There’s a long list of football players who looked like sure-things to succeed in the NFL. They dominated the collegiate level with relative ease, and we had every reason to believe they’d enjoy Hall of Fame-like careers.
But for a variety of reasons, some NCAA stars just couldn’t find that same level of success in the NFL. Here are 10 all-time NFL draft busts who we really WANTED to be great.

If you're being generous then no his career was not a bust. If you're being honest than yes it was. We all thought he was going to be the next Barry sanders if not better. He was not even close. Very good player but not great.
I still think it was the saints. They had an offense that was built around throwing. At one point they went many seasons without one 1k rusher
@@drepop803 i agree to an extent they actually dude deuce McAlister hit 1k multiple times the problem with Bush which he admitted was he thought the NFL speed would be like college where he could make a move and be gone but when you have DE running 4.6 and linebackers running 4.5 it was hard for to adjust once he started hitting the holes in Miami and Detroit that's when he hit 1k

Draft bust is based on objections not subjections. Injured or not, the selections are dependent on the productivity expectations not potential.

@@itsclobberingtime631 JaMarcus Russell for a lot of us. Don't know if it was about him personally. I think it was more about Al Davis being an overly involved owner to the degree that when players are busts, it's satisfying. So many refer to Heyward-Bey as a draft bust. Far from it. He was just a bad pick. No one else had him graded as a 1st round talent let alone a top 10 pick. That's entirely on the Raiders, not Heyward-Bey.

Reggie bush wasn’t that much of a bust ithe was more of a underrated player I liked that he won a Super Bowl and I do love how he was playing for not just the New Orleans Saints but for the Miami Dolphins and the Detroit Lions.

As an Oregon fan, I loved anariota. He started his pro carrer at the absolute top. He had a PERFECT 158.3 and 4 Touchdowns in one half and was pulled with a huge win over Tampa and Winston. Then I thought, Canton here we come! But He fell off a cliff and needed a real Offensive Coordinator. What a shame
I don’t like Elway becuz of what he did to Tebow, when he got Manning, he got rid of all backups, then Manning retires and Elway wonders why he doesn’t have a good QB
Tebow was terrible anyway. There is a reason he didn't make QB at any other team. He couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from 10 feet away.

@@majorpajor2453 Stats show everything. Facts and stats don't lie. You can be a fan of Tebow all you want, but you aren't being truthful if he say he was a NFL caliber QB.
He was only used on QB runs with the Jets because he was a bad QB. Very few QB's with 14 starts had worse completion percentage than Tebow.
And the "he can win" argument is the worst argument on the face of the planet used by people desperate to attempt to justify Tebow. He was 8-6 through 14 career starts. The Broncos won most of those 8 games DESPITE him, not because of him. There were several games where the defense forced a late turnover and they were already deep in scoring territory.
Manning couldn't have taught Tebow anything. His mechanics were flawed from the beginning. He worked with people that tried to correct them and it did nothing.
Tebow wasn’t even bad. No one gave him a chance
No coach was willing to put up with Tebow’s baggage, that being the media circus that covered Tebow’s every move. He probably would have been better off switching to fullback, but his pride would not allow him to change positions.
He wasn't a good pro QB. No shame in that. Greatest college QB of all time. To have a guy like Tebow on your team creates a lot of extra baggage that teams don't necessarily want to deal with, especially for a back up. Similar in that regard to Vick and Kaepernick. No surprise that the Eagles and Pats were willing to take a shot on him. Eagles weathered the Vick storm and NE had Tom Brady. So few would be calling for Tebow over Brady. If those two teams couldn't make it work with their creative play calling, I doubt Tebow really had the skillset that separates college greats from NFL has-beens.

Reggie Bush was like pre Alvin Kamara. Good on short bursts, but he wasn't a 3 down back.

I would say Winston was over-drafted but I wouldn't define him as a bust. I see what you're saying, that's a valid point, but I think he's still a starting caliber QB in the NFL where as from this point on Mariota is a career back up who without an injury ahead of him likely won't ever get a starting job

I don't think they know what bust means tbh. I think they think it means disappointing? But even then Jackson was easily a generational talent who's career ended due to injury not lack of talent. This channel is extremely confusing.

Love this list and your shows. There are a few things you really missed on though. Tebow simply wasn't a good NFL quarterback... At all. He couldn't read the field, had a very long delivery, poor arm strength, very inaccurate, etc... And RGIII actually had the best coach for him, Mike Shanahan. Mike is a legendary coach and he knew RGIII needed a good running game. He didn't put much pressure on RGIII like the Colts did on luck. RGIII rarely threw on 3rd and long, hence why his interceptions were low. I blame the Washington field. It's a terrible field and multiple players have gotten seriously hurt playing on it. Once he couldn't run as effectively, his game was shot. And it's pronounced "Fossil". Keep up the good work and the fun lists.

I remember the Colts' first game with Emtman -- against the Browns. He was a big contributor to the 10 total sacks on Kosar. You totally thought that he was going to be HUGE, but of course, a flash in the pan.

Kevin Hardy Notre Dame . Lettered in 3 sports for the Irish and a can't miss 1st round pick in the 1968 NFL draft. Was picked number 7 by the lowly Saints and never broke into a starting lineup for any of the teams he played for during a real head scratching short career.

Kinda surprised Ki-Jana Carter isn’t on this list. He was explosive in college and put up Heisman type numbers in 94 playing only in the first half of most games before going #1 overall to the Bengals and blowing out his knee on the second carry of his first preseason game.

Thank you for reminding me that Bo Jackson was drafted by the Bucs but didn't wan to play for us. Tebow was a stubborn ass who only wanted to play QB. Coaches tried to get him to change positions to TE but he refused. The Jaguars just signed him to play TE this season; he will be 34.

Tony Dungy is a devout right wing Christian and went out of his way on national TV to show his homophobia and go on his rant about how gays shouldn't be allowed to be in professional football, ever, when Micheal Sam was looking more and more like a draft pick. The NFL never seemed to have an issue with Tony, or Reggie White, or Drew Breese, or, frankly, any of them. In fact, I think they've gone out of their way to coddle all of them.

Tebow couldn't pass. He was a good athlete who probably would have been good if he had changed positions. He had one good year only because the Broncos had a good defense. He won a game against the Chiefs in which he completed one pass if I remember right. He had bad mechanics. He won the Heisman because of the team he played on. There have been tons of college QBs who won a lot at that level because they were better athletes than the people they played against. The NFL is a passing league. It's virtually impossible to have success without being able to throw. You can't build a franchise around someone like Tebow. You gotta be able to at least throw enough to keep a defense honest
I think former Seminole Peter Warrick definitely belongs on this list, electrifying in college not so much in NFL

A big factor on why Ron Dayne failed was what was said in this video. A RB can at times be worn down yards wise. That some only have so many yards on their bodies. By the time Dayne made it to the NFL his college output at 7,000+ yards had been a big toll for him. Its why a lot of coaches look at how much wear a RB gets in college as Ron Dayne is a reason for it.

Bush: he was so useto being faster than everyone that when he went to the NFL he tried to run around everyone, but they were just as fast as him. He was great when he went north south, or the scheme allowed him east west. He also had Brees in his prime so he was complimentary instead of the main focus
