The only reason that it hurts so badly to be a Bears fan of 35 years as opposed to a jets or Browns fan, is that the Bears produced some of the biggest stars the game has ever seen such as Walter Payton, Devon Hester, Butkus, Urlacher, etc and they have had some teams that seemed like they could be contenders, only to end the season in heartbreak.

It was so refreshing for the Packers to take a page out of the bears draft book when they shit the bed and picked Love. Of course we don't know how he'll pan out, he'll most likely become a decent QB, but with that move they completely alienated their MVP QB. There was no question about his loyalty to the organization and his mindset that he would finish his career there. That though completely changed in one night. All they had to do was draft an offensive weapon that wasn't a QB, or even foul up and draft a D player. They truly drafted the one and only position they shouldn't of and forever changed the course of their team... So refreshing

Nah, I'd say trading down in 2017 was probably a bigger mistake for the Packers, given that if they stayed put, they could've taken *TJ Watt*, who was taken one pick after the Packers' original selection. Love could still turn out to be a piece of the Packers' future, but passing on Watt for Kevin King is pretty indisputably bad, especially that they didn't exactly take a star with the extra pick they got in return either (Vince Biegel).

  • @dionr1168

Atlanta's worst draft trade was actually their trade with the Chargers in 2001 to draft a man involved in dog fighting.
On the flip side of the IND-ATL trade, Indy eventually traded Jeff George to the same team they traded to get him in the first place, and Jeff George SHOCKINGLY met the criteria necessary to turn the Atlanta 96 draft pick they owed to the Colts into a 1st round pick. Who did Indy use that pick on? None other than Marvin Harrison. So yeah, trading up for Jeff George did work out for the Colts, just not as expected, and in a way that would benefit them greatly a decade later.

The Cardinals trading for Rosen wasn't bad as they didn't give up much and needed a QB.
The worst draft trade had to be when they gave up the #2 pick in the 1998 to the chargers for the #3 and additional players and draft picks. The Cardinals came out like bandits but they made a bad pick selecting Andre Wadsworth instead of Charles Woodson and that set them back even more.

The problem with draft day trades is the consensus is usually what pushes everything. You have 2-5 players that they are completely wrong as being good, and 2-5 they are wrong that as being bad. It's EASY to say bad move AFTER most of these trades because you see what the player did not as opposed to what they could have been and everyone else thinks they should have done. Dallas traded back and took a center that they trashed them for. taking Fredrickson who became an immediate impact . They trashed KC for trading up for Mahomes. Now they say everyone in the spots before screwed up for not TAKING Mahomes. hindsight is always 20/20

As a Steeler fan, that trade was confusing AF 🤣 But hey, Eric Green was a very good TE. Our worst decision was not drafting Marino when we had the chance. Imagine that defense with Marino throwing the ball! They could have won at least 2 super bowls in the 90's.

Any Tampa Bay Buc fan will tell you the worst Game Day trade was the 1982 Booker Reese fiasco. Because the draft day guy wrote Sean Farrell down and submitted the card pick before the main room back in Tampa could decide between Farrell or Reese, the Bucs draft room back in Tampa panicked and traded away their 1983 First Rounder in order to move up for Reese. Reese turned out to be a bust and the Bucs missed out on the Great QB draft of 1983 (they could have been in position to get Marino just as Doug Williams was leaving due to the owner's bad contract offers).
With Barron, the Bucs at least got a couple years out of him and some trade value.

Most people think of the Bucs as a historically bad franchise, then there's you guys who seem to think drafting Mark Barron was one of their all time worst mistakes. Trust me, of all the dumb things they've done that doesn't even register.

The Packers didn't just draft Jordan Love, they re-chipped Roger's shoulder and now the future back to back MVP is on his way to Super Bowl ring number 2.
They didn't need a WR, they just needed the ones they had to play to their potential. Pissing off Rodgers was way more impactful than any rookie receiver would have been.

I dont recall Rodgers dropping the onside kick against Seattle.
Don't remember him unable to cover Julio against the Falcons.
He wasn't out there getting run over by San Francisco and it wasn't his fault Kevin King was on pain killers and couldn't cover anyone against Tampa...

As a titans fan it didn’t matter to me cause I wasn’t around back then but what does matter to me is the rams trading the titans a bunch of picks for our first rounder and they selected goff...titans with those picks got Derrick henry corey davis jonnu smith and Jack Conklin and some dude that was mediocre

I'm a giants fan, and I'm going to disagree with this. The worst was Deandre Baker from the 2019 draft. Trading up in the first round to get him, and played horrible, bad work ethic going back to his college days, and got cut after getting arrested.

if that is the worst draft trade the Steelers ever had, that really isnt so bad. The Steelers did have Merrill Hoge and Barry Foster as well as what they hoped was big time in Tim Worley. Obviously Smith was miles better, but not a terrible trade to get Greene. Seems like Pittsburghs Draft day trades overall netted 2 HOF players too. Not too shabby
