3:31 I’ve said it a hundred times: CIG sells this *game* as “playable now.” It’s on every patch trailer. They do not sell it as “testable now.” The live patch needs to be playable.
Are you being serious? If so I will assume you are new to the game. There are many problems that they have fixes. As buggy and laggy as it is now at least there is playable gameplay. I remember when they first introduced FPS combat the desync was so bad you rarely saw what killed you. Desync is still a thing but nowhere as bad or common as it used to be. Bed logging is now a thing and server recovery is also a thing. There are still things they should have taken care of long ago but to say the all the bugs that are in the game have always been there is extremely dishonest.
@rorymcgregor625 While it may not be accurate to say no bugs have ever been fixed, they ha e. However, for every one bug they fix, there are generally 2-3 more that have gone unfixed. Despite your claims the game is a buggy desync lag fest, it always has been and probably always will be. In typical CIG fashion they will rush 4.0 out full of bugs and balance issues. It very well might ruin the entire project. Many, many backers are fed up with the gaslighting, marketing, and blatant lies. It is time to put up or shut up, and I just don't think CIG has what it takes to put there nose to the grindstone and do it right.
I find some of the problem is commentors. This guy hit it on the nose "for the love of god, make sure i can at least get in and fly my ship". Another commentor was saying "maybe make it so that smaller backpacks can only carry stuff of the length of that particular backpack, cause some are smaller than the 19 unit bla bla". These people need to be silenced until recoverable gameplay is achieved, or RSI management needs to learn to ignore them.
Yup, I've been saying this on the forums at times for the last couple years. People create a huge stink over things that CIG goes back and wastes more time changing those things. Let's get a stable game before we nitpick everything to death. Everything can and will change, even after release. All these youtubers confound the problem with constant whining about the latest changes and CIG feels obligated to make those changes, thinking that most of the players care about it.
Like some people who said the ship claim's nerf wasn't enough you shouldn't even get fuel with it! GG for someone who just bought the game and got started and lost their ship due to a bug till no more money and then you can't even fly your ship or Play the game
Transit refactor was one of the big things that got taken out of 4.0 for a 4.x build so elevators are still going to be a problem even if they iron out 4.0 to perfection. It's why they are currently testing people just spawning straight into their hangars on the EPTU currently. They know how much of an issue it's going to be. They will 100% push to open PTU before the holidays and unless they have some major updates that they are not talking about to add in last minute, that is where the build will stay. They cannot afford to drop another 3.18 to LIVE, this build has to work.
Please don't rush this out CIG lets get it into phase 3 by christmas and keep it there until problems are solved so we can all enjoy it but also have a "playable" PU.
they've already said shooting for OPEN PTU this weekend. Doesn't matter if they wait 2 weeks or 2 months it will fall apart on launch day. Just like every other patch before it lol
@@TylerSL92 Then just play on LIVE! Open "testing", i think it´s a perfect Christmas treat for me later next week. I´ve Never seen Pyro IRG. (It needs to be somewhat playble/testible ofcourse.) If someone ever said that RSI PUSHING 4.0 LIVE before next year, they are idiots
There's no point in not putting it in open ptu for longer other then to milk subscribers money, if you want the patch to be ready asap we need to have the ptu in open now.
I've seen dozens of comments saying CIG wouldn't ever get as far as a working mesh and a working jump point, yet look where they've gotten. I have faith in these guys. There will be bugs...no game developer in the world could prevent that in a project of this scale...but I don't agree that nothing will work at all. I fully expect to be successfully traversing star systems and doing missions and industrial jobs in both Pyro and Stanton in the same session. Perhaps not 100% of the attempts, but a lot of them.
Are you thinking about 4.0 LIVE or 4.0 testpatch "for everyone" this year? If they "PUSH" 4.0 LIVE before testing at large scale, it´s like the 3.18 fuckup, but at the same time that noone works on fixing the bugs. (Christmas) They are not THAT stupid! I really hope for a "4.0 all backers testbuilt" later next week. After New Year they then have Loads of more data to hotfix, before 4.0 LIVE.
