  • www.vladtv.com - KRS-One dropped knowledge on the culture of Hip-Hop in this interview with Jonathan Gasana.
He dove into the deep history that played a great role in the development of the internationally popular musical genre and cultural practice, dating back to the days of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. KRS explained how White America has always been in control of governing Black people's freedoms, and that even though Barack Obama is the current President of the United States, it wasn't Black people who got him voted into office.
He also clarified the distinct difference between Black men and Black boys, who exist within the Hip Hop culture. According to KRS-One, there are no real men in mainstream Hip Hop, and that every rapper involved is only a man stuck in the mindframe of a "little boy." He credited the culture for being heavily influenced by women, and explained how 90% of the rappers who came up from 1981-1991, "The Golden Age of Hip Hop," were raised by single mothers.
Do you agree with KRS-One's views on the lack of real "men" in mainstream Hip-Hop?
Be sure to check out more videos from Jonathan Gasana's TH-cam channel here.

Love krs1. I'm sounding the alarm. Supply and demand, tuition costs have risen even though College attendance has skyrocketed. You would think that the more books they order the cheaper they would , indeed it's quite the opposite because they want to keep the masses dumbed-down which only inevitably hurts them. that's why I believe when the family of original Reddit Creator claims that elements within the government have had him murdered because he was trying to release open domain documents all on one searchable website without the need to know the specific Case Files for free which had never been done before. and drawing lines from climate change denial and those who funded it. With that as well as the Gulf of Tonkin, Iran-Contra, MK Ultra, the Bay of Pigs, the memo to have terrorist attacks carried out by us to be blamed on Cuba all of which have been Declassified document proof that the government would lie to us and could possibly have elements working for an unknown agenda. Possibly a leftover from Operation Paperclip. how can we become so far behind, nearly last in education. do you win saying one of our Wars is unethical or that they said we had to leave and we're not listening to it, we're not adhering to nuclear regulation. Trying to harsh on Iran saying they're hiding s*** when we won't even sign the agreement or ratify it rather last and trying to keep up with China and Russia. the internets boy. Couldn't smear him so they Epstein the f out of him for tracing climate change denial funding. Remember Gulf of Tonkin and all the people who died in Vietnam because of this lie, Iran-Contra and all the negative images people associated with the devastation of the African-American community, remember MK Ultra where they didn't give a fuk about anybody. 20 years in a war that the United Nations says is against some treaty that we signed
They want us to think that they stole the Revolution but people are just As fed up with the lies. Watch foreign news coverage of America to get a relatively unbiased picture. Watch Australian 4 corners. They show people talking tacticly. Iran-Contra flooded America streets only hitting black neighborhoods Which would cause a rift between the African American and white neighborhoods & divide a nations people. The gulf of tonkin(lie that got America in Vietnam war). Cia memo suggested attacks on America to be blamed om Cuba... 20 years of war, why? UN says against rules of engagement. Why don't our students who think they're protecting our country& end up serving a dark unknown reason? Tell everyone! Look it up!! Mk ultra, operation paperclip.we already have a fully automated Greenhouse for growing crops using Hydroponics Robotics and 3D lasers where they can plant the seed germinated transfer feed it and water it with exact nutrients which would eliminate pesticide runoff and River pollution.using less land, tapping into the water table and the indoor climate controlled environment would allow 365 24/7 groom farming conditions and we also wouldn't have so much wasted water pumped up from the water table, and when the water table get slower there's less water pressure on those Caverns and when we pump out so much the fissures and cracks in Earth's crust causing earthquakes and for earthquake-prone environments that's a good thing. we just need to have a peaceful demonstration that were over it, having a prerequisite, denouncing any violence taking place before the demonstration across the world. Sounds good to me as long as people aren't stupid or cause violence

@Djasko M The sign of the horns as related to music (specifically metal) was actually initially started to ward off evil. There are different opinions on this, with some saying that different musicians may have done it before Ronnie James Dio, but Dio said it was a sign that his grandmother in Italy used to defend against evil. Of course nowadays the original intent has been forgotten and people often associate that sign with the devil, but it's actually meant to protect against the devil. People from all walks have co-opted the sign...from politicians to Britney Spears. In terms of rebellion or revolution, the beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder...but, in terms of music (specifically as in instrumentation and musical skill), I challenge anyone to show me more revolutionary music than Slam Metal, Brutal Death Metal, Goregrind, Deathcore, etc. Just check out these cuts: Cryogenic Defilement "Uterine Intercourse" or Abominable Putridity "Remnants of the Tortured" or a couple tracks from Lust of Decay "Embryonic Breeding for Cannibalistic Devourment" and "Scarification". Also, in terms of beats, check out the drum playthrough video for Infant Annihilator "Cuntcrusher"...as a drummer, metal has always blown me away with how it evolves. The speed, power, might, brilliance, and over-the-top brutality. It's life-changing.

