Happy summer trouting ❤ Abu just released their troutfield tfc rods for 2024, tried it the 4'6 UL casting is a joy for flick casting the small streams. its very affordable, very unique, if your looking for another rod :) I Spent most of my time doing alpine high altitude lakes and streams for small trout, so i did not get a ton of opportunity to get the big ones in the rivers this year like this video, Thanks for sharing keep posting, its nice to see an angler that appreciates the Japanese equiptment :)
I study your videos often , in order to understand how to correctly bfs fish for trout here in the Northern California rivers . I have a tough time knowing where to cast or how to work lures . I even went out and bought the same jerk baits you use not sure what size hooks you replaced the trebles with but I seems to have problems with the lure taken too fast by the current or jerking the bait too fast and the trout seem uninterested. I hope to learn and become more efficient like you someday 😊
@@vladd5291 yeah Bro. I figured out my error I was trying to throw into fast moving current with no actual target … I realized in order to get to depth you cast a little further from target let it drift then work it in the slower under current
Well Done! Some of those fish were big but skinny. I wonder if they are post spawn? Great fish handling- I am going to learn how to get trout out of the net without touching them the way you do.
Hey love your videos bud, I'm just getting into bfs fishing. I came across 2 bantam 100 reels, what type of line are you running and were do I getting rebuild kits for the reels and to get rods . Again thanks for the videos there have a good one bud.
Thanks for your comment. I use 8lb braided line and 6lb leader. Please check movie description, I listed there. For the bantam 100, I think you only want to change the spool and ready to go. www.ebay.com/itm/284856686858?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=aWvCpXh7Sli&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ugrM4H77QWi&var=586582344993&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thank you! you are the only one I know using plugs to catch trout in streams like the Pit. You were nailing them! It seemed like a great method for high water! And the firts Brown I've seen caught thetre in 40 years! I am interested in your reel. Did you customize it yourself? How did you learn how to do this?
Thank you for your comment. Yes I have customized old Abu reels for trout fishing. Please check movie detail section for all parts I changed. These reel MOD are all up to TH-cam, I learned them by self. Actually, it is not so difficult. Old Abu reels are simple compared to modern reels and fun to deal with.
You are a master at catching trout from different rivers! I really enjoyed watching all your videos. What is the brand, type and size of the single barbless hook(s) that you used in this video? Thanks!
This is tough question, both are really good for me. If you prefer sharper cast, Blancsierra is the one. FS53 is more focus on the fight after you fish on. The rod design point, Tiemco is nicer to me.
You mean fisherman or tiemco? Both are slow action rods, but Tiemco one is all E-Glass blanks. I like E-glass rod recently. Length are 4.7 or 5.2 or 5.3 I prefer the length depend on area I fish. If you fish at small creeks most you want 4.7 for sure. You probably do not want to use fast action rod anyway even rated ultra light…but all depends on how you cast and handle fish. I am still learning for my best rod.
What easy rivers would u recommend in Redding with trout in them…. Because I looked up so many different parts of upper sac and other river and see 0 access to them
I think... easiest one is Hat Creek. You still have to drive 299 to east, but easy access from 299. They have special regulation, so you want to check wildlife.ca.gov site.
Hi I was wondering where to purchase Tiemco Fenwick rods? And do they come with a warranty or no? I’m assuming it’s shipped from Japan. I’m interested in FS49CUL-3J
They are not discontinued. The company make the rod only once a year. If they sold out that’s it for the year. You want to keep eyes on them for another batch of production. I think it will be end of year to new year of 2025.
@@Angler216 got it. I’ve read reviews that some reels are not able to be attached with this. Have you tried any bigger reels such as Calcutta conquest would fit with this rod?
Your release method of no contact was impressive. Great fishing-respectful.

It sounds like you’re throwing your lures in the shallow riffles and not far enough upstream

Impressive again and again. That is a trophy brown. You make me almost want to switch to BFS from fly fishing.
hahaha... you can do both styles. No need to pick fly fishing or BFS right?