What they don't understand is dropping 4.0 as a buggy mess will do more harm than good, possibly kill off the project entirely. I played 4.0 today, I couldn't open starting hab door, bad performance, jumpgate music didn't kick in til halfway through and after docking in Pyro hangar the hangar immediately despawned and left me floating in an empty prison. I logged off, it needs more time to cook, I haven't been able to test a single gameloop in Pyro yet because a blocking bug occured every time.
I just wrote a post say pretty much what you just said here! I believe so too that if they release a buggy mess for 4.0 that it could be the beginning of the end of the project!
I just started playing earlier this year but 3.24 I’ve only been able to put a handful of hours into because of game breaking bugs and you’re telling me that there was a patch worse than that?
I started playing about a month ago. The issues I had the first day: door would not open to my hab, tram would not arrive, elevator to hanger would not work, could not spawn a ship (all displays on a loading screen), once in the hanger I stored and tried to recall my vehicle and it stayed stuck under the elevator, I fell through the landing pad and once I got in the ship there was an issue where only some pieces of the hanger door would open trapping me in the hanger. The second day I had a new list as long as the above only different. The first week I ended broke, without any kind of armor or weapons, server hoping just praying I could finish a mission and collect enough for a helmet and a backpack. I suspect a huge majority of new players would walk away day 1. This is the current live experience. I vote for 4.0 bugs and all. The current build is not a clean experience anyway and everything I do now has a wipe hanging over it.
I saw some skins on the main website, I was almost tempted thinking I don’t want to miss these. But then I remember the game is a bag of sh1t. You only get one life people, don’t spend it falling through planets and waiting for elevators. This mess doesn’t deserve your precious free time, it’s more valuable than money. Cig only gets my time when they earn it.
The issue is the spaghetti code. It's like trying to build a house on a foundation of sand. We've had the same game breaking bugs pop up every single major patch. Instead of getting things working for a specific patch, CIG needs to spend the time to completely rewrite the broken code.
Convincing MBA's to let IT fix their shit is impossible, and executives from any company don't listen to IT because they're all MBA's too, I say this from experience . . .
The time for that has long passed. They don't have the time or money to do a full rewrite. If they did that now, the investors that have redemption options next year will 100% pull their money out, and since CIG doesn't have that kinda cash on hand, it would mean a complete company shutdown.
Hey there! this is Sam Tucker from CIG, im afraid our past devs are to blame for the game taking this long to release, im afraid we are going to have rewrite the entire base code to UE5 so lets put 2035 as the target. Thank you all fans.
Armchair devs with all the negative assumptions in the world and the only evidence to back it up is bugs that occur when groundbreaking tech is introduced. 3.18's persistence mahem = spaghetti code 3.24's cargo patch bugs = spaghetti code 4.0's server meshing and jump point bugs = spaghetti code What's really bothersome to people looking at the project from the optimistic side is that when they actually fix massive bugs like we saw after 3.18, it's not looked at as them "fixing their spaghetti code"?! It's so easy to say some blanket statement about how bad they are at coding but never any praise when they literally prove to the world that they understand how to fix bad code and write brand new technology.
@@BradAhrensthere is a reason no one in the industry used this game engine, but hey you know best and so does a company thats never made a game and already been in multiple lawsuits.
The same rule applies in Pyro as it did in Stanton. IF you have the opportunity to to get off the main LZ take it. And make for a destination that allows you to set a rez point, like getting out of say Area18, and setting your rez on the LEO Bajini Point Station. So in Pyro, if the LZ is say Obituary, then go to someplace like Starlight Express Lagrange Point Station and set your rez there. That way you escape most of the problems of getting into the game.
In today’s patch, I was setting up my ship in my hangar. Once I got all my ships out, I got on a pulse, moved it to a space in the hangar, turned it off, then got off… then I floated up to the roof of the hangar and fell to my death. We are weeks away from stable.