White people were at the forefront of black freedom? I love how he's acting as if white people only giving black people their civil rights 50 or so years ago is something they should be proud of. That America releasing *humans* from slavery was something monumental. I get the premise to his points, but sometimes he talks garbage, and people just lap it up, simply because It "sounds intelligent". Black people were at the forefront of their own freedom, so take a seat.

SpiderLN but you will praise all of the black freedom fighters and happily overlook and forget the white ones because there was probably some secret agenda anyway, right?. I have never seen anything like the stupidity that goes on in racial debates and arguments in these times, it's like blacks want white ppl to say here you go, we'll be your slaves for a few centuries, will that make up for everything. Blacks aint gonna get no payback and they shouldn't either because 95% of whites in todays society have nothing to do with what happened during those times, they need to stop using their forefathers suffering as an excuse for them to do nothing but complain about racism in every situation, the slaves from them days would be ashamed of todays blacks who like to play victim but know nothing of real suffering.

    • @Conda17
      @Conda17 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

***** and you act like just because the people doing the oppressing were white that this is a birth born blueprint of how whites think and act in general, because generalising a whole race by assumption has never caused problems before lol . There were black people oppressing, torturing and enslaving their own people before they even saw a white man, it's like you think there are no sadistic, power hungry, ego powered black people in the world and that these are purely white traits which is completely ridiculous, whites get most of the flack because they always ended up in the privileged boss position instead of the slaves. I'm saying blacks now days try to claim their forefathers suffering as their own and act as if they were on a plantation themselves so they can play victim and get a free easy pass in life while claiming that everything that goes wrong in their life is because of prejudiced views. Instead of learning from from what happened to older black generations so they could preach equality and fairness it's like blacks want to be in the position that white were in but with whites as their slaves when this is exactly what they blame them for, it's a revolving door of stupidity. People are people individually with their own views, opinions, flaws and good traits. A person from every race can be righteous and kind while a person from the same race can be sadistic and evil.

KRS-One just tells the FULL STORY something that Some Blacks and Whites don't do. Some Whites will tell you "Abraham Lincoln Freed The Slaves" and Some Black Folks will say "We Freed Ourselves"...Yes & No on both sides. While yes it was people Nat Turner and Harriet Tubman who stories we already know, it was also People like John Brown A White Abolitionist, Levi and Catharine Coffin, Rev. John and Jean Rankin just to name a few who put their lives on the Line as well to help Free Slaves. So lets not be like our Oppressors and try to leave them out of our History much like they leave us our of their History. Yes it was Whites who played a Role in Blacks getting their Freedom even if you want to call it a small one, it still existed!

Not only is this not his video, but he did cut out just a piece from it. And this seems to be a piece of it, that would cause controversy.

***** I agree, that this interview took place YEARS AGO (2013 to be exact). But at the same time, there's numerous people and/or websites, that reposting this video (most of them #InGeneral are mistaken, that DJ Vlad interviewed KRS-One).
      Peep the following article...
It starts with the following title: KRS-One Says He Can't Make Money In The U.S. Due To Lack Of Respect For Hip Hop
      [Monday February 02, 2015 at 09:00AM PST]
AND, that same article ends with: "KRS-One’s interview with Vlad TV can be found below."

"I want the guy with the carr" 🤣 Made me laugh, because it's so true. A lot of people are materialistic, not caring about the wellbeing of one another & what's beyond our physical appearance & social status.

Wisdom? Everything that guy says I knew already. It's as if he says " look, roses are red " and a million people are immediately in awe because KRS said so. He just has a nice way of saying it. I rather hear MC Shan talk, that guy sounds a million times more real then KRS.

@@creechvideos I love Shan but let's keep things real. Krs ain't nicknamed the teacha for nothing. This guy is probably the most intelligent in Hip Hop. Knowledge Reigns Supreme.

Probably because he started to call hisself the Teacher? And being slick is not the same as being intelligent. Having a way with words, knowing how to reach people, yes they are some good skills to have, but it doesnt mean you know everything. KRS One, at least to me, just comes across as a cocky and annoying know-it-all.
