I want to thank TH-cam and the evolution of technology for allowing moments like this to last forever. Even when these brothers and our legends move on, this will be here for generations to learn from and to APPRECIATE 💯.
I grew up listening to both these hip hop icons in the late 80’s and the early 90’s. I’m stuck in that era of hip hop and R&B. BDK is one of my all time favorites
When the “JUICE CREW” came out I almost died!! Kane killed it!! So did KRS! I couldn’t believe Cool G Rap was not there! This was the best versus ever!!!!
1988 I was in juvie and this car from Jersey put me on to Kane. I was hooked. Now I’m pushing 50 and still gettin down to the realest OG’s The “originals”.
Rahkim has to be the greatest rapper of all time, he is what you call a “ masterpiece” and a real lyricist, not a cat in the hat rapper just listen closely to his words and check out his melody and how he moves the crowd Rahkim ain’t no joke, Kane is hot but he raps to fast and his beats aren’t hot enough, krs-1 beats are fire 🔥 and can hype up the crowd but his lyrics are regular
I miss the days when I could turn on my radio and hear beats, rhymes, and delivery of this caliber. At this point, hip hop is on life support. If we don't get some real rappers in here soon, this art form is going to die and our grandchildren will never know what it was. Both KRS-ONE and Big Daddy Kane still can bring the heat better than anyone out there today. And props to Big Daddy on that hat!
Literally, it never died and there are plenty of real rappers still here. Sick of these comments that are basically saying "I only listen to what's on surface, so I can critique the culture/genre as a whole".
I'm a 54 y/o "Brother." I was on the set when hip-hop emerged. I was a hip hop JUNKY! From the late 70's to late 80's was some of my best years. KRS-1 & Big Daddy Kane were giants of that era. That wasn't a versus, that was 2 icons gracing the same stage✊✊
The way KRS carries himself man. True hip-hop, knows how to trow a party for sure. The man managed to entertain and teach me at the same time, true legend ✊
While this is dope, looking at the comments most people seemed to miss the significance of this. Back in the '80s, BDP was beefing on wax with Marley Marl's Juice Crew. Hence, BDP's " The Bridge Is Over" which dissed Marley Marl, Queensbridge and the Juice Crew. Big Daddy Kane was under Marley Marl and the Juice Crew (along with Biz Markie, MC Shan, Craig G, Kool G Rap, Roxanne Shante, etc) They deaded it years ago but there is a story behind picking these 2 and it's not just because both are rap legends (which they are)

Yea but Kane and KRS were cool. Marley asked Kane to get at KRS , Kane told him noo. KANE then said KRs and Ms. Melody helped him move into his apt.. Kane said this in an Interview.. Notice how Kane wasn't mentioned in that Diss... This was a classic either way... It would've been crazy if Shane would've done this VS.. Shan don't have enough tracks though..
I’m 56 and live in the uk, I grew up with these guys as part of the soundtrack to my life. Hiphop will never be this good again in “this system of things.”
nobody is disputing that.. why even mention it??? lol the east birthed hip hop and made it lyrical... the mid west gave it speed... the west made it gangsta... the south gave it hype... the north made it gutter... all sides of hip hop are important bro.. stop tryna make this a new york vs the world thing bro... nobody taking anything away from new york.. every side of the dice is important
Never mind i found it.. But i still wanna know what that first beat was. I swear i got it in the back of my head but i cant think of what the original song was
Man, I'm just glad to see BOTH of them alive & well. I'm tired of hearing so many of our O.S rappers dying at such a young age. As far as I'm concerned it's a draw 🎶🎤🎤🎵
When Kane's - Aint no half-steppin' came out summer 88' that shit was harder and more intense lyrically than pretty much anything on the waves. Rakim, KRS-ONE, and Kane's lyricism ushered in the golden age of hip hop. th-cam.com/video/nqPlF5Mn32M/w-d-xo.html
They still do. Y’all just listen to bullshit and use it to represent todays hip hop as a whole because your too lazy to find the real artist. And there’s plenty around to be found.
I saw these guys in the 80’s in two separate concerts. Both of them were headliners of course. Godfathers of the game and lyrics for your ass! One of the greatest eras in Hip Hop!!
As an 80s kid, I've really missed rap artists that speak English. I've missed musical artistry in general. Soooo, this was a real treat to enjoy. Props to the dancers as well, great show!