Genuinely hoping they don't pull the usual holiday move, and just get a decent 4.0 into PTU, and then come back around after break to push it live once they've gathered a decent amount of data from the length of the test. EPTU yesterday before the "broken" patch for testing the new network optimizations? Was absolutely insane. I was on shard 140, and there were 470 players on, sFPS was locked at 30, everything was HYPER responsive (ASOP's responded IMMEDIATELY, cargo wasn't janking around when snapping to grid, bunker missions were intense and NPC's were trying to flank, NB tram STAYED ON THE GODDAMN RAIL). Usually PTU always performs better, but it also has decidedly less players. Yesterday had more players on the shard I was on than has ever been on live, and it was holding strong up until the patch went live last night. 3 hours of unbroken, unjank Star Citizen had me feeling spoiled. They're making some genuine progress, this past week. Another month of it in the oven could be something absolutely magical, when pushed to live. They just need to forego the pressure/want to push to live this month. 4.0, even for all the features we lost, could be *the* Star Citizen patch, when it comes to gameplay performance. Once we get that in a decent state, then the gameplay push can start really moving.
Its hard to say this patch is a massive step forward until we see how it performs on the Live Servers. If the servers melt and the issues stack up to the point where its unplayable, it doesn't matter what features are included its a massive step backwards. Think of the amazing publicity it will get after CIG's road to pyro took a few more years than expected and its a buggy unplayable mess.
Its funny that I mentioned on Reddit that I logged in and could not get out of bed. Tried to log in to US/EU/AUS all the same. I was told "Not a valid complaint, this has already been fixed". Copium is strong.
It's almost like they don't play their own game for testing. Dear CIG try this: "Jump in to the game with a few friends that aren't devs this weekend, if you have a good time and manage to keep most people playing the next weekend after, you can release the patch" This should always be your measure if something is in a state to release onto live; would me and my friends play this, this weekend. If answer is no, you as a game developer should not push that through.
The other day, Mike mentioned how a lot of backers dont play actively and are on the sidelines waiting for improved performance and QOL features. I haven't played since 3.16, with the promise of 4.0 coming soon, for 2+ years. Im excited about the new system but also worried about how it seems the game hasnt changed much from an MMO completion standpoint
100 % 4.0 Needs to be polished over fast. 1 prefer to have a care that brings me to place safe then fast. Maybe make a new 3.24.x Patch for a sale with some quality of life fixes. Like spawning people in their hangar. If that is possible without the 4.0 framework and leave the rest cook for a bit longer. Got friends that bought the game and then wanted to play for the first time and just couldn't get to their hangar on microtech. They did quit faster the game as you could see. Net one wanted to salvage was using vulcan and saw me doing salvage using direct x 11 we got 2 different experiences. Doing salvage with vulcan is way slower and visualy different.
We can't trust CIG to give us what we paid for. Ships are sold to us, only to be nerfed in time for the replacement ship sale. I expect 4.0 to be a dumpster fire.
They never should have even considered releasing 4.0 without the transit system rework. It's been broken for a while and they didn't fix it because they promised 4.0 would fix it, then they say, 4.0 but without the fix, so it's even more broken and it's fundamentally one of the most important aspects of the game since you have to use it multiple times to get from your starting location to a ship. Hab to elevator, train to spaceport, elevator to hanger area, elevator to specific hangar. In pretty much every starting location you need to use the transit system 4 times before you see the inside of a spaceship and any one of those could be broken at any time.
Yeah, it was a good patch because they spent a full year working on that branch, which resulted in one of the most stable builds we've had. This is why they need to get feature complete for 1.0 so they can work on all the tech debt they've accumulated and actually fix bugs. That's never going to happen in this Alpha state.
its definitely the higher ups that keep pushing this stuff out regardless of if its ready. I wonder if there is some mandate that they have to push this stuff out because it makes no sense stepping on customer toes for no reason
The new Miria Guardian is tied to this patch. They will push the patch out in an unplayable state so they can sell a ship last minute to bolster their sales. Then go on holiday
I made a thread called " Star Citizen Alpha 4.0 Release Date " on Spectrum that goes over the whole 4.0 release and what CIG should do (but wont) back on the 7th.
