If you’re playing as a (human) female archer, you can buy the “Rangers Vest” and napped leather boots, and that will be considered “formal rainment”, for the masquerade. It will also be suitable for later parts of the game when formal rainment is required. I don’t know if it’s available for men or beastrens. The vest costs $7000 gold, but still cheaper than buying the courtly attire.
For anyone reading this wondering why won't the door in the secret room work? Simple, you're not actually at a masquerade, they happen at night, but not every night, if you're wearing the proper attire, mask, pants, torso pieces there will be an achievement for first time you attent the masquerade, if that happens the door should be open 🍻
For those of you that sold the tunic. You can find a second set inside the ball area in one of the rooms at the back in a chest. Granted you might have to sneak in though. I got it after already wearing the first set so i can't really give info on how to sneak in if they do not let you in.
Thank you! This saved me. But I didn't sneak past any guards. I literally exited the tower with the ballroom, jumped from the wall on the southern side of Vernworth, and onto a balcony to where the brothel is. THEN I was finally able to progress the story.
Aint no way there was a secret door i found a normal open door, wandered around the castle for like half an hour till i reached the cut scene place, crazy. Nice job btw it helped me on my second playtrouhh

When i go at nigjt a guard just tells me theres no party and thats it. Nobody is in there and that door with the designs on it is locked. Been trying for like an hour now, reloading game and spending many differnt nights and nothint is happening
mine is bugged i dont know, i have all the clothes and everything but brant dont let me choose if i'm ready (for the incoronation quest and i have done all his previous quests), he give me only the first 2 line of the speech and doesnt ask me if i am ready or not....anyone has some tips?
My favourite part was when my character threw himself off the castle wall randomly as i was running down to the rose house. He just suddenly veered left and mantled himself into oblivion with no input from me. The merchant next to the armour merchant sells the clothes but they cost 300k for the pair. Or if you bought Sven the ornate box he gives you the clothes as a gift when talking to him at the fountain.
WARNING! If you go to the brothal before doing this quest it will glich out - I was still able to complete it but it skipped everything before the cut scene

I keep getting attacked as soon as the cut scene begins. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I’m wearing the formal clothes, I’m wearing the mask but every time I walk in the cutscene begins and before it’s over they start attacking me. I’m thinking it may be some type of glitch cause I’ve had some weird stuff happen like an ogre attack us out of nowhere in the middle of the market and another time where people in the slums just started fighting us for no reason
For those who get attacked at the door. First talk to the guard before entering, if he tells you tonight isn't the masquerade, you'll get attacked. Come back some other night.
Needed this cuz I paused during the cutscene which apparently skips it. Had know clue that the cutscene was so important (didnt intend to skip) and was completely lost as I unpaused and everyone was leaving the building lol
The first time I did this quest, I thought I was supposed to LITERALLY approach the false sovran. That’s what I did. Unfortunately, I had to watch one of these videos to figure out how to do this, because this game offers no help on how to do some of these quests.
The old magistrate told me to get his spectacles during the ball. Dunno where it is yet but i think it's another side quest you can tie in with this quest.
Another tunic location is at Allard or something. At his house in noble area there are both set you need. I sold mine outfits and had to look around to get a new set.
OK for anyone else who got attacked by the guards anytime they walked in I went to the house I purchased in town slept two nights in a row and went back and didn’t get attacked. Walked to the back when in the secret door and got the cut scene for the quest to continue so don’t lose hope.
If you are still having issues have on the courtly tunic and breeches with the eventide mask just in case. After that wait until nightfall enter back into the building if the ball is going on you should be able to go through the secret door.
There’s no cut scene at 2:21 like you showed. I walk in there’s a ball going on but nothing like that happens. I just wander around talking a random Guests and there’s no secret door either
I also didn't get a cut scene showing someone sneaking down the side path. I can go into the secret room, but the door after that is locked for me. I seem to have progressed the quest as the objective marker on the map is no longer the ballroom. Instead it's an area behind that secret room, which I can't access. 🙁
If the door is locked like it was for me, you have to go outside and doze at the bench till it’s night and try again. I did that three times and it finally opened lol.
I spent 3 days trying to do this quest, I had a bounty on me in the town so even though I wore the garments, I still got attacked. It wasn't until I realised I had to sleep for a few days in my house before I could redo the quest without a bounty on me. Ugh this game 🤦🏻♀️

I was attacked constantly making this mission impossible because I was holding onto the gaol key. Get the forgery and give it back before attempting this mission.
@@ConCon no. Weapons sheathed, fighter class and wearing marchers armour. I spent a day figuring it out, it fixed as soon as I returned the gaol key and tried again.
So I wore my outfit, and the game flat out didn't show a cutscene. I got the achievement, though, so like everyone else. I was running in circles until I found this. But better yet, the door is locked, so I can't even go in

After dedicating 15 hours to the game, I finally headed to the main mission of the Masquerade Ball, where I encountered a door that was supposed to be the passage to the next stage of the adventure, but, to my frustration, it was bugged and refused to open. Desperate for a solution, I scoured the internet and confirmed I was not alone in this; it was a known bug. Persistent, I restarted the game several times, without success. In an attempt to circumvent the problem, I selected the option to load from the last resting place, hoping to reverse the course of events. However, to my absolute horror, instead of taking a step back in the mission, I was catapulted back to the beginning of the game. As if the irony of a game that does not allow multiple saves was not enough, my 15-hour progress evaporated, being replaced by a new empty save. And so, with a mix of incredulity and sarcasm, I could only ironically comment on the situation with a bitter "simply GOTY".

Oh damn yeah I saw the NPCs using the secret door like the entrance to a mall.
If the door is glitched, you can just exit and run to the brothel. Run past the guard inside and up the stairs and it will trigger the cutscene.

I checked there and it wasn't there either. I decided to go without a mask. It worked.
