  • @mfranzusan3014

I think people would have expected a fight or a gun to get pulled because the camps were firmly entrenched. You were either on one side or the other. Both were very skilled in their prime. Aspects of their performances won over their respective crowds in different ways. The R, was a mathematician. Kane was the ladie's man. Rakim was serious and calm. Kane was tongue-in-cheek. They were both great, but I think Kane is right when he said as a nostalgia thing, for he and Rakim to do a zoom meeting battle... that would be nice to see.

The thing about the Kane-KRS verzuz that still bothers me is (1) IKane shoulda had Skazz or Mr. C on the wheels because he has perfect timing and chemistry with them - especially since they DJs didn’t battle. And (2) when Kane switched gears with the freestyle battle rhymes, KRS didn’t want it. KRS went back to the records.
Either way, this was better than a Kane Rakim battle.

Naw, KRS-ONE definitely won that. Krs was freestyling, but Kane was saying old "freestyles" that he said years ago. You can look that up on youtube, but I know Kane has an arsenal of new shit. He was just pacing things out. Krs bars was too much for Kane. Go back & listen to the lyrics. Also, Big Daddy Kane is my 3rd all time favorite emcee. He's still dope to this day. He's supposed to have a new album coming out. KRS-ONE IMAMCRU12 new 2022 album is 🔥 straight through. Their verzuz was great for Hip Hop. 💯

I miss the old versuz. Of course money took over then it became a whole production show. But when it was just laid back in the crib with the artists on IG, I really felt like I was in the living room or home studio with them. Hearing the "back stage" stories that each artist had in the vault over the years. It was dope. Then it became about making a profit and went to sh*t.

He changed the game, he changed music, the whole trajectory of hip-hop. After him rap became more serious, "Weak ideas, irritate my ears!" and he was the first one that made Rap seen as metaphysical to the point where he was christened the God MC. But then Kane came along a few years later and his punchlines, flow, and the fact he could spit that double-time rhyme scheme like on RAW definitely made him a worthy rival of Rakim! LOL The main reason was they were like the first true gold and platinum rappers with knowledge of self!

I agree! Because, really, it wasn't close with krs! It was a great deal of respect! Kane, recited every word to his lyrics! Every word! KRS didn't. He was sticking the mic to the crowd, who didn't know all of his songs... They were clueless, however, when Kane began to recite his lyrics, they didn't know it his song! It was awesome to see, especially for those that were unaware that Kane was such a dominant lyricist! And at the end, he showed how classy and humble he was, sharing the story of KRS and Ms. Melody, moving him into his first place!
    Much love brother Kane! Growth!