I don't understand how elevators, trams, and hangers are still broken 10 years later. It really does not matter how amazing the tech is, what's happening in a background. To the VAST majority of people, a door is the mostly simple object they interact with day to day. It should work, every. single. time. without fail. They will see it as a major failing every time it doesn't work. "haha CIG cant even make two doors open so I can leave" all the way to "Just delete the hanger doors so we can come and go whenever" Their focus should be entirely on making what currently exists work, at least 90% of the time. Before they do anything else, release any other content.
If they crater the 4.0 release it would be completely on brand. We all know they will push 4.0 out the door so they can claim they met their goal and also do a 4.0 ship sale. Doesn't matter how good it is they will still push it.
4.0 and Static Server Meshing, while complex, build upon well-understood principles and existing technologies. The heavy lifting lies in the groundwork already laid by earlier patches (e.g., PES and OCS). The real challenge lies ahead in making DSM function seamlessly, a problem that will require breakthroughs in predictive modeling, dynamic resource allocation, and distributed systems management. While the community perceives 4.0 as the "hard part," developers understand that it's an iterative step, not a monumental leap.
Very well said. I don't think that DSM is that far off, the parallelisation of entity streaming to servers based on predictive player pooling requires a hybrid service that can handle all of that, and it sounds like they have already started working on such a service. They just want static server meshing working stable first before further testing DSM.
Every time they patch, it's a mess. Ask for help and you get the copy and paste response to the issue council. You go to the issue council and you see your issue is marked solved and archived lol
made a pretty popular post on spectrum about it a couple of weeks ago. 100% still think CIG are gonna do what they always do, drop to live before holidays, and then let the serverroom and engine burn for 3 weeks before it becomes almost playable.
Transport refactor should have always been a priority. If elevators and trams are broken the game is unplayable. It makes no sense why they said they would ship 4.0 without it.
I think one of the better ways of saying it: Game Ruining - Desync, fall through planet occasionally etc. Game Breaking - unable to progress, log in and/or unable to get out of hangar.
9:11 Well as I stated I got no problems waiting for another 3-6 months if it means a solid 4.0 experience with minimal bugs -- I mean how about CGI shows us that they CAN give us a AAA experience without a multitude of severe bugs! - This would go very far to show people/users that this game is going to be finished with a stable environment that works 100% .. because as of now they have not proven this! All we have seen over the years is constante bugs and the return of the same bugs over and over!!! this does NOT build confidence in the eyes of players and potential new users in the project!
Keeping with dumpster fire tradition, 4.0 needs to go live a day or two before X-mas in a broken state and it won't get fixed for several weeks when CIG returns to the office after the holidays.
I have a good chunk of friends who have been waiting for 4.0 to properly get into the game because they do not want to deal with the current performance issues. So if 4.0 flops it will be a while until players like that swipe any card. You got this CIG
Example. Look at the Polaris. They released it too soon, because John crew said it would release; not because it was ready. The exterior is amazing, but the interior, lacks signage, the Captain's quarters wasn't (and still isn't) worth waiting for, the interior colors are essentially 4-5 shades of gray, the crew quarters were simplified, the mess hall has been watered down, the armory is the worst one in any large ship, no quarters for the second in command, as the brochure indicates; and all of this, and more, could have been avoided, if they just waited until it was actually ready, rather than having interns do a rush job. So now, a ship that thousands purchased, in good faith, while functionally O.K., is quite underwhelming in terms of interior design. Gold standard pass... when? 4.0 NEEDS to be Amazing!
