    I chose to retire in San Diego 6 years ago. I absolutely love it. I don't like snow or extreme heat. My home is on 1/2 acre. (Mt. Helix) 15-20 minutes to everything. I am so happy with my choice. My house has value has doubled value in 6 short years! I stay home on the weekends & go out during the week, when traffic is light. I came here from Cupertino, CA (Silicon Valley) and lived in Monterey/Pacific Grove for a decade. I love all of California!

    I've lived here my entire adult life since 19. I can't afford to retire here. San Diego is for people who are very wealthy, young or wealthy and old period. If you move here and are middle class or lower middle class, you will struggle constantly. I speak from experience.

    to be honest the lack of seasons is exactly what's drawing me to san diego. Im from the other sd (south dakota) and I absolutely hate winter here. I have horses and my workplace is currently a barn a few miles from me, and trust me after feeding horses and cleaning stalls in -20 degree weather the winterlessness would be welcomed.

      @@sprklyhanse5729 hello I’m born and raised San Diego I’m looking to move to South Dakota in a year. Sioux Falls area or Harrisburg how difficult do you think the snow or cold will be to adjust to. Keep in mind all I know is sunny California weather. I’m tired of always sunny days we never get 4 seasons it sucks I would like to experience it but I also realize cold to me is 60 degrees lol that’s probably your tank top and shorts weather In South Dakota.

    • @sprklyhanse5729
      @sprklyhanse5729 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mando2.049 I mean it will definitely be an adjustment for you. Before you decide to commit for sure, you should probably try to come out around January-March because that's when we tend to be the coldest. The climate, terrain, and people are pretty different depending on what side of the river you're on, but the coldest months should still fall into January-March regardless. And yeah, 60 is definitely tank top weather for us, since SD likes the extremes for temperature. It can get around 100 or higher in the summer and -20 in the winter, so after a cold snap even 20 is t-shirt weather to walk in an out of stores. With my horses and outside job, by the time I'm done outside my eyelashes are freezing together and my eyebrows are crusted with ice from my breath. I don't think it does that in the time it takes to walk from a car to a building though, so unless you get livestock or work outside it shouldn't be much of an issue.

    • @grfnprjx
      @grfnprjx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mando2.049 not sure if you’ve moved or visited yet, but South Dakota gets some pretty gnarly winters.. think extended periods of subzero air temp with added wind chill making it feel -20 to -30 or worse.. then in the summer the humidity is usually high and can get into the 90s.
      I am from there, and have lived all over, and can easily say sodak (and North Dakota) have some of the most unforgiving seasons.
      People can seem to be fairly ignorant about world / other cultures since other than native Americans there is not much diversity.. that is getting better in Sioux Falls (biggest city which Harrisburg borders), but it’s pretty jarring some of the thoughts and beliefs some South Dakotans have. They are generally nice and helpful (like most places in the states), but very small town mentality.
      I agree with the original commenter.. it’s worth a visit esp during winter months and maybe in august.. for example last week my dad who lives in Pierre, SD just got 14in of snow. 😳 in April-over a foot of snow.
      Overall, sodak can be a great place if you are looking for a slower pace with more small town mentality. :)
      Be well++

    When you are going through difficult times in your life, don’t isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don’t push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don’t know if there’s a way out is dangerous and that’s why we have suicide cases. Listen, there’s nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.

    Chula Vista and Imperial Beach has more affordable housing. Condos and nice mobile home parks are more affordable. An easy trip to downtown or the ocean. I like the hundreds of Meetups to get out and get acquainted with a few people in whatever you are interested in. The climate is beautiful, parks are fantastic, and museums have free day once a week for residents. Food is varied, and farmers markets. Great thrift stores and resale places, including luxury furniture.

    The so called traffic in San Diego is mostly people driving slow against the flow of traffic...its bizarre....they create this traffic issue, out of weirdness and, or boredom...lol....especially north county...merging on the Freeway doing 40 mph is not the best idea...San Diego is beautiful, but not much else,it lacks culture, diversity, character, and bland food...biggest thing going is tacos...lol...its a generic mundane place for the well off who are not experienced with other environments....

Traffic jams r all the time even the weekends., No good food, people r shitty, no culture, not events, no anything it's just boring. The rainy season is from October to end of June ... It's the worst but most beautiful state I have ever lived in... It's one big small town.. this state has been left behind and prices r through the roof, $ 100 for 2 sandwiches and 2 beers, $ 700k for a decent regular house in a shit part of town.

Decades ago the powers to be decided that we needed more tourists. They were so worshiped that we, the folks who lived there and paid taxes, were becoming second class citizens in our our own town. Traffic, especially on the weekends, was ridiculous..

    I moved to San Diego when I was 8 in 1998 and lived there til 2021. I do not recognize the city anymore. It used to be a small-ish and laid back city and was a hidden gem compared to LA and San Francisco. Now it’s super bougie and unaffordable with so many super wealthy transplants coming in and jacking up real estate prices. The working class military town feel has diminished so much. I’d love to move back but given political and demographic shifts in the state of California as a whole I don’t think I’ll ever be able to move back anytime soon.

    I hear a lot of people say that San Diego is a lot slower paced and it has way too many breweries and that it has a lot of potential, but it’s hella boring. I’m from LA and the traffic is a different animal, but it gets really active out there.
    When it comes to natural disasters, it is concerning because I don’t want to be around areas that are dry like you mentioned and I don’t want to get caught up with the wildfires. When it comes to earthquakes, I currently live in Beaumont and we are literally on the San Andreas fault line so we deal with frequent earthquakes out here. Another concern is people because I do want to connect myself with entrepreneurs and small business owners that can help me elevate my game in consulting and in personal training.
    When it comes to sports teams, I doesn’t concern me because I’m an LA sports team supporter except football, I’m a Patriots fan. But I love my Dodgers and Lakers!
    But overall great content, I do plan on living out in SD maybe in the next 3-5 years, I just don’t know the conditions and what it’ll be like around that time. I don’t know if it’ll be more packed or the cost of living will get even higher. Maybe considering elsewhere, what’s your take?

      Over the long term I think more and more people will move to San Diego over time. It's been undervalued for a long time and prior to the housing shortage was very reasonable - now its starting to have happen when you compare it up North. Thanks! In our search for inclusion, I find San Diego to be accepting of all political backgrounds, ideologies, personalities, etc. I do believe there are things people need to work on, but thats nothing the beaches/weather can't fix!
      Thank you for your watching! 😀

    To the person reading this, you are who God says you are. You are made in the image of God, The Creator of heaven and earth. Because of His love for you and I, He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for you so that you can have everlasting life and not go to hell. Jesus Christ arose from the dead, He is alive and is the only Messiah, the King of kings, the Beginning and the End. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the whole world. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, invite Him into your heart/life today. Wherever you are, He can hear you for He is everywhere. Remember Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God the Father. Jesus loves you sooooo much so that He gave His life for you. You are valuable...You are loved.
