      Do it man. I lived in the Midwest until I was 19 and just left everything and moved to California. Found a place sharing a room with someone who became my best friend for $500 a month. If you’re not in school or don’t have your parents to rely on, you’ll have to work full time. Plenty of positions from $15-$18 and sometimes $20 without a degree. Then you gain experience and climb the latter. You can get out if you really want to. Take the first step in faith, you don’t have to see the whole staircase. Lmk if you wanna chat about what it’s like moving out of the Midwest to beautiful socal. I’ll tell you everything I did and maybe can suggest a way for you to do the same. I’m currently about to start a full time professional job I landed down in La Jolla San Diego in this summer. I’m living proof that it can be done.

    Traffic sucks, parking sucks, cost of living sucks, finding a job that allows you to pay bills is hard. Having to shack up with 5 other people to afford rent sucks. The population tends to be transient and move around lot, so be careful who you trust. This video has good advice about the traffic and I recommend you drive in rush hour traffic during peak hours for a full week -- you will get a better feel of what your life will be like.
    It is easier to enjoy San Diego if you have a good job waiting for you.
    I've been living here almost 40 years and wouldn't live anywhere else. I've known people to move back to places like Chicago or Minnesota, but then come back after going through a winter.

    • @nohippietruckingandtransportat
      @nohippietruckingandtransportat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a truck driver so I know. san diego has virtually no traffic compared to even places like Louisville KY, Cincinnati OH, Nashville TN...I could go on. as far as the cost of living, less than Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, NYC area. you pay more for places people want to move.

    Comin'at ya from out in La Mesa. I would say that the neighborhoods that comprise Uptown San Diego would be amongst the most walkable in town: Hillcrest, North Park, Normal Heights, University Heights, Kensington are all greatlive clost to a grocery store.And if you play your cards right, you can live close to a grocey store; like VONS in Normal Heights and North Park, Smart & Final Extra in North Park, Ralphs Hillcrest, Sprouts in University Heights. There is alsothat Target Express in Golden Hill where Galafoods used to be, and there are also some substantial mom and pop srores in the area as well. plenty of shopping!

    If you're moving from out of state. Do your research, DO NOT select the cheapest moving company, make sure they're bonded & insured, and get everything in writing. @terrancepinkney777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That would mostly depend on your budget. Housing is tight here just as it is in a lot of areas in southern California. Cheap rent could come it issues you don't want to deal with like crime, homelessness etc. Do a budget analysis and look at where you are and from that you can look at areas that fit within that budget.

      @@allanjoseph7535 @$900.00 here in San Diego you are looking at renting a room in a house or apt. Basically you are sharing your space with others. One of the only ways to get rent that low is supplemental house or low income housing. It's tough I'm not going to lie to you man sacrifices will have to be made if you really want it to work.

Stay away from the south east side of downtown in my opinion...also pacific beach is a young crowd but it’s a lot of partying on the weekend nights with majority of college kids. I have lived in SD for a long time now and that would really depend on where your interest lie. San Diego is a huge pet and family-friendly city with lots of parks for both kids and pets. Now as far as your question about quiet and things like that it would depend on your situation when you arrive like work, hobbies, general interests, etc. There lots of locations in North and South San Diego as well as the coastal areas.

      That would mostly depend on you what your budget is. Housing is really tight here just as it is in most places in SoCal with that being said where you plan on working or relaxing ie; beach, inland areas north or south near the border will be a factor in the costs.

    Real Tip #1: You're about 40 years too late and San Diego is no longer "America's Finest City".
    Crime is rampant because of Prop 47 that reduced penalties for crime and the police and highway patrol have lost interest in any type of speed or traffic enforcement on the roadways.
    Public transportation is a joke, walking is dangerous and far too many apartment, condo and housing projects do not provide enough parking.