I think they already gutted 4.0 so much that if they fail to deliver it by christmas the disappointment in general will bit much bigger then if they deliver a broken patch like usual
as a dev for a different mmo this my observation - the elevator code is so deep it would need to be rewritten which i assume is wrapped in a mess of dependencies/variables so many years old and no one knows how to fix it without rewriting the entire code base which will never happen
As soon as saltemike says don't fuck it up... "Hey Team what if we fucked up the 4.0 Launch To meet a sales deadline" Chriss roberts likely December 2024
The problem I have is that things are never really fixed. Falling through the planet or messed up elevators has been happening on and off for years. 30ks, although less now, have been going on and off for years. Mining issues have been going on and off for years. Thats why people leave and come back. They are looking to 4.0 to fix whatever problem(s) they saw before. If 4.0 doesn't make a good impression, people are going to leave again until at least 1.0 and CIG can't afford that since it is so far off. They really need to make things work for this release, even if it means waiting a bit.
Yes, Elite is absolutely making moves. Four new ships this year (as of tomorrow), the Thargoid war is finishing up after the bugs invaded Sol, PowerPlay got a rework (which is overall good, not great but a definite improvement on the previous version), and the next major update will have system colonization - not just a plot of land, a whole star system (which is easy to do when you simulate over 400 million systems, lol). We just had to wait on Frontier's incubator to fail so that they could put their attention back on their core franchises. Elite is great again. I wasted $3k on SC, and I cannot recommend playing Elite over SC highly enough.
I’ve only been able to play 3.24 for a handful of hours due to bugs, so here’s a small list of things I’d like to see in 4.0 doors that work, elevators that work, not falling through a planet, and not being suffocated by my own damn helmet!
Quick hint for you guys. If they release 4.0 rather sooner then later - it’s better because if it’s in everyone’s hands on live servers they can fix it better. Regardless of on evo etc. They have to launch it so they can test and iterate further.
Forget about these suggested 2 months. Because it will only be 1 month in the end. CIG will go on long vacation from December 23, 2024. My daily impression of the PTU and my feeling say that the PTU will go live in 2024 and I'm totaly fine with it. It is also questionable whether there are really that many players online in the game over the holidays. Thank you for this video, saltemike! ❤
Berk and mike the are absolutely right. If CIG launches 4.0 in the state they have released other patches in they will kill all hopes of building hype or good will with the community. A bad launch state will create countless videos of mainstream streamers and content creators trashing the game and the company nit to mention continuingto perpetuate the stereotypes and stigmas associated with the game and its development. . A broken 4.0 launch will be detrimental to the financial future of the game.
Yeah, when they said this patch was going to be spicy i knew we were getting this patch pushed by winter break whether its ready or not. While this may be disappointing for people in the live environment, i hope this proves a resolve to focus on developing the game and treating the PU for what it is. A demo for gathering data to push development forward. I could care less about stability and bug fixes if systems are implemented at a accelerated rate.
Annoying for the live environment how? All of the bugs in 4.0 are WORSE in the current live build, and in many ways it's unplayable for some people due to desync, elevators, and hangar issues. 4.0 has far fewer issues than the current live build.
@Billy-bc8pk I never said it was annoying. And you're statement is largely based on your own experience, not the groups experience. I'm just commenting on how the devs themselves have pushed their 4.0 patch that says in the patch notes hangers have a 50% chance of not spawning in locations and people inventorys are inaccessible with complete reproducability. All this for the sake of testing a fix the meshing team wanted to put out to the wave 2 build.
@@joshua41175 Yes, they pused a single PTU patch that was purposely broken to test backend fixes and then pushed the patch today, which resolved those issues and is extremely stable -- so much so that they're about to open it up to all waves if it holds stability for a few hours.