@@youngrade3484 I don't understand your comment. I don't mean to be rude, but your comment really doesn't make any sense. Sympathy on stage? Huh? I don't know what you're talking about lol
Who remembers when dudes used to say: " I dont wanna be that 30 year old rapper" Very true.It was a young person's game, but if you can spit, you can spit as long as your mind is still sharp.Im just glad to see these guys who are my contemporaries still alive and still doing it lyrically.I always praise Kris and Shan for keeping the beef lyrical, because the beef was ugly and if dudes back then were sensitive and the mentality wasn't to slay with lyrics alotta young lives would've been lost prematurely.Everytime I see Kris I think of this and Kane who has been friends with Kris since the Juice Crew days might've even got hit with a stray in the crossfire.Thank you God for keeping these men alive so that we can live to see a day like this.
Hip Hop needs to evolve and get out of this “young forever” mindset. No other music art form has people worrying about the artists age. If your 50yo and still have your regular voice, there’s no reason why you still can’t be performing music. Rock n roll and Jazz and people making music in their 20’s to 70’s. Hip Hop should be the same.

You got that too.
Yeah that line alone won the vs for krs
Right that line was genius and super sick
That was a filthy bar but for me the edge went to bdk.
@@cadillacstr8mk I'm a BDK fan for real. I actually listen to his music more than I even do KRS, if I have to go straight facts...However...That night...The Bridge is OVER lol. Blast Master won that chit. lol
48 years old here and almost passed out from getting so hype while reciting The Bridge Is Over with him
Lol!
Yoooo when Red Alert came out and did his “Yeaaaaaaaah” while Capri played the air horns and gunshots. I got goosebumps. Uncle Red on KISS as a kid in the Bronx was the Man. Followed by Marley Marl & MR Magic.
i'm from Jersey City and i remember Biz Markie doing "Make the Music" with a TJ Swan intro live on Kiss FM like it was yesterday. At least once a month i say yeah or word in my Red Alert voice.
"When I spit next to Big Daddy Kane, I become his Co-Kane" - KRS
"When you stop bleeding

@@neldadon both bars are heavy stacked bars, for me this battle is a tie I don't care what anyone else says.
Big Daddy Kane. Clear, concise flow. That was dope
To me he got krs
As a kid who grew up during the late 80's/90's this is like salve for my soul.
Different era. Different vibe. Not to be compared. I grew up in both an appreciate the skills!
when two veterans come together = lyricism on steroids. These are REAL MCs here. New school take notes.
KRS Killed that 💩💯 Big Daddy Kane Was smooth as ever with his Flow… 🔥🔥🔥 Takes me back to my childhood watching rap city 💯 Both are G.O.A.T.’s 💯✌🏿
Yep that was one of the greatest verses battles that I've heard thus far
Kane said I’m so smooth Kris said I make the crowd move
Took me back.. I hoped out my bed dancing like a little kid!!! They definitely killed it

I want to thank TH-cam and the evolution of technology for allowing moments like this to last forever.
Even when these brothers and our legends move on, this will be here for generations to learn from and to APPRECIATE 💯.
Growing up In the 80’s listening to these legendary mc’s ryhms were the freshest in hip hop & rap 👊
I grew up listening to both these hip hop icons in the late 80’s and the early 90’s. I’m stuck in that era of hip hop and R&B. BDK is one of my all time favorites
I almost cried thinking we will never have those days back,. House parties ,boombox, and quarter arcades in the back of a bodega
Hip Hop won! The culture won! This was the best, you saw every element of Hip Hop in this verzuz!
K.R.S.O.N.E is arguably the greatest MC of all time! I saw him live and he has the greatest show ever! His lyricism and performance is second to none!
Thank you....
Hmmm. There's too many
Or you listen tooooo slow to comprehend Kane. Shame on you lol. Respect
Yep saw him in a small place in Philly last month and he was total magic every second.
Nah it won’t ever die, it’ll be like Motown - the machine might stop churning but the music lives in hearts and minds forever
The Smooth Operator had on that slick brim fa sho!!
Literally, it never died and there are plenty of real rappers still here. Sick of these comments that are basically saying "I only listen to what's on surface, so I can critique the culture/genre as a whole".
@@hendeozbur9916 right! It's a lot of independent rappers still reppin the culture the right way
If hip hop is on life support KRS and Kane gave it CPR
krs one & big daddy kane are two absolute legends in old school hip hop & 80's rap it doesn't get anywhere better than this .
I'm a 54 y/o "Brother."
I was on the set when hip-hop emerged. I was a hip hop JUNKY!
From the late 70's to late 80's was some of my best years.
KRS-1 & Big Daddy Kane were giants of that era. That wasn't a versus, that was 2 icons gracing the same stage✊✊
Factz
That Rapture beat is an absolute all time BANGER. Respect to 2 GOATS 🐐 🔥
Kane is one of my favorite emcees of all time, but I respect KRS One immensely as well. 2 Hip-Hop kings holding it down right there 💯🔥
The way KRS carries himself man. True hip-hop, knows how to trow a party for sure. The man managed to entertain and teach me at the same time, true legend ✊
These 2 brothers were Rap Gods back in my day... Salute to both of them...
Big Daddy Kane was under Marley Marl and the Juice Crew (along with Biz Markie, MC Shan, Craig G, Kool G Rap, Roxanne Shante, etc) They deaded it years ago but there is a story behind picking these 2 and it's not just because both are rap legends (which they are)
You know whats up, I made a dedication video to Hip Hop ,Black History and the God Mc Krs One Check it out and tell me what you think
For Ever Hip Hop !
m.th-cam.com/video/cI-XaaNJys4/w-d-xo.html
Yea but Kane and KRS were cool. Marley asked Kane to get at KRS , Kane told him noo. KANE then said KRs and Ms. Melody helped him move into his apt.. Kane said this in an Interview.. Notice how Kane wasn't mentioned in that Diss... This was a classic either way... It would've been crazy if Shane would've done this VS.. Shan don't have enough tracks though..
EXCELLENT POINT!

