@@SchwindOutdoors yea man for sure . You know this whole time I’ve had a kayak for like a year and I’ve only used it once haha . I feel like it’s a whole new level of preparation cause I don’t have the best of luck in the mornings . Plus this crazy weather we have had . I really have to try it out . This summer I feel like a lot more people are in corpus then usual so maybe I’ll see you out There . I heard kayaking is the way to do it .
Kayaking is a great way to reach those fish that you can't get to from the shore. The weather has made it tough. The wind should die down here in the next month or two. You should definitely get out there and try it!

That additional board for the motor, you should definitely make it go completely down to the deck, cut the same hole to match. You'd never know you added support that way.
Also, for the push pole, 2 mounts would work great. You could even make them, to stick with the hand made theme, in a Y shape where the pole sits inside and a small rubber band sized cord locks around the Y to hold it in place.

I've always wanted to build a wooden skiff, but it's not very practical in my area. One day....
It has been a very rewarding project. If you ever get the chance I would highly recommend it!

Thank you! If I were to do it over again I wouldn't start building a boat right after our first child was born! haha. Not really, it is taking a while but I am still enjoying it.

Aloha from Hawai'i. Very nice skiff build, looking awesome. Just out of curiosity how much do you guesstimate the final cost of the skiff will be not including motor, accessories, etc., just a fished hull? Also, how much do you guess your finished hull should weigh minus motor & accessories? Finally, how will you be hauling this skiff, on a trailer, or in your truck bed using a bed extender? I have been fishing my Solo Skiff here in a waters surround O'ahu island, for 2 years, and having a blast. Looking forward to your maiden voyage. Aloha a hui hou.
Man, those are great questions that I should know the answer to! I need to sit down with my receipts and figure out exactly what the boat cost me to build. If I had to guess, I would say somewhere between $1,300 and $1,500 for the hull. The hull weighs somewhere around 125 pounds. I plan to trailer the boat, but it can be hauled in the back of a truck. I have a buddy that built one and that's how he hauls it. Thanks for the comment!
@@SchwindOutdoors Mahalo for the reply. Your skiff has my Solo Skiff beat in the categories I asked. I paid $1800 plus $600 for shipping so $2400 total. My Solo Skiff weighs 150 pounds. I originally planned on just hauling it in my truck bed, but on my first try the day I picked it up from the shipper, I knew I could not keep this up after 4 back surgeries. I've using using a trailer with no regrets. I really like the micro-skiff life, and I'm looking forward to the launch, and maiden voyage of your skiff. Pick out a nice name for her. Best wishes.