I have been fuckin soft locked in game twice this year and hard locked once Hard lock- surrendered at grim hex somehow bugged my game so bad it wouldn’t even load even after reinstalling the game. Was told by cig to wait for next patch the issue will be fixed 2 soft locks. First time the landing pad in my hangar wouldn’t work so I couldn’t call a ship to leave NB. So I’d have to hope that there was someone to take me to a port center to reset my spawn but if I set my spawn on say an ursa and it got destroyed well back to square 1 2nd time now not only does my hangar not work but the elavator won’t even take me to my hangar and if I fly to NB the hangar doors won’t open. Idc if it’s in alpha this game is like 13 years old and there is still no solid foundation there is still no explanation on how the basics of the game will work bed logging insurance everything. If I have to wait till next patch to play well I’ll wait for the game to leave alpha before I by
The ideal scenario (that will never happen): 4.0 works well in live, everyone’s happy, I get a girlfriend and my dog comes back to life. The ideal (but realistic scenario, that still probably won’t happen): we get 4.0 PTU all waves and leave a good build for the rest of the year. Even if it’s broken down the line, we have PTU workarounds and live to “fall back” to, and we get a lot of people and CIG gets a lot of data from holiday season to fix for live. What will probably happen: 4.0 will hit live right before holidays, it crashes and burns 24 hours later and the holidays are a recreation of that community worst timeline meme.
Real double edged sword here. if they don't deliver 4.0 before end of year, they will be heavily criticized. If they release 4.0 by end of year but it's a hot mess, they will be heavily criticized. If only we lived in an ideal world where they somehow managed to release 4.0 on time AND in a stable state.
to be fair they've had since 2016 to complete this assignment and decided to shift focus and assets to SQ42 instead, which also looks and runs like hot dogshit almost a decade after its initial release window announced by the company. Small underfunded indie studio, pls be patient.
thats what happens when you make promises WITHOUT actually doing the testing......... not like Chris didnt hype 4.0 to be done in 12 months when CIG hadnt even started testing the concept lmfao
@@OGShively "sq42 looks like dogshit" did we watch the same game? it looks nuts and above most things released in recent memory, only thing I can think of that tops it is probably cyberpunk
I'm glad to hear about all the extra stuff they are adding instead of concentrating on stability. Do you think when 4.0 goes to live it will be with a xenothreat.
He's absolutely right. I stopped playing about 4 months ago, and am waiting for 4.0 before I consider coming back and making SC my main game again. If it launches and has a ton of problems, I'll be gone a loooong time before I return. SC will get uninstalled from my machine, and until I hear great things, it won't come back. So get it right, guys.
I honestly don't see it being released until March. Anything before that will be the soup sandwich of a lifetime and there isn't really anything in the patch of note that should've been released in 2020ish.

There's no point in not putting it in open ptu for longer other then to milk subscribers money, if you want the patch to be ready asap we need to have the ptu in open now.
Let's get it on PTU first of all, it's still in ePTU. A wave one player like me still can't play it.
It's honestly just as broken as the live build I'll take broken 4.0 over what we got now. At least there will be new content that might work.
If you can't blind them with brilliance....sucker them with new ship sales!
4.0 will be broken as fuck. Don't expect anything to work at all.
I expected it to be a lot worse, but yeah it’s rough especially for being so late
It’s going to be busted as usual.. I’ve learned to keep my expectations so low
Judging solely based off of past releases, I would agree with this statement.
(Christmas)
They are not THAT stupid!
I sense 3.18 all over again.
I just started playing earlier this year but 3.24 I’ve only been able to put a handful of hours into because of game breaking bugs and you’re telling me that there was a patch worse than that?
3.18 despite being bad, was a honest mistake. It ran well on PTU but crumbled on the full weight of LIVE. Current PTU is known to be bad.
4.0 is following the same road as 3.18, constant almost daily patches in ptu with full LTP wipes between each patch etc not letting the database build
If they push to live we need nightly server reboots to help with stability over time.
That does sound like past few years
I saw some skins on the main website, I was almost tempted thinking I don’t want to miss these.
3.18's persistence mahem = spaghetti code
3.24's cargo patch bugs = spaghetti code
4.0's server meshing and jump point bugs = spaghetti code
What's really bothersome to people looking at the project from the optimistic side is that when they actually fix massive bugs like we saw after 3.18, it's not looked at as them "fixing their spaghetti code"?!
