    Even the best rig for sheepshead won't help you catch them if you're fishing in the wrong spot, so if you want the best fishing spots, tips, and strategies, join us in the Insider Club here: bit.ly/2Sp3JIL

    I have been using this Knot and sinker method since I was 5 years old Joe. Once was very old is new once more to many. Thanks again

    I used that same rig when I was a kid about twelve , fishing for trout in the lake where I lived . Maybe the hook was a trifle bigger but then I would attach a whole night crawler to it through the collar of the worm and toss it out about thirty feet from the dock I fished on , leaving some slack in the line . When the Trout picked it up , you would see the line straighten out , then set the hook ,not to hard . It was a stocked lake so I kept the fish , they were very tasty . My father and I would eat them for breakfast, that was almost seventy years ago, how time goes by .

    Don't over squeeze that slipshot.... could damage your line.

    Surely you are talking about fish in less than 10 ft of water. Not even close to right for fish in 20-30 ft depths. Need more weight and use a slip sinker rig or drop shot rig with 1/2-3/4 ounces or more sinker weight based on current.

    I have the problem the sheep head won't to bite through my 5 Alt hook. I guess because they're 21 22 inch brewsers

    What if the tide is moving pretty good around the pilings?

      Andrew Seeker use a bigger split shot to
      Compensate.

    Tony, thanks for this video. I've never caught a sheep's head but then I don't really target fish. How do you put the fiddler crab on the hook?

    I just did a video with this as one of my top 3 ways to catch sheepshead! I always have a rod set up with a split shot! Great video 🤙

      Yes sir! Have you tried the bottom sweeper jigs? I just uploaded a video on them! They increased my hookup ratio when missing fish!

    What strength test do you use on your reel?
    I'm new to salt water fishing. Long long time fly fishing in Rockies where we use 3 lb leader...

    • @tonyacevedo3149
      @tonyacevedo3149 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the type of area. If I’m fishing socks and structure i like to go with 20lb braid and use 25 to 30lb leader.

    • @hardrockminer-50

      Wow. Just seems bassackwardsto have leader stronger than main line.
      Because the leader takes the abuse of rocks etc?

      Clyde Peppin yes the leader for inshore has multiple purposes. Abrasion resistance is a big benefit. It also acts as a shock absorber when using braided fishing line, since braid has zero stretch. In very clear water if targeting certain species in open water, lighter leader is more beneficial for stealth.

    Is it bad to keep reusing the split shot

    How does this rig fare in heavier current?

    • @jckdnls9292
      @jckdnls9292 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flies like a kite

    • @chrisjones720
      @chrisjones720 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just use a heavier split shot, easier to adjust and less time consuming using a egg sinker. I only use split shots when fishing inshore
