Bleek answered the question perfectly for me. I heard Criminal Minded and was blown away! Also Ice T's 6 in the morning was another reason i feel in love with HIP HOP!💯
Rakim... I love KRS though he is a pioneer and a legend in the game. Rakim though is the MC's MC IMO, the first real "lyricist" in hip hop.
Jay-Z did a speech at his Rock and Roll hall of fame Award.. He spoke about his Top influencers in Hiphop… Krs one , Rakim , LL Cool J….. All Hiphop Royalty 👑
There is something to be said about an MCee who never stopped making albums every year since 1986 lol just saying .
@@Christiannazarioalt2 Sometimes Less is More, MFs water down their catalog by making a bunch of Sloppy BS that has to be picked over to find something worth listening to.
Rakim just put out a new one about 3 weeks ago.
Quality trumps quantity thou
But at there best it's still comparable
Rakim ❤
Criminal Minded is the greatest hip hop album of all time..KRS 1 is the GOAT!
Let's give them both the props for a change
⭐ Rakim
KRS 1 said 50 yrs from now I Still Be Number One
He lied
He was not #1 back then, the fight for supremacy was Ra and Kane, KRS was #3 in the convo
@charlesbrown3056 KRS has Always been #1
Better than
Kane Rakim Kool G and LL
@@justice77justice Barbershop talk was always Ra and Kane, not KRS, that is why people wanted the verses, doubt you lived in there prime. Now if that is your opinion, kool, but that was not reality, Kane and Ra go hand in hand, like magic and bird, that was for #1 spot.
@@justice77justice What makes him better?
I got go wit the teacha cause he taught me thingz about my blackness and he straight boom bap. But still mad respect for the GOD Emcee Rakim!
He did not help you with your "super self esteem make you super superb", Rakim did not help you with knowledge of self, let knowledge be born?
3:18 very interesting person to ask. Because he was the ONLY MC back then who was compared to the R !
The comparison back then wasn't KRS-One he wasn't even in the equation it was Big Daddy Kane
Rakim had the absolute greatest bar in the history of hip hop..i take 7 emcees put em in a line....
In business they call that efficiency
Interesting. Imma rock w/ Rakim because I'm more familiar w/ his music. I obviously know KRS One, but I was exposed more to Rakim because my dad used to recite his lyrics word for word when I was little.
I wish I could find the last episode of Yo Mtv Raps where KRSONE was talking about how ecstatic he was about Rakim passing him the mic.
Rakim 👏🏾
RAKIM. RAKIM, RAKIM!!! I LOVE KRS-ONE, BUT RAKIM CHANGED RAP IN A WAY THAT NO ONE HAS OR WILL EVER. PLUS KRS-ONE STILL STANDS BEHIND AFRIKA BAMBAATA( THE CHILD MOLESTER).
I Love Both Rakim & KRS EQUALLY. I would love for them to do an album together RIGHT NOW 2024/2025!!!
Rakim, KRS don’t know the ledge
Rakim created a Nas from his cloth
KRS-One didn’t
I could see bustu rhymes coming from the cloth of krs one in terms of both have that competitive battle spirit
I absolutely love both but I gotta go Rakim.
Ask NAS & he would take a shot. He already wrote a tribute to both OGs.
No he did not he only wrote one, that was Rakim. He did not write one for KRS, he was never did. What is the name he did for KRS or album? Another person talking cause he has lips. Help me I can't find the KRS song Nas did about him.
@@charlesbrown3056He was planning on making unauthorized biography of KRS but it probably got scrapped. He says so at the end of UBR.
Damn, my guy AZ with the Carlos Boozer spray fade.
Man that's like asking Mj or Dr j
Dr. J for me, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have watched B-ball! Also, my nod goes to the 18th Letter!
I listen to BOTH OF THEM...bless them always! Word!!
Ask KRS-ONE why did he leave Rakim off the song "Self Destruction"???....During the "Golden Era" of Rap.....And you will understand in their PRIME it was Rakim!!!!!!!!
That's like picking pacino Or robert de nero
Like Shawn Kemp vs. Dominique Wilkins.
True that!
Cmon it’s Ra all day!
Both
To this day, no song is touching these songs by Rakim:
"Follow The Leader"
"Lyrics Of Fury"
"The Punisher"
"No Omega"
"Musical Massacre"
"The Mystery, Who Is God"
"Holy Are You"
"When I'm Flowing"
"The Saga Begins"
I wonder what the top MC's thought when they heard "Lyics Of Fury"
"Follow The Leader"
And "The Punisher"
And let the rhythm hitem
RAK
Blastmaster KRS-One #1 MC. "Criminal Minded" dropped in 1987 the hood went crazy. Blastmaster still droppin' bangers in 2024. Over 30 albums...All bangers!!
Rakim vs Kane was the rivalry smh learn your history 😂
You know sumn 💯💯💯💯
Good point...I heard more Kane vs rakim comparison back then
Yeah because both of them don't want the Smoke from KRS
This video so wholesome man
Much love to the gods
Both had great impact obviously
The guest on the show can't give a honest answer. Because they got relationships with them. But me being a person that bought their albums and stuff like that.
Rakim,!
The words and the way he used them in the rhymes! MAN!
Rakim
Without question
KRS ONE told us, "50 yrs down the line we can start this cause well be the old school artists and even in that time I'll say a rhyme a brand new style ruthless and wild running around town spending money having fun cause even then I'm still number 1"
This is a Shot Str8...no chaser
KRS had a longer run but Ra's impact is unmatched. The tie breaker, for me, is the Live.Hardcore.Worldwide album Kris/BDP dropped. Hearing French crowds rap along bar for bar was hard to imagine in the late 80s, but the Teacha was always able to make it happen.
Much love to Kris. The man is in the Top 10 of all time. Every BDP album and multiple solos are bangers, plus his features are FIRE (Lord Finesse’s Brainstorm, Channel Live’s Mad Izm, etc.), but I gotta go with Ra.
The impact that Follow The Leader, I Ain’t No Joke, Know the Ledge, and Run for Cover had on me is immeasurable.
6:02-6:43 Listen to “Mahogany” Verse 2, She kissed me slow, but you know how far a kiss can go
F*** around and miss the show
Listen to “My Melody” Verse 2 So now a contest is what you owe me
Pull out your money, pull out your cut
Pull up a chair... and Ima tear sh** up. Again in that same verse he say later in the rhyme/
I wouldn't have came to set my name and run the same weak sh-
7:22-7:24 You still saying he never Cuss
9:57-10:02 Nore stop 🛑 it,cut it out
12:04-12:09 Still at it Nore
Been waiting for someone to point this out. 👊🏼
They both my favorite rappers. Can’t go against either one of them.
WHAT'S KNOWN DON'T HAVE TO BE SAID!!! DA GOD MC RAKIM!!! HANDS DOWN!!! ... #RAKIMTHEGOAT!!! 🎤🫵💪💯
I love them both. Two teachers of the game.😊
Shit , by far , that's an easy one . . . "RAKIM ALLAH" all day and night , 24-7 , 365 and 24-7 , 366 on leap years . . . You can't compare a "Teacher" to "ALLAH" . . .
I love KRS one, but Rakim is my English Professor in Hip-hop university
BOTH DRINK HAHAHA these are 2 of my favorites I love that era from 85 to 90 nwa doc included big daddy kane biz markie kool g rap masta ace the whole juice crew gangstar epmd run dmc pete rock cl smooth bdp eric b and rakim public enemy ghetto boys ice t dj quik too short slick rick theres a few more but those were the golden years