When you don’t have a lot of chaos on the stage, it makes a big difference. Great performances by both.
I’m 56 and live in the uk, I grew up with these guys as part of the soundtrack to my life.
Hiphop will never be this good again in “this system of things.”
This battle clearly shows the world that NEW YORK CITY is, was, and always will be the epicenter of HIP-HOP!
RT!!!!! It’s Newwwww Yorkkkkkkk .
Me being from the south Miami I can honestly agree
100% !!
nobody is disputing that.. why even mention it??? lol the east birthed hip hop and made it lyrical... the mid west gave it speed... the west made it gangsta... the south gave it hype... the north made it gutter... all sides of hip hop are important bro.. stop tryna make this a new york vs the world thing bro... nobody taking anything away from new york.. every side of the dice is important
Sonset....
"I'm not a player I crush a lot, no pun intended." Sheesh. Still got it.😉🤙
I need a time stamp on that, i dont know how tf i missed it.. And do you know what beat it was that Kane first spit on? The very first beat he did?
Never mind i found it.. But i still wanna know what that first beat was. I swear i got it in the back of my head but i cant think of what the original song was

Man, I'm just glad to see BOTH of them alive & well. I'm tired of hearing so many of our O.S rappers dying at such a young age. As far as I'm concerned it's a draw 🎶🎤🎤🎵
My favourite comment on here! Coudn't agree with you more!
It ain't no draw

I saw these guys in the 80’s in two separate concerts. Both of them were headliners of course. Godfathers of the game and lyrics for your ass! One of the greatest eras in Hip Hop!!
As an 80s kid, I've really missed rap artists that speak English. I've missed musical artistry in general. Soooo, this was a real treat to enjoy. Props to the dancers as well, great show!
I just made my 11 year old son watch this. i said this is hip hop!! name me one cat today that can come close to either of these guys!! man I'm so glad I grew up to this!!

I'd say It was Kane's night overall, although they were both great. Kane's technical flow, breath control and proper enunciation of words did it for me. Than man was a lyrical surgeon on stage!
I agree. KRS was trying too hard and even a bit mean spirited. Kane was more relaxed.

How old are You guys? Hip Hop has No sympathy on stage. Trying too hard? I get it, but your perspective on this battle is off on some things
@@youngrade3484 how so?
@@sankofaafari4374 Amen.....slowly coming around to it because some of our OGs are in their 50s and 60s.In our early days late 70s and early 80s we had nobody in their 30s.
@@sankofaafari4374 Same thing I've said to younger people that said something about some rappers being 50 and still rapping. We won't have a legacy to look forward to for concerts if we tell them to go sit down somewhere. If we're not dead we all are going to get older and young people are not the only ones that love music and can do it.
Whoever pot this together .. thank you very much … time stopped today and the guns were put away
Mad respect. This isn't a verzuz it's a history lesson. In KRS I'm number one he says 20 years from now we'll be the old school rappers. This was awesome!! 💯