That way you escape most of the problems of getting into the game.
woah someone that knows how to play the game. Hopefully we won't have to do this at some point but its always the first thing I do on a new patch.
6:32 I like the guy whose forum avatar is full clown pepe with "master mode" lmao
there are quite a few people who have that avatar nowadays xd
In today’s patch, I was setting up my ship in my hangar. Once I got all my ships out, I got on a pulse, moved it to a space in the hangar, turned it off, then got off… then I floated up to the roof of the hangar and fell to my death.
We are weeks away from stable.
They're not gonna delay. They gotta close the Q4 and the FY24 books.
Joyfully awaiting the inevitable dumpster fire this turns into. Popcorn ready.
Why not just restart the servers every 24 h? i dont care about the long persistens.. they can add that when they can handle it.
At this point in all for this!!!!
Schedule it once a week on a Sunday night at 24h00 PST Monday 8am UTC
I worry that they will try to push it. My guess is that we get to Open PTU and stay there until January.
And that's the right way to go, leave this in PTU until it's ready . . .
The Sale has to happen, it will drop in 2 weeks.
The Store is ALL they care about.
Have I got some news for you :(
Its hard to say this patch is a massive step forward until we see how it performs on the Live Servers.
Zero issues getting out of bed on live for me.
Noticed vpns cause this issue
It's almost like they don't play their own game for testing.
Dear CIG try this: "Jump in to the game with a few friends that aren't devs this weekend, if you have a good time and manage to keep most people playing the next weekend after, you can release the patch"
This should always be your measure if something is in a state to release onto live; would me and my friends play this, this weekend.
Elite Dangerous is really fun!
BRING BACK BUG SMASHERS !!!!!!
There is only one 4.0 launch:
** 4.01 has entered the chat **
Every single December the same thing happens, a broken patch.. I just wanna see how much the guardian is gonna cost
Yup warming up a run at X4...
Chris' yes men will just tell him that it was the economy...inflation. People don't have as much to spend on games. They WILL NOT see the main reason.
To my understanding, 4.0 was going to be when these systems worked, not a patch where they forced all these in and hoped for the best.
Elevators were working really well last night in Pyro.
To be blunt, if they're so strapped on cash that they can't float the studio for 2 months, this project is completely screwed :(
Nobody from CIG has said that's the case, so...
@@XShadowAngelI'd stay quiet too if I wanted to keep my job
Attracting top talent requires a lot of money I hear.
@@4tonmike considering that they landed 100 million they won't be running out of money for a while
this project is completely screwed
Nothing will prevent CIG from being CIG. So expect the worst!
3.17 patch was the best ever for me when everything was working smoothly and I get a lot of fun after that I never had so good experience
So much promise then. They had serious momentum, but sure seemed to have squandered it.
True
Yeah, it was a good patch because they spent a full year working on that branch, which resulted in one of the most stable builds we've had. This is why they need to get feature complete for 1.0 so they can work on all the tech debt they've accumulated and actually fix bugs. That's never going to happen in this Alpha state.
I’m at the point I dont blame the devs at all.. this is hard to accomplish..but the problem is ,I believe starts with Chris and his lack of management
its definitely the higher ups that keep pushing this stuff out regardless of if its ready.
"haha CIG cant even make two doors open so I can leave" all the way to "Just delete the hanger doors so we can come and go whenever"
Their focus should be entirely on making what currently exists work, at least 90% of the time. Before they do anything else, release any other content.
We all know Chris won't let them hold it back and fix things. We're going to have an even worse 3.18 on our hands.
it's already better than 3.18 was, so no, only thing that could crumble it is load from LIVE but that's nothing that they can effectively predict
this
CIG will be the Grinch that ruined Christmas
If they crater the 4.0 release it would be completely on brand.
We all know they will push 4.0 out the door so they can claim they met their goal and also do a 4.0 ship sale. Doesn't matter how good it is they will still push it.
One of the long comments that referenced back to their own post(captainkillgore) also had a pretty good take.
