoomed out, and getting blurred, I was worried when I was shooting my d3500 on a tripod and the result was same. Do you have any solution for this how to make the camera stable.

We've all seen Hollywood use clapper boards/slates to sync sound and image. An easy way to do it yourself: several seconds before you start speaking, clap your hands in a way that will be easily seen by the camera, and will be clearly heard by your microphone. Then when editing, sync the sound of the clap with the motion.

I don't know if your lavallier was misplaced, but the sound was quite muffled. The best audio quality in this video was your voice overs.
Personally I use a semi- or professional digital recorder when using a lavallier. Sometimes I use the Hollyland LARK 150 wireless system that workss fine, even if it is not professional. Keep up the good work! ;-)

Thank you so much Paul. This video has help a lot. But I have a case here with me: i bought a new wireless microphone with a type C receiver connecting to a phone. It uses OTG system to receive the sound. I tried it with a voice recording and it picked up the sound from a far distance, but when using a video recording, the receiver doesn't pick up the sound. It just barely uses the internal mic from my phone in which the more I move away from the phone the worse the sound becomes. Please if there's any way you can help me with the explanation of that, I will appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Thanks a lot for a helpful video. I bought my camera for stills and now I'm thinking about using it for video I've realised it doesn't have a mic input. I'm thinking of making videos at home - mostly meditation & yoga, so I will be in one place without too much background noise. In this case, would it work to use my laptop to do the filming - using my DSLR as the camera (with an HDMI cable etc) and a USB mic plugged into my laptop? And then saving time having to sync the audio & video later?
This might seem like a really obvious set up or answer, this is all very new to me and I'm trying to work out the easiest & most cost effective way to get started before refining my product and possibly investing in better tech further down the line. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I have Nikon D750 and D5300. Can I use RODE smart LAV+ directly with the camera? I like to use wireless systems. Please let me know what are the exact attachments I have to purchase. I am a very senior citizen and can’t use Adobe. I want to take video and audio and use them in Facebook timeline.
    Thanks & Regards

The smartLav+ is designed to connect to smartphones, to connect to a camera you would have to use an adaptor. A better option for you would be the Lavalier GO : amzn.to/3zjSCVj
As long as your camera has a mic input in the side then this mic will work a treat.

Hi, for external recording can't you use your rode wireless go receiver without connecting it to the camera?
You will have to sinc the sound after with Adobe premiere but I thought the rode wireless go had some intern memory 🤔💭

Hello! I've been searching for an hour on youtube and finally find this very informative vid, thanks! However, I do have a question. With the Rode Video Go mic shown at 2:48, can you connect headphones to the receiver so that the camerman can hear what the person being recorded is saying? Example, if the person being recorded goes a good distance away, can the cameraman plug headphones into the receiver to be able to hear the person being recorded? Thank you!

    Hello 👋,
    Hope all is well!!
    I need some help!
I have a Canon EOS 4000D and it doesn’t have a mic input so I got a USB male 3.5mm female cable and I get to connect it. I turned the settings on the camera to manual and when I turn on the lavalier mic on and record and I put the headphones to see if the mics works and I can hear it loud and clear however when I put the SD card on my computer to make sure I can hear the recording with the lavalier mic voice recording , I only hear what the internal mic heard
How do I fix that? Hope that made sense

Hi Paul, please answer is d3500 not good for a tripod, 1.53 when you are recording video from a d3500 it was getting zoomed in zoomed out, and blurred, I was worried when I was shooting my d3500 on a tripod and the result was same. Do you have any solution for this to make the camera stable?.

A few years ago I did a very short couple of video clips with my Canon SL1. I had never done it before but I just flipped the switch up and hit the shutter button and it started recording. Thinking I might be interested in doing a little more I bought an extra external mic. Glanced at a couple of videos online to see what kind of Settings I should have for videos…Well now using the same camera and the same secure digital card that has been re-formatted, my video clip last 5 sec, !! What in the world have I done wrong? Some have said it’s the video card but it is the same video card that I used a couple of years ago with not a lot of use in between. I think I’m also using back button focus with this camera….Do you have any ideas? Always enjoy your videos of all of the cameras that you have demonstrated that I have.
