  • I´ve had strong opinions about this watch since it was released, mostly about the accuracy of the movement and the lack of some crucial specs that I find to be a must at this price-range.
    But having it in my hands, and on my wrist, many of those troubles fade away...
    Let's take a look at it together!

    I’ve put mine on a strapcode oyster bracelet, and a nato.
    These days travelling overseas with a watch can get you mugged or killed.
    This affordable watch is the perfect GMT.
    Affordable and under the radar. Ready for the hotel pool, beach, scuba trip and restaurant.

    I have this SSK003J1 now for over two months . I added a Marine Master clasp to my stock bracelet and am so loving this watch . It’s amazing 🤩

    Support your choice of black one. Thank you for being one of rarest TH-camrs with 20 cm wrist.🤩

    when people say the watch costs $x.xx so it should have a sapphire glass I both agree and disagree. I personally prefer sapphire, however hardlex definitely has its own benefits and even though it is a cheaper material for them to produce, I imagine Seiko invested a bit of money creating it. For example hardlex has a higher shatterproof shock rate, which for certain military specs may be preferable. Obviously for the casual wearer the scratch resistance is what sells sapphire.
    "true GMT" and "faux GMT" also arent very helpful adjectives or nomenclature IMO either.
    There are definite benefits to a Travelers GMT watch, its much easier to adjust timezones when jet setting. The Office GMT or Caller GMT i believe is better terminology. Let us be honest the majority of people nerding out about the differences do not travel either, we just like explaining nuanced complications to people.

    I've had mine for 5 weeks and accuracy has been outstanding. Running at +2.3 sec per day. This is by far my most accurate Seiko.

      @@realitycheck908 there is a chance you might not wind it enough. Or it is slightly magnified.

    I like all your perspectives-which are what make a review great. Most people just give very little more than the mere specs of the watch, which can be obtained anywhere on the internet.

    There’s a third position to set GMT and date I believe. I have the tudor Rootbeer and it’s of course a true GMT

    I own this watch and the accuracy is excellent, 2-3 seconds per day. I have it on a Bond NATO strap and it's the watch that gets the most comments when I wear it.

    Seems like an NH35 in a microband keeps better time than a 4R34 movement in a Seiko, even though they are the same. Maybe the micros just regulate theirs better.

    It’s true GMT watch , you set your time and then you set your red arrow GMT ,
    You don’t need to wind the crown to power up! Just shake it to get is going !
    It’s a navigation watch , no a tool watch diver yet 100m , I think you need more experience with Seiko and it’s history, for this value there is nothing to complain on this finishing! Last yours was assembled in China, for best model JDM only rules ( made in Japan ) all the best 🎉

      Thanks for watching and commenting 😊❤️
      It’s not a true GMT. This is a “caller GMT” also known as office GMT. There is a difference. The Rolex GMT is a true GMT. It’s a long explanation so it’s better if you google it to find out the difference 👍
      I’ve owned over 30 Seikos, so I have plenty of experience with them and their history. It’s an overpriced watch if you consider the specs, but you pay for the brand. The same with many watches 👍

    You were unlucky with your Seiko 5 GMT as mine in the last 3 weeks is running at + 2,1 sec/day.

      He is just stating the "acceptable tolerances". That exact watch runs about +3s, I know because it is my watch

    • @backintimewatches
      @backintimewatches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching but I’m just talking about the accepted tolerance for the movement itself. It’s not my watch and I don’t know how this exact one actually runs 🤷‍♂️

    I prefer hardlex it's actually a great material it's durable, and it doesn't smudge and smear like Sapphire all of my Sapphire watches with dark dials I am constantly wiping

    • @backintimewatches
      @backintimewatches  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally agree with you on the smudge and smear point 👍
      But I don’t know about the durability difference. I’ve never had a sapphire break on my, even though I’ve owned a few watches through the years and put them through almost everything 🤷‍♂️
      Thanks for watching and commenting 😊❤️

    San Martin and Steeldive watches punch way above their weight and cost half of this Seiko. Seiko needs to up their game significantly.

    Seiko is cheapo for not providing a sapphire crystal and milled clasp at this price range. They need to get with the program.