Transit refactor had to be there. It was more needed than Pyro.
@@Billy-bc8pkDSM isn't anywhere close to release
@@T51B1 People were saying the same thing about static server meshing this year.
@@T51B1 SM isn't anywhere close to release
CIG will force it out. Maybe by Invictus they’ll get it working in a playable way.
Every time they patch, it's a mess. Ask for help and you get the copy and paste response to the issue council. You go to the issue council and you see your issue is marked solved and archived lol
made a pretty popular post on spectrum about it a couple of weeks ago. 100% still think CIG are gonna do what they always do, drop to live before holidays, and then let the serverroom and engine burn for 3 weeks before it becomes almost playable.
good post Berks and take on the situation.
Playing Star Citizen IS a game breaking experience.
Transport refactor should have always been a priority. If elevators and trams are broken the game is unplayable. It makes no sense why they said they would ship 4.0 without it.
I think one of the better ways of saying it:
Game Ruining - Desync, fall through planet occasionally etc.
Personal Elevators (that work) Coming to the CIG store *soon*
I have a good chunk of friends who have been waiting for 4.0 to properly get into the game because they do not want to deal with the current performance issues. So if 4.0 flops it will be a while until players like that swipe any card. You got this CIG
As it sits right now I can't even log into live right now with all the lag, I don't know what they did but the lag is unplayable.
Funny how people think CIG will just magically change for one update. The same people will cry if the patch gets pushed or if it releases tomorrow.
Another reason they lost money this year is because they lost a lot of really good developers because they wanted everyone to move to Manchester
They've made over $107 million this year, more than every year except the last two.
Ha ha the fake surprise laugh at that meme then as he was about to give it a like said he already liked it.😂
at this point if they waited 2 months, no progress will be made regardless, they are on holiday break until feb. or so
Logging in to play to see if you can play that day. Pretty much what I do already.
Wait two months to get transit refactor in things stable keep it in open PTU for testing would be the best play imo
yeah, they need the transit refactor, else it's not gonna look too good
Berk and mike the are absolutely right.
Man I was constantly trying to remove that white hair from my phone.
It was a cable on your couch being visible when you twist your chair.
Been here since 3.16...... HOLD THE PATCH
Also.... "There's only one 1.0 Launch" too Mike....
I didn't know Snoop Dogg played SC.
Excellent
Time to wait another year to play again. See ya folks!
You already know they will fuck this up.
Just to push the Guardian sale 😅
@@joshua41175 Yes, they broke some things to fix others. The issues are resolved in the current patch.
I have been fuckin soft locked in game twice this year and hard locked once
Hard lock- surrendered at grim hex somehow bugged my game so bad it wouldn’t even load even after reinstalling the game. Was told by cig to wait for next patch the issue will be fixed
2 soft locks. First time the landing pad in my hangar wouldn’t work so I couldn’t call a ship to leave NB. So I’d have to hope that there was someone to take me to a port center to reset my spawn but if I set my spawn on say an ursa and it got destroyed well back to square 1
2nd time now not only does my hangar not work but the elavator won’t even take me to my hangar and if I fly to NB the hangar doors won’t open.
They will get GOOD testing in PU over the Christmas break.
EVERYONE will have time off.
They are releasing it. The PU is just a test bed too.
could still happen
thats what happens when you make promises WITHOUT actually doing the testing......... not like Chris didnt hype 4.0 to be done in 12 months when CIG hadnt even started testing the concept lmfao

I am waiting for 4.0 personally, but I liked what Berks said
Space Tarkov with 40 minute prep with the potential to lose everything in seconds. Good Luck CIG.
This will go the way of the 3.18 patch. I'm currently lockout from playing at all due to 15000 error.
We've been waiting 5-7 years, what's another few months or years between fellow Roadmap Watchers?
I honestly don't see it being released until March. Anything before that will be the soup sandwich of a lifetime and there isn't really anything in the patch of note that should've been released in 2020ish.
They need to give a week buffer for live transition and a x patch
